My husband said to me this morning cheer up you look so sad. In my head all I was thinking is I can't do this anymore. I have been taking care of my 96 year old mother for the past 18 years in my home. I am longing for the day that my responsibility is done. I hopped on the treadmill this morning and turned my friend Mel on. I suddenly realized I was having a quiter's day. I broke down and had a good cry. I was so thankful that you cheered me on. Keep cheering people on we need you!! Thank you

Glad you put this on today Mel.... I'm 22 days in to no drinking. Not because I just wanted to do a dry January, but rather because I was in a nearly fatal car accident on Dec 27th. I was T-boned by a semi truck on the interstate after my little truck hydroplaned getting on to the highway. I suffered a brain hemorrhage, major artery tear, and fractures in 3 places including my hip and lower spine. My body needs all the good inputs to heal to the best of its ability. Therefore alcohol is not in any way conducive to healing. Even though consciously I know this, my brain occasionally sends the impulse to find a drink. It even tries to lie to me and say "well you could just have a couple though, it'll be alright". I am determined to put my brain in check and keep going, despite the pain and the fatigue and anger..... because I know I got this, and my body is going to thank me in the long run ❤ I am so grateful to have survived. I have so much work to do. I recently published my first book for newly diagnosed diabetes patients and I haven't done any marketing. I am in the middle of writing a second book all about food. I haven't done any work in 22 days. It's time to get grinding again to make this happen!!!!!!! Thanks again Mel, I am ready for *all that BASS* 😀❤️🙏

Mel this video, like a superhero, swooped in just in time to vanquish those little voices talking in my head. Been eliminating sugar and carbs and I know for a fact it works to lose the weight because I've lost 20lb doing it. I ate like 5 cookies last night. It wasn't my favorite cookies but GOD THEY WERE GOOD and I was like "why do I wanna deprive myself from life's joys?" And my why is I notice I try to avoid the mirror. I hate almost every photo of myself. I feel like crap when I eat like crap. So I'm going to keep going and give myself grace.

You remind me of something my mother told me when she was teaching me to drive a car. Someone was tailgating me and I expressed my fear. She said, “don’t worry about what is behind you, focus on what is in front of you “ . Fantastic advice, and I was able to apply to my entire life. Thank you for your guidance and motivation.

I was listening to this podcast last night as I was getting a hard one hour upper body strength workout done at home. I wanted to get it done earlier in the day, but schedule didn’t work. It was 9pm and I thought about postponing until Saturday. But I follow a plan, which helps me to focus on my workouts. My lift was hard, but your words helped me focus on why my training matters. When I finished my lift, I even did the dishes and prepared for this morning. I already walked my dog and had breakfast and am heading out for my Thursday morning lap swim. I never count on motivation. I’ve been working out consistently for almost 13 years. I started when I was 50. Planning, scheduling, remembering my old unhealthy self and focusing on why this matters have kept me going. I’ve listened to all of your books and podcasts since episode 1. You truly make a positive impact on me!!! Thank you for helping me get through a tough lift last night and for helping me navigate many of life’s challenges!!!! Have an amazing day!!!!!

This morning I am 60 hours into a water fast to improve health issues I've had for 15 years. Its not easy, especially in the evening when you are looking forward to dinner, relaxing, and enjoying that time after a long day. But, I've stuck wirh it. I have stayed busy day one and two by doing all sorts of chores around the house and then going on a 3 mile walk in the afternoon with my husband at the park. I'm now on day three of this challenge to clean up my body on the inside and benefit from all the good that I will receive from fasting tbis extended period of time. The longest I have fasted in the past was 40 hours on two separate occasions in the last two years. I also regularly do daily fast within each 24 hour period which has lead me to losing almost 100 pounds and plan on reaching a goal weight later this year by losing another 30 - 40 pounds. That will put me at the weight I was when I was 15 years old. That year I weighed around 115 - 120 pounds and wore a size 9. I'm currently wearing a size 16, which is the size I was when I was a senior in high school and knew then I needed to lose weight. Times have changed. Things are so different. It's harder to avoid toxic foods unless you're paying close attention each and every day. But, I've been doing just that for two years now and it is much easier and new good habits are just a normal way of life for me. Good health. That is my "why". It keeps me motivated through life's daily challenges and keeps me on track, looking forward to accomplishing my ultimate final goals and maintaining them forever. I hope my story helps someone else stick with whatever they are working hard to accomplish to make improvements to their life. It feels good to achieve the goal. You are in control. No one else can decide for you.

I have been teaching this philosphy for 25 years. It all comes down to picking your ass up when you don't want to do the thing one more day. It is hard, but everyone I work with has been able to do it once they realize that they are not perfect and shouldn't try to be. And yes, always remember your why. For my students/patients it is kidney stones but it can be applied to any damn thing. We are all just trying to human the best we can. Thanks Mel and team!

I thought about quitting my job. But I changed my mind and talked to my boss about the additional responsibility and workload that I have. I asked for a raise. The reaction I got was absolutely surprising to me: he said that I became the most important employee of my departmant and that he is thrilled about my work. I got the raise. I still can't believe this actually happened to me.

Today is my 19th day on mindset reset, it's true, yesterday I felt really demotivated, questions started to appear in my head and some limiting beliefs came back, but I found your video, counted 54321, and here I'm, I won't be back to my old self, I'm tired of feeling bad and depressed, thank you, Mel, 19 days exactly I found a video of yours and you can't imagine what you've done for me, you are changing my life, I won't give up!!

Okay, so oh my gosh! Yesterday January 19th, in the mindset previous to that, "Let Them"...boom! Something happened and I bottomed out. You're a voice of loud, encouraging reason. I appreciate you ❤❤

Hi Mel I was just was introduced to your work three days ago and I’ve used your 54321 method to get out of bed since I also started a plant-based lifestyle in the last two days so I love that you’ve shared this today and I think you’re doing an amazing job. Thank you.

Love the suggestion to watch a marathon! We love to go watch the Boston Marathon at Mile 19, which is right before a steep hill known as “Heartbreak Hill.” Interesting that Quitter’s Day is on Day 19!
