***********ROCKY CREEK HOMESTEAD****************
After battling Psoriasis for years, I discovered the power of quality food and its positive impact on my skin condition. This sparked my desire to raise my own quality food. So come along with our Family as we transition from urban living to small self sustaining family farm. Learn from both our successes and failures in hopes it may inspire others to try new things. We entered into this journey with no prior experience and hope to provide many laughs and learning experiences. We learned most of how to do what were doing from watching others and hope to be able to provide a similar learning opportunity to anyone else who may benefit from this. Thank you for coming along with us on this journey and we hope it is enjoyable for you and your family.

Stan, everything is looking good, buddy! It's fun to see Miss Madison starting with some camera work as well as continuing to help around the homestead...can't wait to see Little Man out there with you, too. I installed drip irrigation over the weekend in our cut flower garden and I'm hoping to see the benefit of that with saving time as well as better looking flowers this year. It's been low to mid 90's here (KY) and so everything is growing quite a bit right now. Keep up the great work buddy and I look forward to hearing your big announcements! As always, stay safe my friend.

Thanks buddy. I always like it when anyone from the family helps. Little man is still wild as all get out and is more destructive than helpful 😂. He’s settling in though and will be a help soon enough. Hope the drip irrigation proves to be helpful. We loved ours last year and can’t wait to get it set back up.

Thanks. That’s exactly what we’ve used them for before. They look so cool once they’ve begun to fill in.

How is the situation with the Hawks? Can you talk about it please? Your place looks great thank you for sharing your days with us.

The hawk situation has been good for quite a while now. The addition of the owls, overhead coverage of the feeding area and the guard goose seems to be working well. We did have a hawk return a month or so ago and tried to attack a chicken that was free ranging in an open area. It never came to where the coop / run area was which was good. Luckily no chickens were lost in the open field attack.

It looks like the cattle panels are off the ground about as high as a cinder block on end. Keep 3 cinder blocks down by the garden to help hold them up while attaching the zip ties. Make it a little easier on yourself. Old and short people are always looking for ways to manage a task (I’m 65 and less than 5’ tall now) haha. It’s looking good in the garden. I like your metal beds. Where did you get them from?

Thanks for the tip. The green metal raised beds came from www.vegega.com/ . The silver squares ones came from www.northerntool.com/products/galvanized-steel-raised-garden-planter-bed-6ft-x-3ft-model-2811s533-60605

How far apart do you set your t post's? Looking to get a few cattle panels for my garden. Thank you!

The panels are 16’ long and i do 3 T-post per panel. The two ends are set in about 1’ so they’re approximately 7’ apart.

How does one get a 16ft panel home without a super long trailer? Any ideas? We have a truck and a regular sized trailer that can hold a side by side for reference..

I arch them into a hoop and hold the hoop in while someone closes the tailgate. Then I run a ratchet strap through the fencing and secure it down so the ends don’t bounce free. The panels don’t catch any wind resistance so they don’t really blow out. I can usually transport 2-3 this way at a time. When I need more than that, my friend lets me borrow his 12’ long trailer and i run them flat, running up the ramp and secured. I have a photo of 2 in bed of my small s-10 I transported 30 min on the interstate without issue. If you shoot me a message on FB, instagram or email me I can share with you. Hope that helps
