    You guys are really acting like pussies. He said to eat more food to be more jacked! He also said eat as clean as possible but if you need a little junk to get the calories in then go for it!

    Really awesome video. This is exactly what I'm trying to preach to my 135lb buddies trying to be jacked and strong but they are eating 1.5k calories a day lol. This is the type of educational videos new people in this sport needs, great.

    I have seen the photos of Shaw when he was skinny and no where near his mammoth size. No way you get that big with out steroids. No way you can stuff your grill like he does without the juice. the regular guys's leverages will go to shit, the conditioning takes a severe hit, and the work capacity won't be able to keep up because without the juice it's snap city for sure. I love watching the big dogs and love learning from them, but sometimes they forget that they juice and only a select people should take their advice about this level of specificity. Getting fatter does not help. When you are natural its a different type of hard gains. Remember that post you did where you took your BMI and LBM with the underwater test? the guy told you that you had a certain window of calories in order to maintain your lean body mass and a certain calorie window for weight gain. step outside of that in either direction or go to the extreme Shaw is recommending and you go backwards, not forwards. Let me put it this way... at 6'2" 200LBM if i eat 6000 calories/day as a natural lifter, it's a suicide to my success. Get me on the gear and it's a whole different story. so how about a post for natural lifters and the nutritional extremes that are reasonable? oh wait.... no one gives a fuck about those guys, because it doesn't make for good youtubin and the maintenance of a delusional reality.

Yes of course you will gain fat but you shouldn't be scared of putting on fat if you're lifting weights and doing cardio multiple times a week.

He's a strongman, he could give a fck about how he looks, it's about the calories to maintain such a large frame to lift big ass loads. If this was a video on how to become the next fitness model, than some of you people have a point, but it's not :)

Saw it on one of his videos. His career involves eating massive amounts of food. So, it makes sense for him to spend on high quality toilets.

    Terrible advice for noob natty lifters out there. I've done the eat everything in sight approach before and just got fat as fuck. Brian is a very active 6'8 405lb genetic marvel on a shit load of juice, of course he needs to eat insane amounts throughout the day just to maintain his mass. Most people only need around a 500 calorie surplus to gain mass, anything more than that is basically just going to be stored as fat

    Not everybody can gain muscle by eating modestly. Some people have to eat everything in sight, just because something works one way for you doesn't mean it's that way for everybody. I can eat whatever the fuck I want and still cut, yet I'm not going to tell everybody that they should just eat McDonald's pig the fuck out every day and still be able to cut weight.

    Shit man... I'd hate to see what his vitals are. This isn't a sustainable lifestyle and more likely than not, he'll be hurting in many ways during his later years. Genetics may help, but he's not making it easy for himself on a cellular level. That being said, lifting over half a ton is pretty bad ass. If he combined that strength with martial arts, he'd be unstoppable.

  • @kylethekidable

    @kylethekidable

    8 жыл бұрын

    Probably true about the vitals, but you can say that about nearly all top level athletes. Either the training is too rough to sustain and leads to a beat up body later on, or the eating and "supplement" regimen is unsustainable and leads to bad internals later in life, but then again that is half the reason guys like shaw are top level at what they do. He is willing to do all this now for what he wants, even knowing that he will probably have it rough later. That said, it is also quite doable to live relatively healthy if you back off something like strongman intelligently, look at bill kazmaier, he is a large guy but fairly good health...certainly so compared to many his age, given the abuse his body took competing years ago. Its mainly because in strongman, shy of a serious injury that will never fully recover, you can remain very healthy from an exterior standpoint because strongman is built on functional strength of the body, it isn't crossfit with broken down form, or bodybuilding butchering it for the sake of muscle contraction...so all you have to key in on is internal health and cleaning up the diet.

    Damn... Don't get me wrong im not hating or anything, i love the powerlift scene. But this is really the dark and unmoral side of our consumption society. I mean just look at the excessive amount of meat he eats, i know it's his job to stay crazy strong (which is 100% respect obviously), but this is just a disrespect to the animal lives that are taken. And no im not a vegetarian at all, i just believe that meat should not be treated like its just another source of food, its the flesh of an animal, not just a piece of protein.

    Well how much more wasn't discussed and that would have been nice. He also could have spoke about natural lifting vs steroid users because a 500 calorie increase from maintenance for a steroid user is great because you can gain a lot more muscle but that for a natty would be too much and he/she would gain much more fat than muscle. Not bad basic advice but there is a whole lot that wasn't said that's just as important.
