That decision was 100% strategic, Gothy checked out and was unsure if she could even step up next ep, judging by how stiff she is in every challenges and runways I’m pretty sure she’s gonna bomb the rusical again next week. Keta could still bounce back to the top with choreo challenges coming up and her runways are very good so she’s a threat sadly.

Ah, Gothy Gothy…it became apparent in this episode why she’s so stiffed on the runway, besides the need to practice her walk a bit to be more fluid. To explain it in a few words, it’s almost as if Gothy’s got a stick up her 🍑 behind. Not as in “snobbish”, but more as being apprehensive to let go, figuratively and literally. I know she stated that during series 1, she was embarassed because of the state of her teeth, and therefore she wasn’t used to speak up. Now she got her teeth fixed, but it’s as if because she’s spent the majority of her life not speaking for being self-conscious about those teeth, even though she has a nice smile, the reserved demeaner is not going to go overnight. When RuPaul asked her to do Ozzy Osbourne, I get the first take being soft, but even after being encouraged to just go for it, she just couldn’t let go: it was still at “ROAR” level. I believe it’s not necessarily her drag that has yet to evolve, it’s Sam, the person behind Gothy. Sam is still looking for who Sam is, so it all makes sense. And it feels like Sam hasn’t been able to let Gothy take over when Gothy is “fronting”, cause drag is probably one of the most facinating ways to express yourself and let it go. But this isn’t easy. And also, drag race is a show where contestants are both “themselves” and their drag personas - and in Gothy’s case, I think it’s Sam who is struggling really. Gothy might be doing extremely well if you go see her on stage. It also reminds me of Kameron Michaels who is top notch as Kameron, but Dane (or Duane…not sure now…and if I look it up, I’ll end up on another tengeant) is the one who was struggling on the show, hesitating to show himself, reserved. Yet, afterwards on social media (well till the hiatus, short come back to talk about adhd, followed by another ongoing ghosting session) he had a huge following and even on their no so great days, was really funny and relatable. And well, welcome to my humble opinion TED talk, sponsored by my ADHD! 😉 Anyhow, getting back to Gothy, I’m glad she stayed. Yet Keta had a better track record, but going home on a challenge you won on your original season, as Bob TDQ would say: “This is wild!” Keta and Gothy had a similar issue: they were in their heads and couldn’t let go. Gothy is still in the process of learning; and I hope she takes up on Ru’s advice when she was asking Gothy to go for it and let go. This applies not just on the show, but it’s platinum level life advice from Mama Ru herself. And well, being surrounded by other queens that are not from her circle (as we tend to gravitate towards people that are often like us, so I’m thinking it’s similar in the drag world. So those she tours or work with, as well as the company she keeps might be some homogeny. While on the show, and hopefully after the show, she’s in contact not only with queens from around the world, most of them with a different type of drag aesthetics and skills set. Like how great for growth to be with a queen like Hannah Conda, who not only has a very high work ethic, but is campy yet extremely polished, to the point where she was given a “too perfect” edit. But Hannah goes for it, she commits to whatever she does. Gothy probably isn’t going to win DR anytime soon, but she’ll be winning at life if she takes the guidance from other queens. Marina is another great mentor I feel. They are probably similar in age, but Marina exudes confidence, and it doesn’t feel like arrogance or trying to shade people. She knows what she can do, and she believes in putting the work and her best foot fwd and just go for it for the tasks she may not master as much. She believes in her abilities. So hopefully, Gothy soaks in what some of what her sisters exude.

@@emmakirk9194 Well, she might be in the bottom next week, but it doesn’t mean she’s leaving! It all depends on the top 2 of the week and who wins the lip sync, and with whom she’s in the bottom with. There are different strategies and points of views. As she’s most likely seen as the weakest link of the current remaining queens, someone might take the opportunity to illuminate someone else. There’s the school of thoughts about competing against the best, therefore eliminating the “bottom feeders”; while there’s the here’s my chance to get rid of one of the best competitors right now, getting the obstacle out of the way as soon as possible…why wait? Let’s just take the opportunity when it presents itself. And in the paraphrased wise words of Heidi N’ Closet: if I eliminate the best as soon as I can, then I’m competed against the best and was triumphant. Just so happened that it was cut short. Yet, some people might not feel as deserving if they win against people that may appear not as strong. Well, often is not just the individual but also the community. It doesn’t take much for people to try to invalidate someone’s success or question their merit. Like for example (I’m using this cause it’s out there), would Trixie Mattel be the winner of AS3 if Shangela was a finalist? And some competitors prefer to be with who they perceive as “strong competition” because if they win, yep they beat one of the bests (but again let’s reminder the wise words of Heidi), but for some, it fuels them, and it challenges them. Just off of head here, but just thinking of S16 and the designs/sewing challenges. We’ve seen, from her package alone, that Q’s skills are 💣! Nymphia is skilled. Dawn is out-of-the-box, and there are others who can turn up great self-made garment like Sapphira and Plain Jane. But, I’m feeling that if Nymphia, Q and Dawn weren’t “competing” against each other, we might not have had some of the looks we’ve seen. Because any of them could have won. So neither of them can slack off because nobody’s got it in the bag. So they are probably giving more, pushing more, attempting more because they have to in order to hopefully secure a win. Let’s just think for a second about Jorgeous who won a design challenge on S14…let that sink in…if I’m Q or Nymphia going against Jorgeous, I might still produce an extremely well made outfit that is fashion, etc. but will I go above and beyond with my concept? Will I be super ambitious with the project as there isn’t much time for execution? It also can work the other way, thinking of Sapphira who seem to have great design skills, she’s got the technical abilities, but with Q, Nymphia and Dawn, at least for the neogothic challenge, she knew competition was stiff, and the style was out of her element. She wasn’t going for the win. She was going for a simple but effective concept, well-executed but “safe”. Going off script for the win by going above and beyond to surpassed a 3 might have backfired. So anyhow, Gothy might still be around for a while. I don’t think she would self-eliminate as she’s saying she’s having fun. Yep, of course she’s under pressure. DR is a pressure cooker environment to start. And she’s being challenged, she’s being pushed out of her comfort zone, and that is hard. Period. And it’s fast-paced. It’s not like she has weeks and weeks to process each episodes. As soon as one “week” ends, within minutes they’re onto the next; cause really each episode is just 2-3 days. But I think she understands the value of being there, even though she might feel out of her league. And she “survived” Snatch Game. Yet she landed in the bottom, but she didn’t bombed per se in my opinion. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t cringy. It just wasn’t funny. And Tia chose to keep her around (and we shall see her reasoning next week), but that might actually infuse some fire in Gothy.

Keta just can't catch a break. 💔 Very sad to see her go. I'm glad more people were introduced to her this season though. So happy Tia and Scarlet did well in the Snatch Game. Proud of them!

As a Canadian native French speaker, I actually “feel” La Grande Dame’s jokes. Not hilarious, but it was there. Maybe the sense of humour didn’t translate too well. There are some cultural aspects to humour. I’m not that familiar with Karla Brüni though, but I heard the name. But from my perspective, she didn’t do that bad. I think RuPaul being hung up on LGD’s French accent from the start didn’t help. “Oh you already got a French accent, blah blah…” LGD’s French accent isn’t actually that strong to start with, but somehow Mama Ru’s is just focussing on it. I remember when Maddy Morphosis interviewed Nicky Doll, well I think it was that interview as I watched a few things with Nicky around the same time. Anyhow, Nicky said that she had been pigeon-holed in that PePe LePew kind of stereotype role…and well, PePe is an American-made concept. The yes, there was somewhat of a language barrier for the challenge she went home on; but it was mostly the “box” production had put her in. Personally, I think at times it’s not necessarily a language issue but it’s cultural. Different cultures in general will find different things as being funny. For example, as someone who grew up in Canada in a French environment, British humour doesn’t tickle my bones generally speaking even if I understand the language. And well, a lot of it that I have been exposed to was physical comedy - British comedy shows have been around in Canada, so we would still get them even on French TV. And well, shows like Seinfeld? I don’t get what’s funny about it; I’ll smile here and there, but I have never laughed out loud. Of course, I’m not the supreme authority in terms of what’s funny -but Mama Ru sure is on her show. And more often than not, I don’t really get why she’s laughing so much. Now the “business of laughing” is a very serious subject where I come from. There’s even a national comedy school called École Nationale de l’Humour (ENH) and Montreal hosts the largest comedy festival in the world with Just for Laughs. While I’m thinking about it, I notice that there’s often a lot of criticism about Rita Baga, and that she maybe is “overrated”. I agree that she often looks boxy in her aesthetic, but I think some people don’t appreciate her because of the cultural differences. Which brings me to another DR YT show was talking about DR Belgique and how the challenge where they had to do political speeches was meh. Not that I found it crazy funny, but I think the humour and the culture didn’t translate well. I’m not from Belgium, but because I’ve been exposed to francophone culture, I can appreciate it more.

I like how all 3 versions of Rupaul's drag race have a different style of snatch game

Keta going home is so dumb. Her runway shouldve saved her from the btm2, she shouldve been low instead of LGD. And even with her being btm2, Gothy didnt even want to stay while Keta clearly wanted to stay really bad. I feel bad for her

I'd find it hilarious if there was a run of crazy/dimented international queens just doing Shirley Temple cause this is the second one 😂

I feel bad for Gothy. I don't think she's checked out, I just think she's struggling with herself. My boyfriend watches this with me, and he relates a lot to Gothy in the sense of having to overcome those internal obstacles. I'm happy Gothy got to stay, but I'm not happy that that was at Keta's expense. I also kinda thought that the top two should've been Scarlet and Hannah because I didn't care for Tia's runway. Love the video though! I always look forward to your Saturday uploads after both s16 and UKvTW2 air :). You're genuinely my favorite drag race review content creator ❤️

And there was a challenge on one of the UK seasons where they were doing this blended reality TV challenge, and one of the characters was based on Kim Woodburn.

I'm sorry but how did no one laugh at LgD model vs super model joke!? It was so clever. Is it because in the UK and US people don't know what a gram is?? The joke was that supermodels weigh a few less grams (are thinner) because they consume a few more grams of coke!

Yeah i think Ru got the joke. It's just that it's a classic joke you could find anywhere in a joke book or online. I've literally heard the same joke before. It WAS her funniest joke though and i was expecting a bit of a laugh at least, but unfortunately it wasn't delivered super well.

Now Scarlet and her Snatch Game. She said some interesting somewhat funny things considerate the format of the show, but why oh why that “accent”? Mama Ru being all up in La Grande Dame’s face at the walk through and on the main stage about her French accent which seems to distract RuPaul, but it was an important part of the character and LGD’s. Yet, Ru didn’t say anything (unless it didn’t air) about Scarlett’s weird mixed accent of what felt to be an amalgam of Brooklyn, Statten Island, well all 5 boroughs of NYC in general but with a side a New Jersey with a pinch of Southern. It was like Napolitan ice cream coming out of her mouth: several flavours all at once. I get the statue of Liberty is located in NYC, but let’s remember it was a gift from France. So I get being immersed daily by groups of tourists and locals, but adopting the accents? I feel Scarlett had somewhat good interactions with Ru, and that she came up with interesting answers. As a SN virgin, she earned a “save-high” from me. Without that terrible accent, it it would have been even better: less distraction. And Gothy did alright as Kim. She wasn’t really funny, but she was commited and on point with the character. She somewhat embraced the role, but it’s the improv skills and confidence that were lacking- and of course the jokes: where are the jokes! I’m personally familiar with Kim from like 10 years ago on episodes of How Clean is Your House vs the reality TV shows she took part in in recent years. And the episodes of HCIYH that I have watched, and there have been quite a few, she’s very strict, and almost austere. She’s the tough one while Addy (I think) McKenzie is the soft and nice one. Being a recorded show, she might have behaved in a more proper manner; which seems to be reflected in Gothy’s portrayal. As I said, not really funny, but she answered the questions in a timely manner, her answers were satisfactory; but she didn’t really hesitate or stumble, answers were somewhat appropriate. But she was just too serious about it, reflecting Kim’s demeanour. Maybe that’s where the 🥢in the 🍑 come from: she’s been practicing to be Kim Woodburn since the beginning love. But Keta?! Ouch! It’s almost like the McDonald team, even Marina who got a few punches in, did not understand the assignment: to make Mama Ru and others laugh by providing funny answers to stupid questions while impersonating a celebrity or character. I think they missed the page where it was supposed to be funny. The format might have had an impact as to how they answer as the questions were of a different style. Well, some people tried, like La Grande Dame with her “meat” answer, but either it didn’t translate or the delivery missed the mark. But in principle, this is kind of funny: a man being considered a piece of meat.

La Grande Dame was right, the McDonald woman was the hilarious one on their team.. . The only one unfortunately. I actually really liked her (had no idea who she is).

I love Keta and she was the stronger and more well rounded of the two and she absolutley deserved to stay BUT a little part of me wanted Tia to keep Gothy just for the chaos. I can't believe Gothy has made it 5 episodes 😂😂

I definitely agree with the top 2 for sure because they were funny af. As for whether I agree with Tia keeping Gothy over Keta, I can’t say. I think that as a competitor I probably would’ve eliminated Keta personally.

I do think it should have been Tia and Scarlett top 2 . And LGD + Gothy bottom two, but then it was almost obvious they wouldn't choose LGD to go..

I really like Keta, and never mind what she did on her season’s snatch game (I haven’t watch DRH), but she was dropping the character, the accent was so not it, and maybe that’s why she was dropping in and out, the look as Fran Drescher was not it, and the answers…muah muah muah… Gothy missed a major part of the assignment: giving funny answers to stupid questions. But: she was in character, she didn’t really drop her. Now I know Kim Woodburn from How Clean is Your House from episodes of like 10 years ago; but I haven’t really seen her in the reality TV shows she took part in in recent years. On HCIYH, she was very strict, proper, almost like a matron. And as it was a recorded kind of lifestyle show, it was more “proper” in terms of what makes it to the air, esp. I seem to recall that episodes were like 30 min long, so 22 min of footage. And in the duo with Addy (I think) McKenzie, Kim was the tough, strict, no-sense and proper one, while Addy was the jolly and sympathetic one, presenting scientific facts and being nice. And Gothy’s portrayal reminds me of Kim from that time. But from what I hear, she was quitt unleashed on Big Brother UK or whatever it is she was on. After all, I can’t remember which season of DRUK (4 maybe?) where they did that reality shows kind of skit, and one of the characters was based on Kim while she was on TV. As for LGD, well I’m not blind…I can see that her performance fell flat. But the downhill decent started when Ru started to make a sting about the exaggerated French accent…that was it. It really didn’t matter what LGD did after that: Ru was stuck on it. Now, I’m not that familiar with Karla Brüni even though I’m familiar with the name. Regardless, I could appreciate LGD’s performance. She stayed in character and went for it. The main problem (beside Ru being distracted by the accent) was that she did drop jokes…they just didn’t land. I think her delivery timing, where the language barrier is definitely a factor (but it can also play in your favor, just think of Jessica Wild), was well…OFF! And the attempted jokes? Well what we saw on the edit, they were not super funny. However, I could appreciate the attempt, and I think some of what she said may not have translated very well, for cultural or language reasons. As I’m a native French speaker, and I know a think or 2 about francophone culture, I can see the wheels turning as to what she wanted to say and how it’s somewhat funny. But if your audience doesn’t have a lot of points of reference, and your discourse is like meh, well you’re toast. I enjoyed Scarlett’s idea, her responses, her physical performance, but the accents!!! It’s like she was all 5 boroughs of NYC at once, with a dash of Jersey and a hint of a Southern accent. To quote Bob TDQ: “That was wild!” I’m glad it wasn’t too long cause I’m not sure how long of that I was able to take. I get that the statue of liberty is located on NYC, and she’s visited by tourists and locals, but wth would she appropriate a bunch of accents all at once? Unless of course that choice was the joke, then I missed it. As soon as she started with that I was annoyed. Because it’s not like Scarlett was using her own accent either (cause Ru said they can still be themselves). Like the statue itself is French!!! Anyhow, Scarlett did well, especially as a SG virgin. That being said, she usually does well at acting, presenting, stuff of that nature as she appears comfortable and confident, which is often 75% of the battle, something Gothy still has to learn.

Tia is keeping Gothy because in case Tia has a flop on the next episode Gothy can be an easy choice to eliminate.

Hannah and Scarlet should've been top 2. Scarlet's runway was better than Tia's and they both were at an even level during snatch game. Hannah was the funniest so she deserved that 1st placement. I think Tia chose the wrong queen to go home. Gothy has no potential to win any challenges as of now with these heavy hitters because she isn't season yet (after 5+ years..) so she can't ever save Tia if she won and Tia was in the bottom. However, it is very strategic to keep a weaker player in the game so you can move further in the competition. I don't think Tia needs to worry about Gothy saving her because lets face it, she won't be in that position lol. Keta was a stronger competitor and would be in Tia's way from winning the crown. I can see both sides truly. Would've loved to see Keta stay longer.

Keta was robbed once again! I’m so upset. She would have slayed the next challenge. Choriza should have been in the bottom. That’s the problem with this format - they are so stuck on country versus the world. It should be global all stars, should have been that way from the very beginning. Tia wanted her greater threat gone

At this point Gothy Kendoll really is out of place. So many next level queens this season Hannah, Marina, LGD, Scarlet, also Tia having a great glow up this season... Having Gothy still there is actually uncomfortable to watch. She do not even know how she can improve when asked 😂 I understood her being saved in episode 1 to give her time to shine but she has not shined yet... Also, I agree with Michelle about LGD. She is funnier than this, that was just lazy and I also wanted to shake her lol . Carla Bruni is not funny at all, even as a first lady of France back in the day she was no comedy material, no idea what she was thinking in picking her as a snatch game.

Hannah and Tia were amazing , I preferred Hannah’s Shirley Temple from Jimbo’s cause she really embodied the character .. and I actually really enjoyed this lip sync

I’m happy to see Tia’s growth, but I still don’t think she’s that fierce. Her decision was purely based on her ability to beat Gothy. I’m so sad to see Keta go. Sigh.

My theory is that they purposefully cast mediocre UK and US queens because they want a foreign winner for season 2 of UKvtW. It would seem even more rigged if a UK queen won again (by default). Where is DDC, Bimini, Tayce, A'Whora, Ella Vaday etc. Across all of the UK contestants there is one win from an original season which is...telling.
