I'm 56 years old and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Without a doubt the best day of my life. All the bands were amazing with the exception of Van Halen. I remember a drum solo, bass solo, guitar solo and I think there was even a keyboard solo which to be honest bored me as a young 16 year old. AC/DC were jaw dropping and still my favourite band to this day( got my tickets for croke park this August). I remember it being probably the hottest day of the year. People ask me all the time about Donington 1984. Its gone down as one of the greatest days in rock history and for good reason. It was awesome, a day I'll never forget.

I was there on the day as a young 21 year old. the t-shirt on the right is the back of the unofficial shirt of the day [ still have the original] Glad to hear it was the best monsters of rock because it remains the best I,ve seen.Saw Motley Crue at a theatre in Tottenham court rd . 5 pounds , not really a fan but the sound was amazing . Court a train to Donington {Derby } hitchhiked back to london . What a memory

Yeah this is great memories for me! What a great day that was, will always have some amazing memories. I remember the surge forwards when Ozzy came on, had to go with it, lol Edit: forgot to say I came up on the coach from Penzance in Cornwall

Great show and so many memories. My first Monsters of Rock. Travelled up from Cardiff with City Centre Ticketline, ticket and coach about £20 I think 😂 (miss those days) Missed the Crue, didn't they come on early? Gary Moores red jump suit and the ever lasting note he played during Parisien Walkways. Ozzy was well, Ozzy, perfect for a festival. Van Halen much hyped, Diamond Dave on form, but drum, bass, and guitar solos in a shortened set was ridiculous. The mighty AC/DC closing in style. Bless my naivety back then.... to my mate. "Why are they throwing their plastic bottles of beer away? What a waste" 😳 😄

My first festival - 16 years old. Travelled up from Winchester on a coach with a group of mates. Loved every minute of it - Crue were crap but they made us laugh so that was alright. The rest of the days’ music was everything a 16 year old metal fan could have wanted! Seeing Ozzy for the first time was brilliant. Van Halen were utterly captivating - it was the only time I saw them with DLR so a great memory of them in really good form. DC played a blinder - awesome from the start to the end. Post-show I remember not being able to find the coach and almost didn’t get to it in time! Still get to as many gigs as I can but there’s never been anything like this day again!

Wow! First concert I ever went to. I was 14 at the time and went with my older brother and his girfriend. I remember it being a really warm day, loads of bottles of p*** being thrown from left to right! My favourites from that day were Accept, Crue, Ozzy and Van Halen.

Thanks for your invite to take part guys on this one, guess I'm camera shy. I actually walk past Andy Kershaw a couple of mins into that Old Grey Whistle Test special. Another snippet of info was that Wrathchild UK were due to be the opening act that day. My first concert and best imo. Great watch again guys.

Jammo recollecting that he had to get someone to go with, he wasn't allowed to go on his own made me chuckle because my mum was the same with me when I was sixteen and wanted to go and see Marillion at Hammersmith. I had to ask my best friends sister if she'd like to go to a gig and she agreed. Thanks Michelle!

Left Devon on the Friday night around 11 or 12 by coach Bought tickets from Soundz records in Torquay it was my 21st birthday that Saturday and I was getting married in September We got there before any bands had started I remember “ dark side of the moon” on the big speaker stack didn’t like Motley crue, liked Accept Don’t remember Y&T much Gary Moore was someone I really wanted to see , I wasn’t disappointed he was excellent Ozzy was alright, not my thing mind it was a hot day so I was feeling faint and wobbly then ,,, I was looking forward to see Van Halen too but didn’t think it was great , my mates turn to feel wobbly I felling better Then AC/DC my favourite band ,, my first time seeing them and !!! Well!,,,!!! It seems a blur I might have been too far away ,,, dunno ,, I’ve seen them about 5 or 6 times now It was a long day ,, brilliant I didn’t know what to expect But at least I can say I went to the Best Ever Donington
