Not only that. At one point where Devin was exhausted and thinking about just doing a pop album, it was Chad who convinced him to go the opposite direction and do something that was uncompromised. So then Dev went on to make Empath. Hadn't it been for Chad Kroeger, we wouldn't have Empath today! 🤘 Source: Metal Injection. Dev always finds the best talent to fill out his albums

Devin's stuff is so extremely layered and so densely mixed that it borders on the overwhelming, for me at least. But 66Samus' careful and precise drum orchestration really helps to clarify the structure of this song and provides me with the rhythmic reference I need to appreciate it. Really great work, and some very clever and insane technique here!

Fun Fact: Chad Kroeger (Nickleback) sings backing vocals on the chorus of this song!

Brother, I'm 55 years old. I had my left leg amputated a few years ago. I started playing drums when I was 5. I just watched your reaction video on El Estepario and my jaw hit the floor just as yours. He is an amazing drummer. I had to relearn how to even sit on my throne. Its a balance thing. This guy wild. People have accused him of speeding up his videos. That was the video with the timer. And of course the comment to all the haters. My style is more towards your style. Not a lot of double bass work which I can nolonger do. 66samus hooked my up with the duelist pedal which has helped me tremendously. I just subscribed to your channel. I like your content. Keep the videos coming brother, please.

Andrew Tkaczyk, from the band The Ghost inside, got amputated in 2015 due to a tragic accident of their tour bus. Him and his dad built a special pedal that allows him to play something like 90% of what he use to play. That story is amazing and i got to see them live, this summer, on their comeback tour. Im sharing the story, because maybe there is some way to see the building plan of the pedal and maybe it could help more people. I have worked in a physical rehab center for many years, and I always was so humbled by how many amputies are not letting their injuries define them, and are doing even more activities than some of us! big love, keep drumming

@@jangles1839 i can't wear a prosthetic either. The Dr. took my leg just above the knee. He cut the femur so short. The bone is only 4 or 5 inches long and I have a useless gob of flesh that has absolutely no purpose. It just flops around. So I get around on crutches and a wheelchair. I had one hell of a time getting used to sitting on the throne. Lol. There is a drummer video on KZread, a drummer with no legs playing drums. He uses the stool leg on the bass pedal and leans back and forth. Talk about an inspiring video. Keep jammin brother.

My cousin actually toured with Samus back in the day, he always has good things to say about him, especially his blast beats.

Killer drums. 66samus is totally awesome here. Sad fact, I showed the original video to a drumming friend of mine. He quit playing. A bit of encouragement over a few months and he picked up the sticks again

Samus is one of my favorites. Super talented and ridiculously funny

The wildest part of this insanity to me is the fact there are multiple times he changes his lead foot from right foot lead during the fast singles to left foot lead during the skank beats. The independence he has with all 4 limbs at such speed is incredible. 6:00 and 11:00 minutes are examples.

Hey Andrew, if you haven't seen it already check out 66Samus' 1 hour song challenge video. not only did he beat the 60 minutes, but he wrote all the instrument parts, played all the instruments, wrote lyrics and sang, recorded and mixed it all in under 60 mins. and it's a funny well written song. and the 60 min song challenge died after he released his vid, can't top it

I had to come and promote you to check Kai Hahto again. 2 months old drumclinic video now at KZread where he plays Nightwish song Tribal.
