DR Congo Tells Apple to Cease & Desist using "Blood Minerals" in iPhones | Vantage with Palki Sharma

DR Congo Tells Apple to Cease & Desist using "Blood Minerals" in iPhones | Vantage with Palki Sharma
The Democratic Republic of the Congo has issued a notice to Apple. The DRC has formally asked the iPhone maker to cease & desist. The country says that Apple is using "Blood Minerals" from the DRC in its products. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is mineral rich, and it has an abundance of Tin, Tungsten and Tantalum. These three minerals are used in the manufacturing of phones. But the minerals are found in conflict zones. Various armed groups control vast swathes of territory in the Eastern DRC, and they force the local Congolese population to mine the resources. So the resources that the western companies are using, are often stained with the blood of innocent Congolese people.

@@ndagijimanasebastien9707 is it the Congolese people who made those borders?? does that give your government the right to fight with innocent people, there are many kingdoms and tribes in Africa that were divided by colonial borders not only Rwanda. For example there are Maasai people in Kenya and Tanzania who speak the same language but they respect the boarders, so just because they speak Kinyarwanda in Congo, doesn't mean that your country can come and steal minerals. Rwanda is a small country. stop telling LIES.

@winnethdubeoly in all honesty, I don't think I will be able to point here the chip factory. But what I can point out is Rwanda's involvement in the DRC conflict. You should deny that Rwanda had never been on the side of the rebels as far as the DRC conflict is concerned. When SADC forces were deployed to DRC in 1998, Rwanda was controlling the rich mineral province of Kivu. It is a cheap point to point fingers outside while one of our own is fueling the instability, too. I get your premise, Rwanda doesn't have the factory, and so does M23 they don't own a factory. They know the market. And if you find the outfit name M23 not African enough, then I will tell you to wait until you see their faces. Yes, they all look native and can Rwanda do business with them if it's so desirable? Yes, Rwanda can. But we all that's just March 23, unless you tell me we don't use Gregory calendar. Rwanda has a hand in the DRC conflict period. But I may be wrong, only that I am not alone seeing that shadow hand.

The US destabilized DRC by killing its first leader Patrice Lumumba and installing its puppet Mobutu Sseseseko. Mobutu and his Western masters looted DRC for decades. Now, the US uses Rwanda and Uganda to continue to destabilize DRC for the very same purpose of looting DRC.

This is the benefit of having a multipolar global society: BRICS, allows the world financial reserves a logical positive change in the way we fund, distribute, and govern ourselves. As such, it is safe to seek justice within some sort of logically positive outcome in mind. Please continue :)

First off. Apple does not manufacture any products. They design them. The manufacturer is actually Chinese companies. Just look at any IPhone, laptop, or other product...You will see..."Made in China". Second, the minerals are coming from Chinese owned mines in the DRC. I don't see what the cease order could possibly mean except a way for the government asking for a bribe.

Thank you my Sister Palki for speaking for my country, this is very true what you are saying. If Rwanda was ruled by wise people we could've built a strong economy. But Kagame is busy listening to western's country leaders who are leading him in total mess. Truth is very stubborn Mr Kagame thought that truth will never come out of things that he has been doing since many years. That guy has killed millions in DR congo looking for these 3 minerals.
