I found the Canon 80D and 90D will do HDR Compositing In the camera. Works with JPEG and RAW files. Any idea how well this works in comparison to DPP4 HDR Compositing?

Hey Dom I'm wondering if you can help, I've been re-editing some old milky way images and decided to save the edited recipe as a file so as to just be able to right click and read recipe and paste on later images that have the same shot settings. For example I saved a recipe for 1 shot at f2.8, 13sec, iso 6400, but when I paste that recipe to another image shot at those settings it's not pasting everything that was saved in said recipe like changes to the colour section and I'm not sure why

Hi Rob, thanks for the question. That's a tricky one...are you using the 'Edit -> Read and paste recipe from file' option? I have just tried creating one where I adjusted nearly all the settings as a test and then applied it to a bunch of different photos taken with various lenses and setting and it seems to be copying over all the settings. You mentioned the color section, is that the one with all the individual colors adjustment or Is there anything specific that it doesn't copy for you? I would suggest possibly trying to create and saving a new recipe file to see if maybe there is not something wrong with the previous file. Also you could do a similar test to what I did, adjust everything to a specific value (like 1 for example) then save the recipe and apply to a different photo just to see if it copies everything over in the new recipe. Lastly, and I'm sure you have checked but are you applying the recipe to a RAW file? Because JPGs etc might not have all the same settings enabled in DPP4.

KINDLY LET ME KNOW HOW TO PROCESS HEIF OR HEIC SHOTS BY DPP4

Hi and thank you for the question, here is my understanding of it, DPP is for Raw development only very limited use for JPEG, TIFF and I'm guessing HEIF. HEIF is already developed and it is supposedly better than jpeg as it holds more data AFAIK but I've no personal experience with it. DPP is a raw converter and it can have some limited functionality for jpegs and Tiffs but doesn't offer all the editing tools for these,

I have downloaded Canons latest DPP4 and when I try to edit a photo the brightness adjustment tab will not work in the tool palette, other than that everything else works fine . I am running a brand new Windows 11 PC.

Hi Greg, thanks for the question...the only reason I can think of that the brightness is unusable is that you are editing a JPG image. It will be usable if you try it with a RAW photo file.

Hi Ketan, Thanks for the question. I have not come across and option that lets you stich panoramas in DPP4 unfortunately.

You skipped a very important step for a beginner like me: How do you put multiple images on the editing screen (in this case three)?

Hi Leonard, thank you for watching, you can find the very first tutorial that I did on the link below, this explains how to access images from your PC in DDP4. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nYaIzbSyl8rLobg.html

@@DomsMediaZone Within a few minutes of posting my comment, I found the solution to my problem and deleted the comment, but somehow it has reached you (probably because you had got it already in the notifications). All I needed to do to get the three photos with different exposures on the screen was to click the "browse" buttons that appear when you click "HDR compositing." Stupid of me not to have figured it out the first time. Correct me if I am wrong, but the video you linked to doesn't touch on the topic of HDR compositing and my problem (now resolved). Thanks for replying anyway!

@@leonardsvideos7353 Aha! Thanks for letting me know, for some reason I though you were asking how to get the photos to show in DPP4 from your PC folders. Glad you figured it all out.
