Leprous is right up my alley and I still only discovered them 3 or 4 years ago, but their whole catalogue is really great. I got to see them on tour with BTBAM and The Dear Hunter a couple years back (which for me may have been the show of my life if the venue's acoustics hadn't been so awful). Baard is a beast of a drummer and at the same time has shown great subtlety and restraint as the band has inched a bit further away from metal over their last couple albums. You should definitely check out more of their stuff.

What do you mean? You start on the downbeat of the example 12/8 measure with your right hand. When you do Gene Hoglan please check out Crystal Mountain. He has some really great sticking on the high hat. I have always wondered how you would do that. Great video BTW on Baard.

Wow. The famous halftime shuffle. Great video as usual. Gotta check this band out . Funny story Steve, I played it yesterday at my band practice and they thought I was playing the Rossanna shuffle(a little slow ) and our female vocalists hisses in the guitarists ears " Is he playing the Porn hub theme intro"?... Funny she thought I was trying to score with her for Valentine's day. 😂😂 Here's the theme check it out kzread.info/dash/bejne/aaurssGhecm-eM4.html

a dying art, traditional grip. Since the marching drums don't hang outside the leg anymore it has got no particular use. Or maybe for spastic jazz-drummers. Or is is something old men do?
