DoorDash Tipping Changes| How They Affect Dashers in 2020

DoorDash made changes to the customer app, as far as what they see for tipping options at checkout, in my market. I'm sure those changes hit different markets at different times. How has this change to the DoorDash customer app affected Dashers? I share lots of details and evidence of not only the bad, but also the good with these particular changes. Have you seen an increase in earnings as a direct result, or a loss in earnings? Been wondering why you haven't been seeing as many high tipping offers in the last few months? In this video, you will get the answers to all of these questions, and much more!!

    I did 180 order last night 5.75 base pay. Took it based on item count and restaurant price. Thinking would be higher pay at end. Dropped off to 0 tip. Called dd to complain and they said customer ordered direct through restaurant so the restaurant kept the tip. Restaurant says they cant get tips. So which one is lying? Dd stealing tips again, or restaurant lying? Live and learn. Wont do it again.

    Thanks for the compliment! I have ADHD myself, so boring teachers always lost me quick. Gave me an appreciation for those who present their content well. I write notes on a whiteboard and prepare my videos, before hopping on and shooting. A lot more time and thought go into my videos, than MOST creators that just hop on a phone camera and spew their OPINIONS. We all have opinions, but how useful are they really?? I prefer to present the facts and give suggestions based off my own experiences and successes.

    I'm still sort of a newbie, 4 months with 2000 deliveries, so I am still experimenting. I noticed that a few customers like to order lots of items from higher end, Asian restaurants, from 6 to 8 miles out of my area, with less than a dollar a mile delivery and then they don't tip or cash tip at the end. I have been accepting them as a learning process. Sometimes after I accept I get another better paying delivery en route that takes the sting out. However it is insulting that someone would make such an order, from such a distance and not even tip a buck in cash at the end! In the future they will be declined or unassigned.

    perhaps the lower totals with dollar tip suggestions is to use the customer to supplement the total payout due to lower profit margins. And the higher total order amounts are offering a lower percentage because Doordash will pay out more for the larger orders due to higher profit margins? Or is the base pay still the same regardless?

  • @GigCoachJake

    @GigCoachJake

    4 жыл бұрын

    Base pay is the same regardless. You're right in the fact that the higher tipping options on the lower $$ orders, are in fact to help boost the offer $ amount to give it a higher chance of being completed right away without DD having to add $ to the offer. They're most definitely taking advantage of the customers!! Somebody has to pay, since more gig workers are working smarter these days. Even more will be, after they've filed their taxes and get raped by the IRS.

    I’ve started noticing here in California that they are limiting us to around $15hr give or take but pretty close. I’m sure this is to keep down and minimize damages they will need to pay during lawsuits however it’s starting to be crap. Especially when you factor in gas,taxes,etc. I thought it was just me at first but I’ve noticed a few other dashers here having the issue. Not sure if that’s happening in AZ but they will idle me after I reach around $15hr and then when the clock gets to 59min since the time I started a order for $7 or so magically comes in and it’s a small distance.

Then I saw a few videos recently about GrubHub doing 30 day block suspensions for low AR, so I decided I better reinstall DoorDash and keep my account active as a backup. Right away, I got an $8.50 offer for like 2.4 miles. It was a family pack @ Wingstop. Quick easy $8.50. I think the tip was $5.00. Way better than I was seeing before on these smaller orders! Maybe I should give DoorDash another chance and see if all these smaller subtotal orders add up to better pay than I'm getting with GrubHub taking about 3 deliveries per 4 hour dinner shift waiting around for those big subtotal / big tip offers to ring through... 🤔
