Been using DPP for years. Thanks for answering so many questions I've had about many of the functions it offers. Have tried other editing software but keep coming back to DPP.

Hi Dom, A few months ago I decided to buy a new computer system, and yesterday I received my new 16” MacBook Pro (M1 max; with 32GB internal memory and 2 TB hard disk). I really like Canon DPP for its colors and output of my R5 raw files. I was hoping my new MacBook pro M1 max would speed up the program. DPP runs with Rosetta in Montery and after using DPP (4.16 for MacOS, used with Rosetta) I’m a bit troubled. Opening a R5 raw file (with DLO standard and auto lighting optimiser turned on in camera) it takes 60 seconds to stop the activity circle from spinning.. Without DLO and lighting optimiser it takes about 30 seconds. Exporting the CR3 file to a TIFF (in DPP) takes more than 40 seconds. Is it just me or is this really slow? Do you think a desktop PC (which I can build myself, with a new (12th gen i9 Intel processor) will be any faster? I can still return the MacBook..

Hi Gijs, Thank you for the comment. I use a HP Omen Gaming Lap top with 32GB of RAM and I7-8750H CPU 2.21 GHz. Also have a 2T Samsung SSD and I also wait for quite a long time sometimes for photos the activity circle to stop spinning. I think that is due to the DPP4 software itself. Previously I was using 16GB of RAM and a slower Hard Drive and I haven't noticed much improvement on DPP4.
