Crucial currently does not have any compatible upgrades available for your particular system.

My old HP DV7 can have a max of 8GB RAM, currently has 4GB but one of my RAM slots is bad. Can I put a 8GB stick in the remaining good slot or will a 4GB is all I can use. #1 slot causes my video to go blank. I replaced both 2GB sticks but had to remove #1 slot to regain video.

Hey Rob, I did what you suggested with the Crucial scan and it showed me much the same as yours.......I have a 4 gb stick with the other slot empty. My question is should I replace both RAM sticks or simply fill the empty slot with Crucials suggested 4gb stick? On the "scan result page" it showed the following, hence my question...........*Notes about your system: Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.* I'm not really computer savvy so I wasn't sure if it was instructing me to buy a set or if 1 8gb stick would suffice? Thanks for your video!!! You made it easy enough to be understood and navigated through for a novice like myself!! :-)

If the RAM stick is the same as the one already in there, then you're good to go. You'd be better off getting a set of new sticks, as mixing voltages and such is bad news. From what I've gathered, you can run either voltage, but the BIOS supports a max of 8GB.

SFAAPK7 The RAM will definitely make your Laptop run faster, and the graphics will be better, but there's no substitute for faster dedicated graphics processing I'm afraid, and I don't think that's easy to change on a laptop.

As far as I know, you can do both. However, you should check with your laptop the maximum amount of ram it can take (the biggest I saw was 32gb, I believe that meant 2x16), using the site Rob provided is probably the best way to do that. Also, more ram = faster system, as simple as that. I hope I helped :)

Just make sure both sticks are the same. Mixing voltages and Hertz ratings will incur the wrath of the gods.

Games will run a little better, but unfortunately you can't upgrade the graphics (GPU) so the benefits will be limited.

Many people repeating the same question, "Can I upgrade 4gb ram to 8gb ram?" Of course you can, just check if it will work with the site Rob provided... Also, check if your graphics card and proccessor meet the minimum requirements.
