Easy Way to Fix a Neck Hump
Dr. Rowe shows an easy exercise that may help self correct unsightly neck hump posture.
This exercise is great to do daily to help lengthen and strengthen muscles in the neck and upper back that are associated with a dowager's hump (aka neck or buffalo hump).
It can be done at home, requires no equipment, and can give quick results.
Let us know how it works for you!

@@rosebud6485 mine is chronicle, from when I was born, I've done physical therapy on my neck since I was a tiny baby of 7mo because I couldn't even hold my head up. So the bump by itself doesn't bother me, my problem was the pain. But on that note, the pain comes from muscle and nerves inflammation, and as we know when we have anything inflamed on our body that it gets "bloated" and bigger, so yes in that sense it gets considerably smaller. Correcting my posture as much as I can, worked wonders in turning it to a almost non existent size. I do simple yoga stretching exercises, that definitely helped loads in correcting my posture and the bump is still there, but has drastically improved, almost can't notice it.
I tried this last week and my head fell off. i mean right off on to the floor.

Pregnancy causes your tendons to loosen so it's easier to strain things but also carrying a baby draws the shoulders forward, engorgement puts weight on the chest and breastfeeding tends to draw the shoulders forward and together - in my experience all of those combined cause mothers to go from being straight backed and open shoulders to curled forward and closed.

Those are great exercises for the correction. I think it's also worth mentioning that mindfulness of posture is generally good for not making neck hump worse. Also, laying face up on the ground and letting your spine settle (2+ minutes) into a corrected position at least once a day is helpful. Edit: I've also found it useful to lie (lay? 😅) face down, chin tucked, hands flat on the ground under the forehead, for about a minute. Then when I get up, do some slow neck movements in the 'good neck posture' position, especially looking over each shoulder (several times).

I have improved my neck hump by fixing my posture and not looking down as much (like when I'm on my phone). Of course my posture still isn't the best or anything since I will still slouch, but my neck hump is a lot less noticeable as before. I have done more thing such as laying back more if I'm watching TV or playing games (the way I lay back helps my posture). When I'm on my phone before bed (yes, I'm on my phone before bed, I will do things on it for like and hour then play a video so o can sleep) I lay on my stomach or on my side with my back straight. I also have been not looking down as much when I walk. I would always look down when I walk to watch my feet so I wouldn't trip. I have definitely become more clumsy since not looking down as much when I walk, but I would rather trip then have a giant ass hump on my neck 😅

Wow this is so hard for muscles, but I need it, thank u✨
I do this for a spine injury from a work attack, but instead of tilting up I go down as far as I can. It releases the trauma of where the locks on the bank of lockers hit me when a guy slammed me into it and the whole 8 where not attached to the wall. I was cleaning up a glass spill and he walked over all the signage and pushed my cleaning trolley out of the way to get in. I even told him NO! Repeatedly, sometimes it’s not the patients in the hospitals that are ‘nuts’ but the person like this one. I have a lower back spine injury that I got from the same incident. I work that one out with a special therapy roller that has the rubber spikes on a long hard rubber cylinder, but there is a space missing so you can put your spine in the special grove area and roll it up and down against the wall to help with the pain instead of using drugs. 😊❤

Some simple quick exercises and PT can help get rid of it, in my experience, if you’re consistent, it will vanish within weeks. But not everyone can do this exercise, when my physical therapist had me do it (I had a neck injury), it caused an instant migraine and my husband had to come pick me up because I couldn’t drive. If it’s based on muscular imbalance through sitting all day etc it can be fixed but this exercise here isn’t great as it’s only stretching. You would need to do weight lifting with your neck and back. If it’s your spine that collapsed, there’s no fix.

I always thought it was genetic because I've never had a doctor say anything about it being preventable. I've even asked doctors directly about it because my grandmother and my mom had it, and now I do too.. You're right, I hate it myself too Greta.. Idk how long it will take until there's a noticable difference, but as long as I can get rid of it or most of it.. The summer time is the worst because of shirts being lower it sticks out and I feel like the hunchback of Notre Dame.. 😂

@@reneecaballero9624 your comment had me laughing out loud. I thought I was the only one who felt this way, my mom has it and I do too and everyone around me, friends and coworkers don’t seem to have it and I’ve tried to sit up to have better posture but doesn’t seem to do much. I tend to wear collared shirts when my hair is up so people don’t see it, it’s an insecurity for sure.

@@neydaa_ Same! But, in the summer it's gets so damn hot, that I have to throw my hair up, or don't want to be walking around looking like I just got hit with a yard sprinkler or that I don't know wtf deodorant is for! I also avoid dainty necklaces, because the chain sits on top of my neck like it just conquered a mountain! Question? Do you have biological children? I'm wondering if pregnancies causes it? I know that that's when I noticed that it seemed to get worse. After I had my youngest son, but I thought it was because I was getting older, even though I was only 21. I also thought it was because my mom, grandma and aunts are/were overweight, but I wasn't anywhere near overweight when I was in my 20's.. I'm not as round as I'm tall right now either, but I probably need to lose 20lbs. It just seems like I always see it in women who are overweight, at least that's when I noticed it. I've tried to correct my posture also, even bought one of those evil waist trainers, but I thought breathing was a just slightly of more importance.. 😂 if these don't help, I'm just going to get it tattooed with a cartoon character mooning everyone, that way I can say it's not a hump, it's a badadonkadonk... (However in the hell you spell it) 😂😂
Let me just say, you are awesome, it's like you're in my head daily as I was literally was just thinking about this and was going to your channel but this was on my timeline!
