    It doesn't really come up in the show, but canonically Bandit is an archaeologist, and Chili works at airport security. In other words, Bandit digs up bones, and Chili is a drug-sniffing dog.

    There are other jobs at an airport that aren’t just drug sniffing and stuff like that. There are probably other non-amphomorphic animals that have that job so the actual amphomorphic dogs can fly the planes and all that.

    My favourite thing about the production that occurred to me later is that, the way the episode finishes with the song and no spoken words, the Heeler family voice cast didn't know (even after recording) how the episode would finish! Lines up really well with the working title.

    Bluey hooked me with one single clip, Jack having ADHD and his sibling being like, "Why can't you do what your told?!" and he just responds, "I don't know...." hit me like a truck like he wasn't angry or anything it was such a serious moment of confusion. Like god, having ADHD it's pretty much that for me with my friends. "You weren't paying attention were you?" in something like dungeons and dragon and i'm like, Sorry no I kinda zoned out a bit... and they just get a bit frustrated with me. Bluey is my comfort show for sure.

    As someone who had an abusive set of parents, bluey is cathartic for those of us who didn't have the family dynamic. It makes me warm inside and I cry almost every episode, because it's just so wonderful to see a cartoon giving a generation of children and a family a guide map into how to be kind to one another. I just really feel very specific emotions when I watch this show. A lot of people grow up in healthy or normal homes, and some....just don't know what healthy is. But bluey gives that slice and it's so beautiful. I cry even at the silly non emotional episodes. Because it's living vicariously

    The best part is, like in a lot of modern animation, there is an overarching story in Bluey, but in Bluey its subtle and used more as a setpiece then a compelling narrative, which I haven't seen before, at least not done nearly this well. Remember when we had a whole episode about Bandit and his friends removing a stump, and Chili says "I want to put in a duck pond", and then half a dozen episodes later we have a whole episode about the duck pond being put in, Such a throw away line, that they could have never followed through with and nobody would have noticed. Bluey does this all over the place, it truely is a masterfully written animated series, one of the best in it's genre.

    One other thing just from listening to this I noticed, they pointed out how 'pulling out the sign' means it isn't for sale anymore. That wouldn't have been true if they just pulled it out at the beginning of the episode regardless of their child logic, but Bandit pulling it out at the end ended up making it true, and that's kinda beautiful too cause it then instantly translated to both Chilly AND the kids that they where in fact staying, and not leaving. I think that's also really hecken cool.

    But what about all the kids that DO have to move? 99% of kids are moving once the trucks are packed. This gives them horrible false hope, rather than helping them process a hard move and show how bluey and bingo can make new friends.

  • @genericname8727

    @genericname8727

    9 күн бұрын

    @@captnshrms parents can talk with their kids about the episodes and make it clear if their situation is different to what happens on a tv show. The advice given when they still thought they were moving can still apply, I’m sure, too. It’s unfortunately going to hurt children when they have to move away from friends and family regardless, but they’ll adapt if given support and kids typically make new friends fairly easily. Bluey has had episodes where Bluey and Bingo have to make new friends in a new environment, but making new friends after moving is tackled in a lot of kids shows if you feel it important they see that experience represented. The children’s movie “Inside Out” is about a child struggling after moving to a new place, and how sadness is a normal and healthy emotion to feel in such circumstances.

    The coin. Bluey's lucky coin in the wrong place which helped the couple planning on purchasing the Heeler household see another house that they would end up buying instead. + Without Bingo making Bandit late in that one episode she wouldn't be friends with Lila, and they wouldn't have helped the butterfly which led them to Frisky, therefore Bingo saved their home.

    I'm 24 and i've been living in the same house since childhood. But my grandpa is going to have to sell the house and my mom and I are going to have to move. No matter your age the idea of moving is terrifying once you really think about it. So many memories gathered in one place and eventually it'll all be gone (our house is on a flood zone so the state is gonna tear it down once the sale goes through). The thought that every single moment in that house is gonna be lost hurts and I hate when people say "oh you're an adult you'll be fine" or "stop acting like a child". That's the point! No matter what age you are it doesn't stop it from hurting. All your toys, furniture, even plates, being moved to a new home. One where you don't know each and every sqeaky floorboard to avoid so you can sneak around late at night, one where the kitchen feels smaller than you expect, one where the basement and the attic don't exist, no matter what it is, part of you is going to remember that house, YOUR house. The one where you knew every hiding spot, the one where you had the garden in the backyard, the one where you spent every christmas and halloween up until now. I know it'll eventually be okay but the thought of so many years of my life, so many memories, the place they were created not existing anymore hurts. And it'll always hurt. But that's okay, because it's all apart of growing up.

    I love that Winton actually says that his dad has a pool in Helicopter, so it's even hinted at so early on! This show's continuity is amazing and I love how the heelers and their friends actually feel like they live within a world, and not just a pastel void like Peppa Pig did back when I was a kid.

    As someone who has been following Bluey for years now, as well as someone in their late teens , I needed this show. I needed to hear that I wasn’t alone, that people felt lonely and sad and angry no matter who or where they were. I needed this so much, even if i’m just one person, during my early and mid-teens. I turn sixteen in a week and I’m scared, but if these cartoon dogs can move on with their lives and deal with big emotions, so can I. Thank you, Bluey. Thank you for everything.

A few forbid their kids from watching it anymore because it was so bad. He does all sorts of terrible, cruel things - including to a helpless baby - and never gets punished for it!

    The fact that Bluey pulls off it's flash-backs and implied future scenarios with planned out deliberation and consistency better than modern Simpsons, which recently retconned Homer as having grown up in the 90's to relate him to the modern adult audience instead of maintaining his 60's childhood and 70's adolescence, speaks to the skill, integrity and passion the show's creators and their writers and artists have for animation and their audience demographic.

    One of my favorite parts of this episode is when Frisky accuses Bandit of pressuring Chili to move away and Chili immediately jumped to his defense by saying she wanted to do it for the family. It shows how strong Bandit and Chili’s love is for each other.

    another big important callback to Stickbird most people miss while watching the episode is the way Bandit rips the sign from the ground and throws it away in the same way Bluey taught him and Bingo to throw away what upsets them, it's even the same camera angle. also another thing that separates Bluey from most family shows is how it allows the adults to actually express real emotions. through the entire episode we can notice both Bandit and Chili trying to keep themselves together and not let their true feelings about moving out leak so the girls wouldn't get concerned, yet from time to time we could see their doubts and genuine sadness about it. it is until the very end when both finally break, Bandit feeling anger towards the sign as we can tell by his body language and expression, and Chili crying her eyes out in happiness. there's something really special about the facts it's _them_ the ones having the strongest emotional reactions at the end instead of Bluey and Bingo. (also something funny but even the fact Winton's dad had a pool was foreshadowed back in the episode _Helicopter_ in season 2 as he mentions it while playing with Bluey. it didn't play any relevant role in the episode back then, but it sure did a HUGE comeback in The Sign)

So unfortunately she wouldn't be able to physically see Lila to play with her since it would likely be a lot of travelling distance from their city to the new city. Technology communications probably wouldn't work as well as physically being present to the friend for a child. Technology friendships work better for teens and adults, not so much for kids since they have to learn proper socialization in the real world instead of just the computer. As we know Bluey is not moving but you get the point.

    I feel like they entirely missed the point by not moving. As a child, an episode where they move and make new friends would be way more helpful to you than an episode where at the last minute no one moves and everything stays the same. What could have been a helpful episode for kids like you, just turned into a weird thing that never happens in real life (the parents decide they aren't moving after the trucks are already loaded) another annoying point for kids worried about moving, they are going to think it won't happen at the last minute.

    One of the reasons why bluey is 10x better than peppa pig, is because they know that old episodes exist and use them to add emotion, while peppa pig doesnt care and makes an episode not even talking about the past, acting like it never happened

  • @VaryaEQ

    @VaryaEQ

    Pepper Pig (and most kids shows) are written and animated and whatever else as if kids are stupid. Any kids story that stands the test of time is something that everyone can enjoy, kids and adults alike. I'm sure we can all think of those things we watched as kids, but as adults, we can't recall anything about them, and watching them back now is incredibly irritating (for me, it's Angela Anaconda). But then there's the "classics", like Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland, the things written with passion and respect for the intelligence of kids. Bluey does that. It recognises that kids are smarter than adults usually realise, that they pick up on things (like parents fighting).

    IIRC Bandit in Stickbird was said to be thinking of anything that troubles adults in life. The creator said it could be finances, workplace issues, or any other big issues. Joe even added a line about how putting something out in the world means its not necessarily yours anymore (which I think was a result of censorship or being told to change a scene or episode from how he was originally going to say it.) So my interpretation was that Bandit put something into the world, like a workplace discovery or paper, and someone else got the credit or the thing was ripped to shreds in talks. Though now it can be seen as him thinking about the job offer, before it most definitely felt like something else.

It was fun to watch for kids cus of the colours and shaps and stuff but man, it was extemely philosophical for adults. Nearly every episode had some complex themes and deeper meaning about life, dealing with depression, differences in relationships, growing old. A lot of sad themes now that i think about it... Fun for kids, philosophical for adults and scaring for teens. Loved it. I'd recommend looking into it and watching some popular clips. Hell, this had made me want to rewatch the entire thing. Like I think Socks in The Sign has more dialogue for her than the entire series. P.S. Anyone else think Socks was a boy until they referred to her as a girl? Like they're dogs so it's easier to have ambiguous designs but yeah, also it's interesting how the two heeler brothers have had only daughters, kind of contrasting with Chris and Bob only having boys.

I had to move. I wasn't as sad as I really could be, I was still prossessing that I had to move. I went to his house to play with him one last time. I took a picture with him and it was framed. I took the picture with me. I sat in my car. look at him. All of the sudden I got sad and then I was told that he was crying. Then my eyes started watering. I couldn't hang on to the fact that I wouldn't see him again, and that this was my last time seeing him. Years later, I still have the picture with me. Getting emotional everytime I see it. I haven't really heard from him in a while, but I hope he's okay.

    I kinda liked how they didn't say what Bandit was upset about in the beach episode. So it felt like it could apply to ANY situation that made you upset.

    I didn't have any of the connections that would have led to me discovering Bluey, if not for the way it's become discussed in videos like these. As somebody who works regularly with adolescents and sees and interacts with the process of their developing emotional intelligence, I am so glad to see media like this combining good storytelling with these insights for kids to look back on and consider through new lenses as they become available (as well as the way shared enjoyment between generations can foster healthier conversations and interactions between them).

    As someone who remembers being Bluey's age, I can confirm that kids can definitely pick up on the parents argument thing. They won't understand the deeper layer to it the way parents themselves would, but the general feelings of seeing people you care about not getting along isn't hard to understand.

    This episode felt like healing to me, it hit so hard because as a child i moved houses a lot and it just felt like i had no control over leaving my friends, my school and everything. It couldn't be helped, but it was always so sad, i felt so jealous of kids who were in the same place, same home since birth

    i babysit this 3 year old and she's has a bluey fase. when she is over i always put it on for her. you have this one episode were the dad is playing with both kids, but you see the younger sibling struling more and more with the rough playstyle as the day goes on. she gets upset and after a talk with mom they tell the dad that she doesn't like the rough play. they test bounderies together and all is well.... now back to my kid. at some point we get toying with eachother. when she suddenly gets really quiet and stammers "i don't like it no more, it hurts" and rubs her chest. having watched the episodes a dozen times with her, i realize she is copying the lesson she learned from bluey and told me the problem and adjusted the playstyle. wish this quality tv was available for me when i was a kid.

    When I was 13 my family had to move across the country for my dads new job. How Bluey tackled the feeling of having to move out of a home you’ve been in for years, a city you’ve always been in, and a town full of everyone you know and love is exactly how it feels. The dread, the anxiety, the unknowing-ness is all exactly what everyone in my family felt when we had to move. I’m so glad that unlike us, they actually stayed where they were! I will be honest tho, moving here was one of the best thing that could have happened to me!
