I fixed the doors on my 1995 F150 for $4

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This week I fix the loose closing doors on my 1995 F150 for $4... An inexpensive, and easy fix.
I also use an ozone generator for the first time, and am amazed by the results.

I have a 95 as well and found through experimentation that you don't even need to purchase a bushing. Buy yourself a small piece of 1/2" pex tubing, cut it to length, and presto, just like new! I'm pretty sure it was 1/2", but not hard to figure out if I'm mistaken. I don't want to mislead anyone. I did mine a couple of years ago and it's holding up great!

Great video. I have been planning on doing the same repair, but I didn't know that the bushings could be bought without getting the entire striker kit. That will cut some cost for me. Also, as far as dealing with the odors, it is a good idea to clean the heating and cooling ducts. There is some great videos on KZread showing how to do it. I used Lubegard Kool-It, Frost King air conditioner foaming cleaner, and Lysol. Sweet Project Cars has a useful video for this project. Btw, be careful not to put to much of the foam in the vent above the fuse box. It turns back to liquid and drains down through the duct work. It is possible for it to leak onto the fuses. Figured this out on my 1994 F150. Luckily I didn't get enough on it to cause any damage.

Nice truck, love the color. I’m pulling my hair out trying to get my drivers door back on and adjusted. Do yourself a favor though, take out that seat and then pull out that carpet. Flood the seat with a water hose and flip it over and repeat until the water that runs out is clear. Hang the carpet on a porch rail or clothes line and wash it out the same way. It’s super easy since it’s a Ford pickup, the seat and carpet can be removed in a snap. You will be so glad , everytime you set down in your truck it will just smell clean. It is so worth the effort and a decent fan will dry the seat in a little more than half a day. The ozone thing only can remove what gets into the air, it can’t ever do anything to remove what’s causing the odor, it’s on your seat or carpet or possibly both. I’ve washed many Ford pickup seats and carpets this way, it’s never caused any damage or issue. I have a seat from an f-250 in my 93 F-150 and it’s has the lumbar airbag system inside it, it still works perfectly after washing. There is no downside I know of to throughly cleaning seats and carpet in that pickup. Unless of course you are happy with the ozone freshening, then disregard all that and carry on, lol. Main reason I commented was to compliment you on your pickup, from what I could see , it looks really sharp!

That's some great tips, thank you... Luckily, the scent is all but gone. I considered replacing the carpet, for a fresh look. A bright new carpet can go a long way in sprucing up an interior.

I used a piece of 1/2 pex pipe from big box store. Chuck up a 1/2 inch drill bit and run it through the pex pipe. Perfect fit. Also theres no need for those torx bit tools , just put some channel locks on the end and break it loose. 👍

@@RobsGarageKC Hi, I didnt have any torx bits but to be fair my truck is just a work truck so Im not too picky... I guess you could put something like cardboard etc on the round head where the pliers grip but mine came off with ease and I cant see any scratches...

Right on, that makes sense. Yeah, if I didn't have any torx on hand, I probably would have pulled out some vice grips. Good call on the cardboard. I have a ton of torx from over the years. The 1978 CJ-7 came factory with torx bolts, so by default I now have a few sets.

I had many 1992 thru 1994 f-series configurations. I even had a bronco. The only engine I never had was a 302v8. I replaced those bushings hundreds of times. The best replacement was a piece of 5/8" teflon hose. the 2nd biggest rattle on those trucks was the drift pins in the front brakes. It took me years to identify that rattle.

@@RobsGarageKC about a year. I'm older and smarter now, so i'd get more scientific and get a teflon hose that has an inside diameter that is exactly with the outside diameter of that bolt is. But if you had a 2 ft length of that hose, you can just keep it under your seat, and trim off a new 3/4" long pc everytime you need one.
