It’s a blessing to hear this and makes me happy knowing that I helped someone!

Gotta be careful because when this happens, it can oblong the bore for the injector. When this happens, it'll keep blowing the teflon seal off the injector and the only way to fix it is to either have an insert machined and installed in that cylinder head *OR* replace the cylinder head.

Dude ur a fucken life saver I swear I just had this sound start about 2 days ago and everyone was saying rod this piston that and after watching ur video it made me think I just changed the #4 fuel injector and to my suprise I checked it and it was lose tightened it down and no more knock thank god!!! The bolts for the injector hold downs need to be torqued too spec. Seen a few where the hold downs came loose and damaged the cylinder heads

Link to fuel injector replacement? I was having fun and then I got some knocking in the same area. For 550i 2013 please I saw in one of your videos for 550i.

Hello saw your report , my 325i 06 has that sound but also loss off oil pressure and it's going crazy on the dash bored.the sound comes from on top middle part .but once it starts it makes that noise and as it travels it alsoajes it louder afraid to Excell because it:s loud. Did any check engine or dash lights go on??

When I had this issue my vehicle had probably 62k miles. It started out as an issue with my valve cover that was causing it to lose oil. I think the air vacuum created by this gap on the valve cover contributes to this issue, because mine actually does it worse than that. But always check your valve cover gaskets, it can save you a lot of money

I have a bmw f10 m5 comp. and this sound sounds familiar to what I am going through right now but a warning saying differential locked and going into limp mode made me pull over on the side of the freeway .and turn the car off. I did a diagnostic to the sensor valve, transmission, and engine and the only thing that popped up was lean air fuel mixture for the engine. But my car wouldn't start back up. Had to call a tow truck .I normally use shell but was in need and got $20 in gas at Arco 91 octane. Where should I start ✌️👍

Hi, I have a 2009 335 xi n54 engine. When I am at high rpm, there is a slight knocking sound. It also dies it when I lift foot off gas. One guy said rod bearings. Car has 220kkms which is roughly 130kmiles.

Probably injectors, they're pretty loud

I have a n55 135i that was making roughly that same noise -- but only when revving the engine or giving it gas. Thought it was an exhaust leak, and then the dreaded rod knock -- but after seeing this I decided to disconnect injector #1 (which had also had some misfire codes) and voila, no more knocking. I isolated it to injector #1 by disconnecting #2, and reconnecting #1 --the sound came back. What was the ultimate fix though? was the head warped from all that banging around, or did it just need a new teflon seal and/or reseating/snugging down? Again, thanks for posting your video, you saved me many sleepless nights filled with nightmares of dead engines (rod knock) and existential dread.

I ended up replacing the injector because I have lots of spare injectors and added a new injector seal kit, still driving till this day no problems. I think a seal kit would be okay as long as you clean the area and use the bmw injector special tool to install the seal( 20-40bucks on Amazon and fast shipping). Wishing you luck with your repair!

Wow great video. I have the same sound. When I touch the injector the sound it disappears. I can hear the sound when I drive and break with the engine as well. the bmw team told me about this injector vibration, but the only possibility to fix this is changing the turbine. That’s what they told. I think it’s stupid. I have bmw series 1 2016 1.5l

My advice is Start with the bad injector first. The car in this video ran perfectly from the time i made this video until it got in a big accident a week ago and got totaled!

I have a same issue. Idle no knocking but press gas pedal you here the noise sounds like a wastegate rattle.. Code is cylinder #2 combustion erase it then after hard accelaration misfire again need some advice Thank you and Godbless

@@cali_cal Yes, is a fuel injector o-ring cylinder 2. $3 fix the issue.

I have an e46 (325i m54 motor) and I’m experiencing a little bit of ticking noise. Through the forums and some homework asking around, there’s multiple things that can happen. I’ve been seeing loose spark plugs, rocker arms, new lifters, and new pistons. I’m currently not in the price range for those “big” projects. Now since the ticking, I’m now experiencing a slight knocking noise around the passenger side wheel well. I have no idea what this might be but if you have any information about it, it would be greatly appreciated. I know the m54 is a strong and fairly reliable engine so this will hurt if I have to part ways with it.

Does the sound change when you press on the gas pedal if so how does it change( Example: Noise gets louder on higher RPM). Do you happen to know where is the sound coming from? Engine, Transmission, cv axle, suspension, etc.

I have a bmw that has a knocking sound WAY louder than that. Before I went into that situation I Got a new battery, transmission fluid and oil change. I went to a car shop twice and they said they didn’t hear it anymore. After I got it “fixed” it started again. Wth do I do??

Since it’s getting warmer I have my windows down and didn’t realize how loud it was on my side, it’s so embarrassing but I already put in almost 1,000 for everything I listed

Find out what codes you have, it’s most likely misfire. If it’s misfire on a couple cylinders( example: cylinder1 and cylinder 4) you need to check the coils first, then spark plugs, and then injectors for those cylinders. If it’s misfire on all cylinders, you either have a vaccum leak, leaking valve cover, bad map sensor, bad ccv valve, fuel pump, fuel filter, or timing.

My bmw 328i just started making a popping noise from what sounds like the exhaust once I go above 20 , the faster I go the louder it gets. Started happening after I floored my car

Hey I have 2013 bmw 750i . it have been making a knock sound 2days few days ago i drove it around 7 minutes in it died . got it towed home . it would not start. Say charge battery which i hook up a battery charger/ jumper. It would not jump it so i took battery out last night charged it . the battery is charged not sure how good only 8hrs of charging. Still wont start. One i check for the sound the only one that sound like it was one that said alternator going bad . which i think and i want to make sense to me instead of other problems. The car wont start but most of my fucntion came back like the was able to stay on the sun can open and shut back now. But it wont start it makes a click sound with a 2 seconds pause then follow with another sound .

that forsure is one of the rod bearings welded to the crank. n63 are known for that issue. if you hear clicking that means starter is trying to go but because your engine is seized it cant turn

What David Smith said is correct! it’s most likely that the engine is seized since you hear a click but the battery is good and also it died after the engine was running for 7 min like you said.

Hey Leo, thanks for the video, I’m getting this sound on my f10 n52 engine. Is this usually followed by a lack of performance in the car? Mine is intermittent but when the sound comes, performance suffers - the engine feels very airy and empty. Also the sound is most prominent at idle. Will rod bearings make sound throughout the rev range?

My car engine knocking what can it be

I NEED HELP !!! I just paid for a 2009 BMW X5 48i yesterday and I drove it 174 miles ( I got it from another state ) but when I got home it started making a loud sound which came from under the hood ... now the next day which is today I called myself going to handle business and the car lights ( transmission in position n ) ( awd and dsc malfunction ) then the car started slowing down in traffic which ended up shutting down ... I got towed home but when the tow guy jumped the car It came back on fine but still had them messages on there ...I call the place I paid for it from they told me it’s the battery “ which made the car shut down & throw Messages on the dash door “ so they told me to come get a new battery... I’ll be putting that in tomorrow ... but I’m concerned about the ticking sound that’s in this video

I have a 2013 750i xdrive twin turbo had a loud knocking sound I bought it like this but when I plug it in it said some thing about a jammed camshaft or something with the vanos ? What’s really weird is the sound is gonna gone now but it’s been there everytime I started the engine which was at least 30 times and it was always there that sound ! Now the car shuts off after I start it pls help

Mine is loud but not a hard knock sound on my 535i. Goes with RPM. Started out one min to the next. Cylinder 4 issue reported... I might get to it in a few months. Until then, I have my S class. And paying on a new mortgage with renovations, so it has to wait...
