I am just starting out with DPP and haven't even opened a photo yet, but your presentation is clear, precise and very useful to the beginner like myself. Also the listing of the sections in the time line list is also very useful. I just bought a Canon RP and I was able to download DPP freely. I also use the EOS Utility 3 to take my product photography photos and it is fantastic to be able to see the scene on my iMac 24" M1.

I usually use photoshop elements, but I recently got an rf 16mm for my R5, and I need a way to use DPP to get the lens profile and make basic edits, then save as TIFF to further edit as needed in Photoshop Elements. This is exactly the information I needed. Cheers, Ted

A film user from way back, I only recently acquired my first digital SLR, a 1D Mk2N with which I’ve already taken some beautiful images, but until now I’ve only availed myself of JPEGS. Your DPP4 series has opened up the world of RAW to me & I look forward to working with it! BTW to those who’ve posted about your rapid style: Even on my 17-year old laptop there is a “settings” function on the video screen which allows playback at 3/4 speed, so the vast amount of information can be easily digested! 🙂

Thanks a lot for this tutorial. I have been wondering how useful this software is as it is free and have been looking for an alternative to Lightroom.

Dom really enjoy your videos and as I only use DPP to edit my photos I find they help me a lot, my question is does DPP able you to get a similar affect to "dodge and burn" and how does the colour blur work and affect your photo, I look forward to your response, keep up the good work. Regards George.

Hi Dom, I looked at this video and am very happy to now have Photo PRofession working. However, I am having trouble figuring out Video mode and how I save the video onto the computers (my camera is 1300D but I think that's not so important).

Once again, a very interesting tutorial. Thanks a lot! BTW, how do you find canon noise reduction for quality compared to, for example, to ACR?

Thank you for the feedback. To be honest I find that they both work pretty good and if the noise is minimal it's very difficult to notice the difference.

Loved watching the videos and I did download the DPP4 however I found that on my M1 mac it did not work so well for me. Looks like Im staying with Lightroom.

I thank you for the excelent and extremely clear tutorial. I'd like to ask you a question about downloading the photos from the camera or memory card. How do you organize them? Do you take a short look at them where thy are, create named folders and then select and grab a group of photos that belong to the theme and drop them there? Is there a better way to do it?

Hi thank you for watching and for the question. I usually have a folder for all my photos and in there I have subfolders with the name of the place they were taken and the dates. Once I import the photos from my camera into the folder I do an initial sort and get rid of anything that I know I don't like or won't use. The rest I end up editing and correcting and I just leave them there as JPGs, unless I think they are really great and I might use them in the future for printing or to post somewhere then I leave a separate sub folder for the RAW files. I also back up all my photos to an external hard drive every now and then. Probably not the best process but that's how I do it.
