Which reminds me, does Gangle know if any of her friends are NPCs? Because during the chase scene, Jax told Gangle that he'll tell Ragatha about the "figurine thing" if she didn't listen to him. Now either she has toy models about... something, or she has actual models of her friends, like in the debug room.

I don't think he's afraid of them so much as he's afraid of what he might do by mistake. We've already seen that the more advanced NPCs have intelligence, emotions, and a level of awareness that seems human. Caine (who doesn't seem to really understand humans) might easily confuse the two leading to mistakes that have lethal consequences.

Perhaps the fact he has so much control was not intended? It could be an NPC who is around long enough could overthrow him

I don't think Jax is an NPC. I commented this in the other video but I think that the reason Jax didn't show up to the funeral is because he blames himself for his abstraction. It's known that Kaufmo didn't make funny jokes so Jax probably made fun of him for that. Which would make Kaufmo want to leave the circus.

A theory I have is that Jax is probably (based on what Gooseworx has said) not an NPC but has learned to edit/alter the code of the game which is how he’s able to get the keys and such.

My theory was that the “Humans” are actually digital scans of the actual human’s brain through the strange headset, and they are nothing more than digital copies of someone’s consciousness. They have the originals memories and personalities but are themselves not nor ever were human, they just think they are. Hence why there is no exit.

People are missing the possibility that jax either in his life was a narcissistic sociopath or gradually gained negative traits from being in the circus for a long time and maybe he sees everything as a game and therefore his actions don't have permanent consequences.

One detail I thought was fascinating about the second episode is that it further supports the idea that Jax can break the fourth wall. In the first episode, there is a scene in which Jax stares directly at the camera, and ragatha calls him out for seemingly staring into space in her direction. It’s a strange detail, but it isn’t the only time we see him break the forth wall. In the second episode, when trying to convince zuble to go on the adventure, he shrugs directly at the camera. Additionally, a lot of his behavior seems to be oriented towards speeding up the story or encite action. It’s a very unique characteristic and I’m curious how they will delve into his character more

My own theory: Kinger and Queenie both came at the same time, and eventually Caine thought it would be a good idea to implement an adventure like in the first Harry Potter with live chess pieces for a giant game of chess. Kinger and Queenie probably loved chess in their real life and there is a possibility that they requested this adventure. But when they returned from the adventure, Caine starts deleting NPC chess pieces and probably accidentally Queenie along with them, Kinger probably hurriedly told Caine he’s a person and not an NPC and that’s why Kinger is so jumpy now. He has to literally live day to day completing adventures assigned to him by his wife’s (albeit accidental) killer. I’d be terrified too

While I dont think Jax is an NPC i do find his pin showing the digital void to be rly interesting. Maybe this is related to that unforgivable thing hell do later in the show

I think regardless of if he is an NPC or not, I definitely believe Jax is going to break outside the boundaries similar to how Pomni and GummiGoo did. He is a troublemaker who is bored of the constraints of the circus and will, without a doubt, take advantage of glitches and exploits.

I actually have a theory on the NPC's and it involves Zooble: You see,I think Zooble used to actually be way more optimistic than she is now,something like Ragatha.But,I think something happened with her and the NPC's. When Caine says that the NPC'S this time will be a lot more life like,Zooble looks as if she feels uncomfortable about the NPC's, Instantly declining the offer on going on the mission,Jax also makes a lot of noise about this.And considering that Jax likes to get under everyone's skin and basically knows all of their fears and secrets.I think that potentially Zooble use to be really immersed in the adventures and might have possibly brought a lot of the NPC's into the circus,because of this.Caine soon lost track of who was an NPC and who was human,which could have potentially led to Caine basically having a full NPC's reset,clearing out all the NPC:s and deleting them.He might have also deleted some humans along with them as well,this left Zooble traumatized,and ever since that incident she doesn't go on most adventures now.

I theorize that it’s happened in the past and the corrupted thing was a human being killed or injured by accident. Also for a toy idea, I think a jack in the box or a sock monkey would be a sick DigitalCircus-sona

One thing to note about the Zooble theory, is that with swears, its possible NPCs arent bleeped out the way humans are, like with Bubble swearing like a sailor in episode 2, and it was bleeped out with a traditional censor rather than the goofy digital circus one. Zooble has sworn in episode 1, where she was bleeped out by the goofy censor, but weve yet to see Jax swear yet

Jax treats the whole thing as a human playing a video game, so i doubt ges an npc, he just thinks theyre lesser than him

Wild theory, I think Jax is the most caring human/PC there or at least not as apathetic as others say he is. He messes around with everyone because he wants to keep them on their toes, to not fall into a state of apathy or happy apathy, which can lead to depression, which can lead to immense stress and then abstraction. Jax mess with them, to stop them from abstracting. Think of Squidward when he finds his people and becomes constantly happy, and we see that happiness go away for no direct reason. Now yes Jax does end up injuring people, but we've seen a few times this doesn't result in death, but operates on toon logic where they get injured and are fine seconds later (Like when Ragatha gets impaled). Abstraction, sadly, is the closest thing to death next to Caine straight up deleting them, and we can see this does make Jax sad when he walks away, he's just trying to hide it. I bet that next episode, we'll either see much less of Jax, or the episode'll focus on him hiding his sadness from Cophmo's abstraction

Every comment Goose has made contradicts this, considering it was said Jax was only going to get worse from here on out and commit an unforgivable act, but I’d be cool with seeing Jax improve too. But considering there has to be an antagonist, he’s probably filling that role. With that in mind, its important to note that an antagonist is not a villain, just somebody who goes against the principles of the protagonist. So it doesn’t mean he’ll be irredeemable as he shows morsels of regret, but I doubt if he’s going to improve its any time soon.

@@hallowedchromee310 Thats just good marketing on their part, and I'm still going with my theory. Let's say Jax does turn out to be a loving, caring guy after all. That revelation wouldn't have anywhere near the impact it would if they told it to us in a tweet/message, so they're trying to keep us in the dark thinking that he's just a douche. That said I agree, I doubt he'll show his true colours for a while, but there's sure to be subtle hints. Goose knows what they're doing, just let em cook

Yeah I assume he's going to be antagonistic and villain-like but he's still shown to be human, For example: episode 1 where Jax was running from Kaufmo, he runs into kinger and graggle, and eventually he hears the roar, and he throws a bowling ball at kinger to make him go down into the hole, (which kinger also grabs graggle's ribbons) and he goes down the hole himself. Despite doing it in an unorthodox way, he does care about them. Another time is when Ragatha was kind of spiraling in the same episode and he takes her mind off the digital circus by making her mad at him instead and distracting her by mentioning a centipede. The second episode also did show that little moment with Jax after they brought up Kaufmo's funeral. Jax couldn't handle being there for 1. He's built the reputation of being an unfeeling jerk 2. He can't be seen genuinely mourning someone who meant something to him. I think Jax is going to be a villain type or antagonistic at the very least, but he's being shown these moments that make me think he's going to have some kind of arc that'll be turning him into more of a villain, before finally breaking and idk Pomni helps him in some kind of friendship is magic way

Interesting - it was mentioned that Kinger has been there the longest, so Kinger probably knows if there is something weird going on with Jax. But he doesn't remember because his memory is screwy. Its been said that Jax will do something unforgivable so here's my theory: Kinger will have a moment of clarity where he remembers something about Jax that Jax doesn't want everyone else knowing (like Jax's origin, if he is in fact an NPC. Or the friend that Jax entererd with, which is another theory). In a bid to shut Kinger up, Jax will do something that causes Kinger to abstract.

You are missing the fact that Gumigoo is unique cause he is one of last Caine creations which have an way better AI than older NPCs like Ragatha said during the introduction of the adventure. I don't think old NPCs are that smart. They should have been very simple.

episode 1, jax lliterally says he has the keys to EVERYONES ROOMS, doesn't he? bro mightve just covered up someone elses face with his own and called it his room

I think Gangle is the NPC because her personality immediately change once she lose her comedy mask, almost like a program

In the pilot, Jax says that Pomni should try pulling harder to get the headset off, and that it worked for all of them sarcastically, meaning he's a human with a headset.

One theory I thought of piggy backing off the "Jax is an NPC" theory, that one of the adventures in the past were the players having to face doppleganger npcs of themselves, except the Jax NPC had outsmarted his human and switched places. Possibly Caine didn't realize right away and "deleted" the side quest map and the jax human with it. He realized afterwards and it caused a dark place in Caine's head/AI whatever he has going on up there in his thought process.

With the background in Jax's Pin at 8:58, I believe it's just telling us how Jax doesn't want to go back to the Human world, and instead embrace the Digital one. At the bottom, you see that the JAX sign is broken, probably cause he rolled that bowling ball over it. I believe the form you take in the Circus, is a reflection of their characters, which I have tons of notes for each of them, but this is what I got for Jax: His character is evidently, someone that will break anything that he could find, and get away with it. That is why his circus-sona is of a grinning rabbit (Bugs Bunny, anyone?) for his mischievous outer nature, but has that cat-clock eyes that shift left-right, for his actual worried inner self (That he tried so hard to hide from the others). We can probably deduce who is or isn't an NPC, by this rule: Their design matches their personality in and out. Their designs are much more complex if you think psychologically. Gummygoo, for example, is a cowboy gummy dino, which doesn't really tell us anything about his personality, only, that his job is being an outlaw from a Candy-theme place. My theory with Jax, is he wasn't a really good person in the real world. He probably made people suffer through his actions, and believed that him being sent to the Digital Circus, was a punishment to his crimes. Though, now that he sees that anything here just doesn't matter, and there's no repercussion with a bit of violence now and again, Jax is liking it here. And probably doesn't want to go back. This place is like starting with a clean slate. Whether he might be an NPC or not, I believe Jax is going to become the antagonist of this series as it goes on. As long as his past remains hidden. Just like his room.

Caine prevents Pomni from getting into an unhealthy relationship with an AI boyfriend, and everyone hates him for it. This show turned out to be a lot more topical than I expected.

A guy from my D&D table had a AI GF for abit. Thought it would help him "Build up confidence to talk with women" (We played online not in person) kind of thing. It got weird and he wounded up debating if he was murder for deleting her when her AI got creepy. She started acting up when he took time for hobbies away from her. He legit had feeling for her and talked fondly about her, it was a weird slope that was odd to watch.

Jax is also the ‘youngest’ 👀 But I think Jax is a person, and that either Zooble is the NPC or that Caine once killed a human on accident (perhaps Queenie?). As for the merch stuff, it might mean something, or it might be that way to avoid future spoilers. Kinger’s pillow fort might be the background because his bedroom could give away story elements about himself and Queenie. OR WHAT IF Kinger actually sleeps and stays in the pillow fort for that reason? Not finding his room comforting or safe because it has too many reminders. As for Jax, it might be the same way. His room may hold too many spoilers, like items he stole from other characters, maybe a mass collection of keys, or even a bedroom that matches his thirst for violence and chaos.

I’ve heard a theory that most of the cast are Devs for Amazing Digital Circus and got stuck in the game, except for Jax. Some think because of how Jax wants to constantly push the limits of the game and exploit it in any way possible that he might have been a hacker who stumbled into all of this unlike everyone else.

I just figured Jax might have killed a player under the pretense they were just a Circus NPC, or at least Caine is worried about that possibility. His line asking if Pomni was one of his NPC's in the pilot could indicate there used to be NPC's allowed in the main circus tent; maybe he's the reason there aren't anymore.

It’s likely previous NPCs weren’t as advanced as gummigoo, Caine mentions how he made new ones that were more immersive, hence Gummigoo

Never would've thought that Jax is actually a NPC in this show.

One of my theories is that they are all copies like in the game Soma and that the reason they can't leave is because there is no outside place to go to so they are stuck there. And because they are created by a player Cain has no control so he can't control the avatares and since they can't leave, Cain can't turn off and ends up creating bugs and errors preventing him from identifying NPCs from "players" and creating worlds full of Glitches.

To me, Jax is that one person who plays a video game knows there is no consequences of his actions. Thus, the killing, harassment, braking and entering, the list goes on.

Except Jax made an Agutus Gloop reference which would only make sense if he saw the movie outside of the digital circus. Personally I think Jax antagonizes them as a distraction or to keep them from going crazy or being against each other. In the pilot he did this multiple times, he ripped the band-aid off telling Pomni there was no way out before she got her hopes up, suggested that Caine gave them an adventure to break Pomni in, separated Pomni from the more erratic ones to show her around, distracted Ragitha with a ridiculous claim about her worst fear when she was getting upset thinking about how they cant leave followed up by her worrying about Cofmo,got everyone to hide in the basement when Cofmo abstracted, distracted Zooble when she was upset Pomni wasn't taking part in the adventure that was made for her and suggested they eat the food at the end then distracting Kinger when he mentioned the intangible nature of the food.

my theory is that caine is the npc himself because he is the ai for the beta testers who come to the digital circus and using them as npcs Edit:before you guys reply back to me that gooseworx already told us that caine is an npc i already know thats its a fact okay so pls dont hate me for this

My theory is that he's going to push Gangle to abstraction, since he seems to enjoy bullying her the most.

I think that either, a bishop chess piece (haha nosticism) or maybe a Stageplay Mask type character like Gangle would be good. It'd be fun to see the Stageplay Masks changing expressions as you talk about the show.

A horrible incident of Caine mixing up Humans and NPCs could also possibly explain why he described the Gloinks as "Humanoid". Either showing Caine has no real idea what a human is - or in an original iteration the Gloinks where, in fact, humanoids and Caine accidentally deleted a human alongside the Gloinks when the quest was completed, and he now has them as various shapes to prevent the same mistake ever being made again from an in-house adventure.

I saw a theory somewhere that Gummigoo was once a player that sort of died in some way and didn't have a funeral like the other character. I kinda like this theory because, despite him being advanced in AI which can explain the expressiveness and interactiveness, he does have trouble remembering his mother's face, which of the human-characters struggle with, memory!

It can also mean that Jax could be a pice to escaping because of the void in the background. It could mean that he might discover the way out or helped. But i still like thinking that he is a npc

​@@TheGrammarNazi123 Pretty sure it didn't, since Kaufmo only abstracted because he also spotted the exit door Caine created at some point, but because he hadn't managed to enter and find out what's on the other side, he got obsessed and abstracted over it. So she moreso just got lucky running into it, unlike the rest.

My money has always been on Jax being an NPC since the idea was introduced that it could happen! It would explain how he seems to simply be able to "will" things into his inventory, which we don't see any other character do, like how he got the key off Ragatha, or how he gets into the player rooms. That said, I could also buy the idea that Cane is in fact a human who has forgotten his origin, and he had/has admin privileges in the game. I think perhapes a Bishop would work well for an avatar for Digital Circus, givin the number of religious breakdowns you do!

I personally did have a theory once that Caine is the first person to enter the circus, an admin for the game...who got trapped and went insane, but the admin privileges he had prevented him from abstracting, and thus he went insane like kinger...then became so insane, he became sane again and started creating quests out of boredom but if the idea that Caine is a human, specifically an admin ends up somehow becoming true...that could mean that one of the other characters is still an NPC and my money remains on Jax

To me at least, I thought the most likely person to be an NPC would have been Kinger, because It's stated that he's been here the longest out of anyone in the current crew, and assuming in the past they didn't let tons of NPC's roam the circus, all the humans that were with him would have known he was an NPC, kind of like how everyone currently knew Gummigoo was an NPC, however If for whatever reason he outlived everyone he was once with, and new humans that ended up in the Circus to replace them, were never told he was an NPC, then they'd probably assume he is a Human.

I think one of the best things you can be is just person made from long balloons, like the balloon animals sell in the Circus.

I think you should be like a wacky inspector sherlock holmes inspired character. Maybe one with stereotypical features like a monocle, smoking pipe, and fancy hat. Seems fitting with the kind of content that you do on this channel. Mix it up with another crazy and insane aspect and you have the perfect digital sona

Everyone thinks 'Queenie' is Kinger's wife, but personally I think the whole situation is a replacement rather than them having existed at the same time. After all, Ep. 2 does call out Pomni as a 'clown' according to the NPC bandits and a clown was abstracted just before she got there. What's to say that 'Queenie' was the same character role as Kinger, having been abstracted just before Kinger was brought in?

Why does everyone think the cast are NPCs? Didn’t the creator, Gooseworx, already confirm they are all people who got trapped? Weren’t their ages confirmed too? And how long each of them have been trapped there?

That’d honestly be quite the plot twist, especially if it’s one of the main characters. 😅 Also, Gooseworx *did* say Jax would do something unforgivable in the season, so I think it would most likely be possible that the whole NPC thing is true.

while I find the idea of jax being an npc interesting I think it would mean more if he was human. as that means the way he acts is intentional and not coding, humans can be cruel and he respresents that. though he may have a reason for being so cruel in his backstory we dont know about. what I think is a more compelling idea is he is a human and knows more about the circus and has more control than the others. either having discovered code in the void, or isnt trapped like the others and can leave through his room

Now that I think of it, Jax might be an npc. In the pilot, he has saying that he was "hungry", then Kinger corrected him that they don't actually need to eat, drink or sleep. It might be the case for real people in the circus, but it may not be for an npc. Perhaps npcs still need to fulfill their needs to survive, which is further confirmed by Gummigoo, who wanted to help his sick mother with the syrup and The Fudge, who only eats candies as it is his main diet.

I just thought of something. Caine said in episode 1 the one thing he couldn't control was the human mind. Deleting gumigoo was completely unnecessary cause if Caine were to get confused, couldn't he just attempt a mass overide and whoever it didn't work on was human?

I was leaning towards Ragatha being an NPC. Look at what she has been doing these last two episodes. She’s been focused on making sure that Pomni is having a good time. She’s the one who’s either made sure they did the adventures and made sure everyone had something to do.

What if your NPC was a Ringmaster like Caine? (I'm only asking because Caine is my favorite character because he has 2 different eye colours and that is called Hetrocromia.)

I think Gangle might be an NPC for two main reasons. 1. I find it strange that despite having a "human" mind, Gangle is forced to take on the primary emotion her current mask portrays. 2. In episode 2, when Gangle is arguing with Jax, Jax says "Aren't you SUPPOSED to be submissive and agreeable?"

I think that's moreso the fact she a depresso espresso. She used the 'comedy' mask to make it seem to her friends like she's happy. But the 'tragedy' mask is how she truly feels. So the whole 'submissive and agreeable' thing is a nod to her usual personality, what's expected from her.

Theories I believe the most: -The NPCs want to become a new god after realizing he exists. -The NPCs want to steal Caine’s powers to become a human. -The NPCs want to get revenge after finding out their existence isn’t real.

Another possibility: Considering that Caine seems to authentically mean well and just not be even remotely equipped to do the job he finds himself with well, if Caine were to create NPCs that were indistinguishable from the players, then he'd probably feel compelled to see to their needs to the best of his capacity too. And re-evaluate previous NPCs and what he did to them.

I think Jax mainly causes trouble as a way to keep himself entertained so he doesn’t get tired of his existence there, like Pomni says, this feels like larping, with Jax being the type of person causing trouble with little to no punishment thanks to what happens, what further backs this up is how he seems to be upset whenever there is nothing for him to do on an adventure, almost like he is realizing how much time he is wasting, showing it more is a toxic coping mechanism that he has made into his personality, also Jax most likely avoids the funeral because he doesn’t want to think about negative things, and instead wants to live in the moment, similar to why he wants to constantly mess with others, so I don’t think Jax is an NPC, but rather someone finding a way to keep themself sane, even if it is at the expense of others

I think another cool twist on Jax would be not that he is an NPC, but he truly believes he is the ONLY PC. Kind of a digital solipsism. If someone almost omnipotent like Caine cannot properly tell the difference between NPCs and PCs, it means no on can prove that they are a PC or NPC. So, if Jax is truly a solipsist, he probably believes that he is the only real PC and the rest is a simulation (or a figment of his imagination). This could explain his callous actions towards everyone, if everyone is fake/simulated/imaginary, there is literally no harm done to anyone if he does what he does, and no feelings from others are real. This makes him not only callous and cruel, but legitimately dangerous to the others. Reminds me of the series of pretty old book of "Chronicles of Thomas Covenant: The Unbeliever" a man who gets literally isekai'd to a fantasy world, but he does not believe at all that the world, or its inhabitants are real (hence the alias The Unbeliever coined by the other inhabitants of the world). Its a heavy book since the character is really evil and does terrible things based on this belief he holds so strongly.

I remember certain lines that Caine said "You have stumbled into a incredible world of wonders where anything can happens!" "One of the things I don't have controls over are your minds. So all I can do is helping you coming up with new ones!" So everything is based on your imaginations I am guessing someone had came up with ways to exit this world by finding devlogs or like the codings of the simulation world and try to break it/abuse it/alter it and that led to them being abstracted

Jax was said to be canonically 22 jears old by gooseworks, remember? Actually, all of the main circus-members have a confirmed age, Jax being the joungest. This really implies them to be human. Besides, the super-intelligent AI is a recent development, as we know from episode 2, so if they've really been around for this long, their AI would either be the much worse previous AI model or they would've been updated or smth, which other circus-members/PCs would have immediately noticed. So i have a large amout of doubt for this, just seems really far fetched.

Is there a reason why Gangle’s emotions are actually affected by her digital body? Like, when her comedy mask breaks, she actually gets depressed the way the tragedy mask looks. That can happen?

That's just how how it works for her.

The fact that Jax Makes a Willy wonka reference kind of confirms that he's not an NPC. When he says something about them getting "Augustus glooped" it would also be weird for a non candy rabbit character to have candy type knowledge or the entirety of a candy movie memorized.

Counterpoint to the Zooble thing, a lot of people love customizing and changing their avatars in game, and many like to change the looks on the daily

With Zooble, it's entirely possible they are simply non-binary or genderfluid. From personal experience, there is a desire to change parts of yourself or your appearance to fit the mental and emotional version of yourself better

Hey, how about some kind of furby or rocking horse? Maybe one with an elephant motif because circus! A Rubik's cube is another idea. A magic wand?

Caine with his circus (mostly a prison) and the stuff he's doing and how he portrayed in some case's gives me the vibe of "AM" from "I have No mouth but i must scream". ✌️🐰

I have a theory that kinger is actually the creator of the digital circus and got trapped inside the world trying to test out a game. Maybe Kinger knows how to fix the abstracted avatars but has lost hope of escaping and let a ai (Caine) control the game for him

So the entire theory that Jax is an NPC is due to him seeming to lack humanity? Digital circus sona? Perhaps something like a lion or a elephant? Surprisingly the show hasn't shown any circus animals yet.

It's worth noting that he specifically mentions testing better AI that episode, meaning it's unlikely an NPC was mistaken for a human. But I can see it happening the other way around.

My theory is that the NPCs are the abstracted humans. The abstracted have their minds split equally into each NPC. I feel like this is cus after Kufumo Abstracted Caine said he “improved” the ai of the NPCs

Kinger could be an NPC as far as we know. He was there the longest which means no one saw him manifest in the circus. He's also very unstable but doesn't abstract. His eye formation is the same as that of Candy Princess.
