And for the record, I did the same thing- I flipped the reversible cover too. ;) My drawing is on the slip, so why not have something different displayed as the Blu-ray cover? I agree with you- 88 Films has been doing a fantastic job on these releases, and also about Mike Leeder and Arne Venema's audio commentaries. Funny and interesting facts throughout. Regarding those people griping about 88 Films vs. Eureka on classic Hong Kong films, you’re right: the grumbles are stupid and entitled (even when they’re technically right). Perfectly uncompressed audio and immaculate film stock granularity - or whatever - doesn’t make any film better, scarier, funnier or more thrilling. We’re at a point now where these films are getting quality treatments the likes of which they NEVER received during all of their original HK home video releases (on multiple formats), and even many international home video releases, and I’m happy with the “near” perfection that these releases represent, and feel no need to invest in future editions just because the audio’s been ‘refined’ 5% more. Hell, I still buy VCD’s when I stumble across them because they’re usually movies that ONLY exist now on that format. I’ve been a Hong Kong movie junkie since the mid-80’s and can say unequivocally that one of the most frustrating things about the hobby is its supposed fans, especially from my generation. 🙄 That’s why it’s nice to see younger (I assume) folks like you reviewing these releases and happily acknowledging that they’re still learning new stuff!

I totally agree with you! I really don't understand why people are griping about these releases, it's ridiculous to me. It's such a joy for me to be able to see these movies like this and have all the extra features to learn so much more about them with. Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you stumbled upon the channel and seem to be enjoying it.

It's so worth it! Some of the best commentary tracks out there for my money

The o Lu thing that upsets me is that I do not have a region free player. I wish these blu rays were region a,b,c like the HK blu rays of Jackie Chan's films.. I agree with you saying about only having a few friends who know what you are talking about, who watch these films as you do. Sometimes I do feel alone with that.

Yeah, it's frustrating this is Region B locked. Assuming that's how the deals work for getting the distribution rights, it's probably done by territory.

I am pretty sure PlayStations have region encoding the same way Blu-ray players do. So, if you have a European PlayStation, this will play fine. If your PlayStation is from anywhere else in the world, you would need to hack it in order to get this disc to play. I'm pretty sure there is a way to switch the region encoding on a PlayStation or make it multi-region, but I think it involves downloading software or installing something that is basically a hack to the Playstation system, and can do stuff like a void your warranty. I honestly don't know much about this because I don't really play video games, but I have friends who do and they've told me something along those lines.
