On behalf of the team, thanks for the kind words. Oh and re: punching spiders, normally that'd be impossible, but there's a chance to exploit a bad blockmap check and get deep enough into their hitbox to let you freeze and punch them. Even then, you can't aim at the center, but kind of diagonally away from it. And they might still shred you in retaliation, so it's best to freeze them before they wake up. All of this is actually laid out on a silver platter in plutonia 2 map27, where you can sneak upon a lone mastermind. There's a downside though: no berserk, so it's a long, long exercise.

So I am confused because I just attempted this in Doom Builder 2 by making a big room, dropping in a mastermind, a berserk pack, and the player start; hitting the test button, turning on god mode aaaand I killed her in 25 punches, with 0 misses. Tried it twice even to check the angles and had no trouble... I use GZDoom (whatever the latest version is). Did this get patched at some point??

@@hunterhobday6363 GZDoom changes the underlying physics slightly, in particular it both extends the fist's reach slightly and extends the spider's hitbox to cover its entire radius.

@@dewsey Ahhhh okay, I was not aware of that. While I have been playing Doom since the early 2000s I have only just recently (say in the last 4 months) started using GZDoom Doom Builder and ZDL so I'm not privy to some of the nitty gritty stuff

Really my best compliments for the maps, the ambient and especially the music: I find the ambient and textures really Doom 3-ish, the first doom game I have played and it brings back so many nostalgic memories to me, again well done :-) I almost shed a tear at the hub level remembering about the Monorail on Mars :')

It's nice to see the Spider Mastermind get some spotlight for a change. Normally when boss spam happens in a Doom level, it's the Cyberdemon that gets used

The music in that intermission stage is absolutely perfect. Doom Guy does a monologue while sat on an empty train... "When I joined the UAC, I didn't know any of this shit was gonna happen... but if you think I'm gonna stop now, you're dead wrong. There's just me and hell to pay!". *Cuts to black,* *next stage starts.*
The hub-level's music makes me realise that decino and doom would make an excelllent ASMR combo.
BTSX turned out so good that I almost don't miss Eviternity anymore. That track in the end is pure gold, I agree.
When he said "shoot her" it reminded me of the first Jurassic park movie at the start of the movie and the guy yells "shoot her" trying to tranqulize the velocirapter

I like how, since all the map names come from one band's song titles, a map like this is more serendipitous. It's like, "well, they have a song called Metal Mothers, now we _have_ to make a mastermind map!" There's two more like that in episode 2.

There are 7 Tier Fs in this level on regular ultra-violence, with co-op adding an extra 2, along with 11 other monsters. Fun fact, the archviles are all co-op exclusive! Question: Is this your first playthrough of this wad, like your Eviternity playthrough?

Not entirely. Chapter/cluster 2 will be completely new to me.
It almost came true, and there was some good effort in punching those Spiders out. One of the most entertaining levels of this wad so far.
the damage was so strong that turned decino into a italian plumber great job decino, nice run.
Extremely in agreement with that timely volume gain~
Love these maps where you have low HP a good chunk of the time. It keeps things interesting and on the edge of your seat.

I just want a 2+ hour loop of that soft atmospheric music of the hub map. I could fall asleep to it.
Thus begins Decino's epic quest to punch a spider mastermind in the face, until it dies from it. Hell shall know a new terror, and instead of "rip and tear," his battle cry shall be "GREETINGS, EVERYONE."
Atmospheric decino Doom ASMR ... I didn't know I need this until I got it ...
this is great. i love this channel. you just pistol start the hardest levels you can find on the highest difficulty that monsters don't respawn on.

Also if his name sounds familiar, it's because he also did the midi soundtrack for John Romero's SIGIL as well. *Esselfortium* we don't see too much of recently but they do have a nice vaporwave collection uploaded. Esselfortium is active on bandcamp and twitter under the same name.
Excellent video as always and I also learned that it’s technically possible for an Arch-ville to gib a Zombieman with the splash damage from its explosion. Now that would be a sight to see.

I think Back to Saturn X and Team TNT's Eternal Doom are the prime examples and maybe the maximum in vanilla compatibility. So great. The atmosphere in map 8 is really intense. Thanks for sharing decino. 👍👊🤘❤

If you listen really carefully (headphones recommended) at 19:43 you can hear a very faint train horn over on the left side. There's like 6 of these and they're easier to hear in essel's upload of the MIDI (kzread.info/dash/bejne/enuClMV_ktfMYtI.html). The attention to detail is really quite something and I'm glad you gave the hub maps some time in the spotlight instead of just going straight to the next map :) Great videos as always.

You can also hear, what I assume, the sound of train tracks. It's the low-pitched gunshot (I think?) SFX that speeds up and then slows down throughout the song. Very special song, hence why I gave it some extra attention.

The train tracks are the helicopter instrument :) I love how some of the weirder MIDI instruments can still be applied in some way or another.

The maps on this mod are so memorable. As soon as you were on top of that first platform at the start I was like "Oooh it's that bitch..." xDDDDD I like what they did to the spider mastermind on the Avactor wad, they give her an extra chaingun and faster reaction rate, so she is really threatening like a real boss, without having to tweak its HP at all, clever stuff

I came here specifically for level 8 even though theres lots about level 7 that i was missing (secrets, enemies etc) Lvl 8 is absolutely divine. Art always trumps everything else for me. I wonder if Sarah Mancuso did the music? Absolutely divine.

Oh I loved the map and awesome to see the Spider Mastermind getting some love and being used. If only she got used more often. Well I understand map designer's not using her that often, she does have a fat ass lol so she doesn't always fit in well. Nice gimmick the train station to the next level, really nice touch, as well as the music. Nice use of the organ, really sets the atmosphere. Yeah don't know if it's possible to punch out a Spider Demon, her legs get in the way. Anyway maybe next time.
No mothers were fisted in the making of this episode. . . except that one 11:04 I'm sure there are other ways to word that sentence, but that's what were going with. Btw, no joke, went into a state of zen at the end.

Doom Guy is amazing. He can kill hundreds of savage monsters but can't climb over a wall that is only 1/2 a meter tall. Thanks Doom physics.
I want to make a map called "The Giant Enemy Spider" which is just a large arena with a "super Mastermind" boss like at the end of Going Down, but ten times bigger. Also a MIDI rendition of that song Jerma was beatboxing
Tag 666 is generally for monster death avoken events. Doomwiki says its behaviour hard-coded in p_enemy. It's triggered either in A_BossDeath (level 7 mancubi are here too) or A_KeenDie on any level. A_KeenDie can be dehacked and use any other enemy. A_BossDeath is for the last enemy of a certain type on a certain map. Since BTSX is fully vanilla competible, it is not likely to meet any dehacked behaviour here. If I recall correctly, vanilla engine doesn't support DEH lumps, and require special software for modifying of the executable

How does partial invisibility affect homing revenant missiles, if at all? Seems like the blur sphere could make an interesting (if short) explanation video. Does it affect melee attacks? Does it affect initial visibility? Pathfinding? There's more to its potential than I thought.

I wonder why they changed the name of this level for the new gen console add on version? Im sad to say my reflexes are dulling in my old age. I cant play these harder levels on UV anymore :( i have to play on Hurt me Plenty like a lil kid. Still fun if i play levels ive never played before.

The names of all the maps in the wad were changed. As someone currently going through this wad on console on UV+ (which is coop monsters + fast monsters on console), this level was a pain in the rear.
Anyone out there with experience modding for gzDoom? Help needed :) I'm working on optimizing Hocus Pocus Doom to run on older machines (like mine from 2008) I'm mostly removing decorative 3D objects from the maps, no changes impacting gameplay whatsoever. I just need help with Slade, if anyone out there has experience making Doom mods or making custom 3D objects for it, please help out in the thread, or answer here if you find easier :) The main issue I need help for now is this: I'm not familiar with Slade, so I'm mostly selecting objects one by one by hand, which takes so much time. Is anyone out there aware of a way to select all objects ("things") at once using Slade? Or any other editor. Today I've discovered a scam in a shop. I was really hungry, so as a last resort I've bought a bag of chips. But while I was picking one, I've noticed some weren't even half full! Some of them, which were some brand new spicy chips, were exactly that. Less than half full. It felt like an absolute scam, so I picked a bag that was actually half full. It's shocking how you can get scammed on food products. Oh yeah, another example of that are packaged fish fillets, where they shove a lot of onion under the label, so that the customer only sees the fish, but the majority of the packaging is still nasty onion. I want to eat some fish damnit!

That's so crazy! I was just taking the dog for a walk when I saw someone I used to go to school with. Trouble is, I'm now on a completely different continent! What are the chances? Anyway, we caught up for coffee and talked for a while. Turns out they're a software engineer for one of the big oil companies. He's working mostly FiFo, but gets to see his family all the time. The company even pays for his family trips! So much better than my employer! Crazy small world hey!
