Unless I am doing like more of a "big build" video, I don't plan on showing anything that isn't done with a knife. The hot wire cutter is just so I can mass produce multiple for videos etc. Thanks :)

Alternative paint scheme tip: Mask off the recessed green strips with tape. Then use rocky spray paint as a base coat. (There is such thing as rocky textured spray paint that is used to spray paint the bases of desk lamps). Then dry brush blacks and greys over the top before finishing the green with the edge highlights on the dark stone parts.

I do have some textures sprays but I wouldn't have thought about using them here, but that's a cool thought.

@@TerrainMadeEasy When you heavily dry brush over them you get a more uniform texture. So, it feels like one solid flat rock. I will say that I used this technique to paint chunks of bark to look like rocks. So, there may be a different result on foam. (My original comment was made with beginners to the hobby in mind. I thought you might of heard of the textured sprays).

Glorius work. I was glad to see the stream, and I love your battle damaged one. That kind of shaded painting is a bear to get to look right, and the one thing I have learned in my terrain making journey is this: You can't unpaint something, but by golly, you sure can repaint it!

Awesome looking terrain Jay! As a die hard Necron fan, I'll be knocking up a few of these for the new edition. Great use of the pipe to cut holes too! Pipes are generally measured from their inside diameter, so your 28mm pipe is sold as 25mm, sorry I work in the water industry and I couldn't resist!

They look great Jay! I appreciate you showing the two methods using a knife and a hot wire foam cutter. The painting looks good but if you want it darker in the middle you could use a black grey mix and stipple or dry brush it onto the center of each part. Thanks for sharing this.
