“My number 1 aim for you is to have fun and fall in love with the drums.”
I graduated with a Jazz Degree from Auckland University in 2009 and teach/play drums for a living.
I am a lifelong student of drumming. Come along for the ride... SUBSCRIBE!

One of the few drummers that could do this song justice. I think Matt Gartska would do well too.
"Drum teacher triggered...." Unlike El Estepario's bass drum. :P
HIS VOICE IS SO STRONG HERE. THIS IDS THE ONLY TIME HE PLAYED THE AXE
I SEEN THEM IN NYC IN 1984 RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL

A great reaction, of course! This seems to be a clip from their movie from the 1970's. Saw this when it came out in a theater with a bunch of my friends on a Friday night when it first opened after standing in a long line of kids. Very cool.
A spiritual experience whenever I hear it.
Bill Ward Jazz and Swing Influeced
This performance is a great example of everything that is so wonderful and fun and life- altering about a live rock concert.
I hate metronomes and click tracks. They have no place in rock n roll
This was FREAKING HILARIOUS!! OMG!! HAHA!! Well done, Well done.
Nothing more emotional than the man himself bleeding for his audience 😊
Bruce was a beast on this one. He sounded fantastic! Golden years as far as I'm concerned.
Half time except on the chorus. Really cool.
The amazing unifying principle with all these Drumeo videos is the drummers’ commitment to good muscianship.
I have always loved this groups music....since I was 17 yrs old!! ❤
Bill’s playing is pure Genius, his expertise is on par without any doubt with John Bonham and Ian Paice
This should be titled Drum Teacher Reacts to a DIY Drum Kit.
I just watched this on Drumeo and this video came up next. Andrew, I watch you regularly and I appreciate your content! I hope you had fun with this!
Fun anecdote: I met Michael Shrieve at Lake Tahoe when I was 15. He was 19. He had just tried out for Jefferson Airplane ( which I wasn’t sure at the time if that was true) The funny part was he was attempting to teach me & my friend how to drum! When I saw him with Santana on TV I was surprised to say the least! He & his family were vacationing at Tahoe, so met his parents, his older sister & younger brother. A high point for sure…
Would you please check out the band Shadow of Intent….. The song “The Heretic Prevails.” It’s really nice and heavy if you can handle that stuff. kzread.info/dash/bejne/h4drlcOwnZyupJc.htmlsi=sBMSqM-DrGhykLG8
Want to see them do this LIVE in 2021? kzread.info/dash/bejne/dWmYxqWNYqnYdKw.htmlsi=6sBIndV1K1Mt9-MF
Nicko and Steve really enjoy pushing tempos faster (even to this day), which pissed Adrian off to no end in the ‘80s, who’s always been a stickler for tempo and guitar tones. I believe the lack of tempo discipline led to some arguments and was part of the reason he left. I think he still thinks they play certain songs too fast, but he’s more relaxed about it now.
True story: As a sophomore at a Catholic high school in 1987, we were each required to take a turn leading the entire K-12 campus in an original morning prayer over the intercom. Being the slacker I was, when it came my turn I was unprepared, of course. No clue what to say even as the nun handed me the intercom mic. Before I knew it was ON, I said aloud "Oh, God" (shocked look on Sister Judith's face) (Shocked look on my face) "...of Earth and altar, (SLOW, cuz I'm trying not to sing the words) bow down and hear our cry. Our Earthly rulers falter, our people drift and die. The walls of gold entomb us, the swords of scorn divide. Take not Thy thunder from us, take away our pride." (dramatic pause) "In Jesus' name we pray, Amen." When I turned around, the office was FULL, and every jaw on the floor. I smiled, turned and the staff parted for me like The Red Sea. I left in silence and walked back to class, hearing Sister Judith stammer through a thanks and begin morning announcements in hallway speakers. Opening the door to my classroom, I find more shocked looks and a beaming smile from my teacher...and my 3 best friends in the back of the room smiling the proudest.

Nicko has a tendency to speed up when he gets excited.
Interesting choice for a video. The Live After Death tour was well recorded and with awesome audio.
One of the BEST heavy metal songs EVER!!!!!
Thijs van Leer, Jan Akkerman. Heroes.

Narada was a beast. I used to cover this tune. I did it justice, but this kid makes it looks way too easy. I see millions earned in session work for this kid in the future. Shite- she's great enough to do that work now.
Biggest crowd Maiden ever played for I believe. 300.000. After this year they put a limit on 250.000 at Rock in Rio. Queen came on after them.
Check out the song Moby Dick on Led Zeppelin's second LP.. Bonham shows his stuff in this piece. They intentionally gave Mr. Bonham the opportunity to shine. I apologize if you know this info. You are a true musician, I can see because I am too! thanks for being out there!
Synchronized between the vocals and the drums. Analogous to a Counterpoint in orchestral music. I think I hear that. Incredible Rythm!! John Bonham cannot be duplicated in my opinion. You gotta listen to all of Zeppelin drummer Bonham's work. It is incredible!
My favourite song of theirs
After the octopus part, when there is the moment with just guitar riff and bass and drums come in together, when Portnoy pulled this bit off perfectly I think I jumped on the couch and yelled a little.
My inspiration too!
Bruce played some guitar so he could write songs or sections of songs (he wrote the "Powerslave" song); as far as I've heard he ran into Dave Murray's guitar neck, at least that's what they said in the second "The Early Years" DVD. They also wished the footage was better quality but it's better than none at all. Up the Irons!
You should see Nicko, with orchestra ! kzread.info/dash/bejne/ooB_lLSzqcuyqJs.htmlsi=WGkje3zIVMdI3goa
Bruce got bruised.
If you believe in the rolling stones ranking, he's ranked mid 20's I think like 26th, however I don't personally believe that's his real placement, Danny's style influenced by millions places him easily in the top 10, there are fastest drummers, but complexity wise... not to mention that some of his songs are 12 minutes plus is flat out impressive.
Sorry 1975, sabbath bloody sabbath was 1983
bruce plays guitar when he played a rock star on a tv show paradise ?.he also sings revelations with ian anderson playing the flute in canterbury cathedral. at the start bruce sings away from the mike and comments said he could be heard all the way in the back.
1972 or 73 i think
he says he was playing a guitar borrowed from dave and hit himself in the head. but he also has said when he tried to stop the bleeding rod said no it looks great on tv. but this is the manager who, when a fan wrote in a complaining letter to a mag, the band just makes noise and the singer sounds like a human air raid siren he latched on to that . bruce makes fun of his yellow pants on his book tour, the yellow pants they went with my hair.
The reason the timing was all over... This was the first festival of the rock in rio line. Bruce explained in his book that the monitor mixes were all over the shop, hence why they may not have been as tight as usual, either way they killed it
Maybe not the best technically but the moment is unsurpassable
