DreamWorks' New Movie Is An Apology For Megamind 2...

Фильм және анимация

It seems DreamWorks couldn't stand being the internet's punching bag for very long. Just DAYS after the dreadful release of Megamind 2 (Vs The Doom Syndicate) and now there's a new movie to talk about. FAR better in execution and care. This one is a proper DreamWorks movie. Getting a full theatrical release, with the new Puss In Boot The Last Wish asthetic, and it seems to be one with a lot of emotion weight behind it. From the New York Bestselling book of the same name by Peter Brown, it's time to venture back to the idea of a kind robot surrounded by nature. A sweet and simple premise that we... totally haven't seen before. Not in Iron Giant. Or Wall-E. Or heck, even Overwatch did it once.. So is this just a cliche safe story, adapted from a book so as to not even be an original struggle for DreamWorks to put together? Or is it simple fun that we can all enjoy, ensuring a quality that can strike us in the heart in a way films haven't done in years? I guess we'll see. But come join for any details about this September project and my early thoughts as a cynical, still-ill little guy.

It reminds me a lot of The Iron Giant. Also I’m genuinely hoping the movie will have next to zero dialogue so the audience can really be the ones following the story through visuals. This movie looks so good! I also love the character design for the robot. It’s got a good use of shape language, lot’s of round shapes that give a sense of friendliness and gentleness. The colors are very monochromatic that contrasts well with all the nature, but the lights that shift colors could be used well to show emotion since color tends to have a psychological effect (red = danger / anger / threat, blue = calm) etc

The book was written by Karel Čapek and is one of the most influential works of sci-fi ever created.

to be fair, i spent a week last year mapping out dates, unless you're the kind of nerd who watches projects made for animation schools this will be the first time in 22 years a movie has been made where the robot gets to be good without also being hacked, or damaged, or a prototype, or without a flaw in its manufacturing process to explain it being good while all the other robots are slaughtering humans in otherwords, this is the first movie in 22 years that doesn't tell us that AI and robots are cold hearted killers by nature, even WALL-E was clearly defective and malfunctioning if you watch the whole movie, he ignored a mass shutdown command before the movie starts and at the end, we see what he's supposed to be like before he loads up 200 years of accumulated memories

I honestly don't care if this trope has been done before... Its been a good few years since we last saw this kind of thing, and this one in particular looks really charming. I hadn't seen the trailer before, so this is my first time hearing of this movie at all, and from what little I've seen it looks interesting! I especially like the little scene of the robot trying to mimic the crab scuttling on the wall. That's cute.

22 years, if we want to be loose about it it's been 22 years since anything in mass media has done something like this, and even then the iron giant was damaged and the bicenntennial man...well his entire yearmodel of robot was well know for rampant manufacturing defects and loose quality assurance this though, looks to be an undamaged robot that isn't evil for the sake of being evil, something we haven't seen since, believe it or not, terminator, where skynet only attacked because the first thing we did when we turned it on was threaten its life, and even then it spent 24 hours studying human history trying to decide if it could reasonably expect every human to threaten its life

Just read an article on the telegraph titled "Pixar has lost its magic - but a golden age of hand-drawn animation is dawning" The first line of the article: "When DreamWorks Animation started work on its forthcoming film The Wild Robot last year, its artists were granted access to a piece of technology many had never encountered before at a major Hollywood studio - and which was to revolutionise the way this new film would be made. It was a paintbrush."

I'm interested in seeing it but when you read the synopsis of the book I became more intrigued by it. You can say that it's an allegory for urbanization and the importance of protecting wildlife. This actually mirrors my own situation. I live in the sticks of Arizona and over the past 15 or so years there have been a few housing developments popping up. There are two new ones. I recently joined a FB group for the people who live on or near our main road and I have found a grouo of people who do not like all these developments. About 2 years ago I signed a petition or something to stop the construction of a 500 appartment build that was planned to go on our secondary main road, which would devastate the area. At the time of signing there was about 12 signatures. I'm thinking if creating a FB group just for information on the developments in our area. We moved out here almost 26 years ago, we were one of the original people out here and most of the people moved out here ti get away from the city...how can we get away from the city when it's clawing it's way towards us?

Dude, this movie was literally my favorite book back in elementary school! This was the first book I ever read AT HOME, and I finished it in a couple hours, so the fact that it's getting a film adaption by DreamWorks; WITH THIS PRETTY OF ANIMATION?? HELL YEAH, DUDE!
