Door Not Closing Fix🔥👀
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
If your 1995 Ford F-150 or OBS Bronco door doesn’t latch tight when you try to close it, you need to replace the bushing on the strike pin. These strike pin bushings can be found in the help section at most auto parts stores. If you don’t want to spend the money for one of those or you can’t find them. You can always buy half inch pex piping and cut one inch section off of it and use that as a strike pin bushing

👍 Hinge pins also can be the cause, door sag kills the bushing. Hard door closure deteriorates interior door panels, trim and speakers

I bought a 6ft tube of PEX for about $5. Been using it for over a year and they still look brand new.

Blue pex is for cold water though. Not for Ford door latch bushings. U should always use the correct color pipe for the job
Good ole fords, I used to sell those bushings over and over, plastic fantastic
Ford tip #3. Front disc brakes on an f100 have rubber bushings. They do not come w any rebuild kit. Use rubber fuel hose.
I've never had that particular issue. It's normally the hinge bushings that we're out

Not on a ford is it
Also gotta make sure the door is aligned right, or else you’ll need another striker. Had to do a Mack truck door last week
Best color on an OBS Ford. My first vehicle (after getting my license) was a one owner SCSB 95, tow package, 280,000 miles in color code JA. It's name was Barney. It's the only vehicle I've gotten rid of that I continue to miss. I also had to replace the door strikers on the driver's side like 3 times, and the door pins/bushings once.

My door in my crown vic would rattle when I hit a bump or pot hole. I put a piece of rubber tubing over that pin. FIXED IT.

Ok now I’m buying a length of pex if I don’t have any laying around lol
Ok wow that’s really interesting and great to know thanks a lot for sharing I was wondering why my truck wouldn’t catch right thought it was the door out of alignment
You can also use nylon bushing inserts from trailer leaf springs. They are cheap like borscht and last for ever. I have some on my square body going on 5 years now. Still haven’t replaced them. Yes my square body is my daily.
i used the one in the help section on mine but found i had to sand down the plastic part because the diameter was a little too big to work smoothly. been 2 years of daily driving since that repair and it’s holding up!
@TheMinuteMasters

Nice! You’re not the only one I’ve seen having to do that. I kind of think the replacement bushings are all a little big.
Hinge pins and bushings are a common culprit as well. Quick fix if it's an old junker, put a jack under the open door and go up slowly just a little bit until the door works as desired.
We always just beat’em with a hammer til the door latches, it’s a ford it can take it👍

there is a lot of comments hear about various plastic pipe options and how long they last, I replaced mine with 1/2" copper, works great, and will out last any plastic out there
I've heard of some people using brass bushings as well. They say it's much more durable.

I just cut the bushing in half and push them on it works just as well

Thanks man!🤙 yup you definitely need the bushing.
If you look closely at your latch pin assembly, you will see that your pin has been pushed in ever so slightly, as evidenced by the sliver of discoloration around the right side of the silver colored metal section against the blue paint. Loosen that T-50 and pull the latch assembly back out to its original position and tighten it back up. see if the door latches properly, before replacing the bushing.
I used to use a piece of a cheap metal broom handle as a temporary bushing

Also have to adjust the placement sometimes, had to slide mine foward an 8th of an inch, to get the door to shut properly with a light door close, no more slamming the door. Which does feel good sometimes.

Hey that's great idea using the blue piping that's probably what wrong with my 90 f150 driver door
@TheMinuteMasters
Жыл бұрын
Yeah the blue pex is cheap and very easy to cut. Plus you get a life’s supply of replacement bushings. Lol
Mine were completely gone when I replaced them makes a huge difference in shutting the door
On my 96 the bushing was replaced with electrical tape, I pulled it off not knowing it was there for a reason and the door closed better and no longer required slamming
Thanks saul goodman
Another trick to avoid pulling the bolt out. > Cut PVC that fits the bolt (inside diameter as well as outside, probably 1/2" tube) in length needed. Take fine saw or grinder bit, remove about 1/8 " from one end to the other. Snap PVC over the bolt. If you still have scrap, use solder iron to melt piece into place making complete seal, add more if needed. Again, I have done this several times on old chevy, last usually for over a year.
Yours, however, is fine. Only needs adjusting to compensate for hinge wear
Fell out of my Ford taking a hard turn w/ my pit bull in passenger seat - dog hit me I fell out door (hinges and bushings bad. ) roll on 2 way street and stopped few feet before oncoming suv. As I was laid out on road watched the truck jump curb and hit a tree. Dog ran all the way home shaking. - all was alright but ya don’t wait on fixing those classic ford doors.

I used electrical tape on mine and just wrapped a couple layers on it and it has been working great so far but probably not a permanent solution
Fords supply a tip maker lots to work with🤣
Wrap it with duct tape! It works just the same, add more to make it more snug, cut out with a security knife every 6 months and replace

You can also adjust it back more until you get a bushing
@TheMinuteMasters

Biggest issue is the cab bushings. A-pillar sag will cause the door to not close properly, then the hinge bushings, then the striker bushing.

sad thing is the next gen (97-0whatever) had similar issues, but the doors would tell all, by cracking and ripping at the corner of the window. I still would drive a Ford over any others.
that bolt with the bushing - Is the adjustment for the door - loosen the t 50 bolt and move it and retighten it (generally inwards) Fixed without bushing
The door striker and latch both wear together. Change them both.
or the striker is out of adjustment, that year of ford had adjustable door hinges and strikers

Correct
My dad used to use rubber hose on his 79 Ford F-150
Same on Panther Platforms.
You are remembering the tips on how to fix a Ford I don't think the numbers go high enough Chevy power
Handy to know
It’s not lining up due to worn out pin bushings in one or both of the connecting hinges, not the latch pin. Extremely common issue with OBS F-150s. I’ve got a ‘96, myself!
@TheMinuteMasters
Жыл бұрын
That’s correct! I replaced both pins and this bushing. Nice! Good year!

just a nosy neighbor stopping by to let ya know that saying "t-50, torx..." is over redundant. the 'T' in the T-50 tells you it's a torx bit.

Hahaha! This is true! It’s like saying chain mail when “mail” means chain.
Be careful before you pull that bolt out, try to apply some adhesive to the recieving nut. If weld is broken inside, nut can drop. Major headache to recover and replace it inside pillar. Speaking from expierience.

Dudes be like, “ I traded in my truck because doors were falling off.”
Sometimes the pen is shifted away from the clasp and it's not that the bushing is bad
What about pins bushings and possible before hinges
Can they get the heated rear bumper for the older model Fords too?
Electeical tape works too.
