I contact independent playlisters on the day of release. As many as possible ! Be a part of that community. This is what’s hit the algorithm for me recently. I’m still learning the ins and outs but it’s an on going process. Thanks for the very useful content 🎹🎶

I always use playlist pitching services (not pay-for-play) so that first week is as good as gone when it comes to getting enough popularity to get that 20% haha

@@IndieMusicAcademy It's interesting to see this metadata. If it's similar to SEO/Search (what I do for my profession) there's probably 100 other things too - social signals, how your profile, songs are named, the number of brand entries, impressions, etc. Do you know of a list like this?

Hey, great video! I have a song, that has organically got 8k streams and 24 popularity score, no ads. However it didn't end up in any algorithmic playlist, not even radio. It's a bit confusing. It's on 230 playlists and has 600 saves. Good numbers for an organic track but any idea how I can get a lot of radio streams? The artist is newish and only has 43 followers.

Hey Lisa! In addition to playlists you could also benefit from sending new fans directly to your song using ads. There is a specific way you need to set it up (not a boosted post). Shoot me an email at hello@indiemusicacademy.com and I’ll send you more info.

I have a question. If you're registered with a PRO like BMI, and you're also with SongTrust what'll happen: 1. With Songtrust, In BMI when making a new work what do you put when they ask "are there any publishers in this work?"? Do you put Yes since songtrust is a publishing company? Or do you put no? 2. Second, if you have songtrust. Do you really need to register a work with BMI? Doesnt Songtrust do it and collects the money from it? Or is it that even if Songtrust does that automatically for you, you still need to register it? And if you register, as i asked above, what do you put? Yes or No? I watched your video 3 years ago when you explained how to register your music. From a distribution company to a PRO to soundexchange to songtrust etc.. Where you said you must have both a PRO like BMI and still be with Songtrust. Even though Songtrust does that.

Once you have SongTrust, they will link your existing BMI account and you will only register on SongTrust for future registrations. (SongTrust passes it onto your BMI account and registers on your behalf).

Good video, but popularity is not all that counts, you touched upon skip rate, but also save rate has a huge sway on the algorithm.
