    Find out who the parent company is. Songtrust and CDBaby are owned by Downtown music. Sesac and Harry Fox are with Blackwater (or some other evil sounding name). Every time one of these big companies buy a CDBaby, theY kill of the human support first (I've been with CDBaby for 21 years and saw the change to them AND Songtrust [IN REAL TIME, and Songtrust is NOT Trustworthy, btw) and you'll never get an answer to a complex problem. I wrote CDBaby in February of 2024 to say one of my releases was missing - they wrote me back yesterday (June 7 2024) to say HOW SORRY THEY WERE BUT IT'S BEEN SO LONG THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT MY QUESTION WAS!!!!!!!!!!) If you don't laugh at this dismissive, disingenuous behavior you'll just quit. I'm luck - Im 71 and have 575 songs on Spotify, so I get my $24 bucks a month afater throusands of payments of less than a thousandth of a penny. Want some advice from me? Don't quit your day job, just go in debt to some college than has a billion dollars in the bank and get a good career in IT - even Derek Sievers doesn't know the shenanigans his Baby is up to. Don't waste your life on this BS. I did. But it's too late to stop now.

    I would in the strongest terms - suggest that folks Read and not ignore the TERMS OF SERVICE in the contract you are thinking of signing for ex. with CD bb tune core or symphonic , etc it wont hurt you to read it and could save you incredible hassles even if you think you copyrighted your music because things have changed in the last few years. instead sit down and read it 3 x and think about the implications.check each by doing searches. Then have a music attorney explain what it actually means to you and your music. - Read or weep because of changes now for ex. as unreal unfair and unlikely as it sounds if you sign on with some of these, by agreeing to have them "distribute" your music, you have also just in some cases, signed over what is called " Irrevocable " free unlimited 360 use of your music to be rearranged, squeezed, altered etc, turned into new material, added to new projects, turned into an add , a soundtrack whatever is needed and sold edited and re recorded with you completely out of the loop.. basically every possible way you didnt understand on how to be ringing money out of it and so while musicians get their 0.03689 or whatever fraction of a cent for each stream meanwhile on the back end unknown to you a stream company could re arrange re record whatever remarket your music and you not only get zero payment but are not even being credited as composer nada- and 99% seem to not know this. thats a very steep price and sync fees much more profitble than 0. 0358 or whatever the going rate for a stream is, but in the worst of those schemes musicians arent even allowed to profit from sync money generated which is known to be 1000s to millions more than the tiny fractional stream percentage so tho it says you only pay this small fee in reality its more and they can profit from it in ways you can only do by owning your music and publishing. wow what a great scheme and who knows if irrevocable refers to something that can even continue after a contract is dissolved?. If you doubt this then read the terms of service and each part of for ex symphonic or cd bb and then you will understand. No wonder so many are now leaving the platforms for their own sites and hopeful success

    Yeah, make another video about LANDR Distribution. I have tons of plugins, but the Distribution Pro plan for $44.99 a year is what I think I will get. Go into the "terms and conditions" located in the "Legals" section at the bottom of the page. When an artist signs up with one of the distribution companies, they need to know what it says in the contract they're signing with the distribution company.

    Be careful. I’ve been using CDBaby for years, with great support. I purchased LANDR Studio and decided to try their distribution. Bad decision. They basically ruined my release. They parked my song in the wrong Spotify profile, which caused me to miss the seven day advance you want on Spotify releases. The worst part has been LANDR support. After one initial response with useless information it’s been crickets for about a week. And my release date is in two days. Makes it hard to promote a song when it’s in the wrong Spotify profile.

I also work with artists in my 12-month coaching program to build these campaigns out and iterate multiple versions as we optimize it! Would any of these opportunities interest you and I can send you more info? Shoot me an email at [email protected] and we can discuss exactly what you're looking for!

    Sorry to hear. I've found my experience with DK to be AWFUL especially with customer service. Good lord, I can't ever get anything resolved it seems. One of my songs was uploaded months ago to all other platforms but apple music, DK and I went back and forth for weeks and I kept getting new reps in the conversation, this WAS FRUSTRATING. Ultimately, nothing was resolved. On a side note, I want to move to another Distributor and want to pick one that has sync opportunities, any suggestions? MOREOVER, anyone have advice on how I can move my music over to the new distributor?

    😱 Landr..my devastating experience: 😆 got an entire archive with classic piano tracks + synthave tracks with over 300 songs. -choosed the pro plan - uploaded daily 5-8 tracks -after 2 weeks got the first message that my tracks won´t appear because the market for my musicstyle "is oversaturated" at the stores and that specific tracks are not allowed. -after asking whats the problem with my track, the answer was more direct...I uploaded too much in too short a time and the tracks are similar, which is quite common for classic-piano and synthwave tracks, furthermore this would be an indicator that I use samples By the way: The Pro-Plan says: Unlimited Uploads!! Now i ask myself how other Artists are getting legit, and smaller ones as I am are being just pushed beside with such "stpid" explanations... If this is the usual practice in the industry, then there won´t be any licensed electronic music like trance, techno, minimaltechno, vaporwave, dreamwave, ambient, synthwave and even classic-tracks, only becaus they all sound similar, they use similar beats, synth- or piano-sounds..

  • @IndieMusicAcademy
    @IndieMusicAcademy5 күн бұрын

    Oh wow, that's an incredible story. I'm sorry that happened. It definitely seems like you hit the limit for some kind of internal spam flag that they have. Were you able to continue uploading your music at a slower pace?

  • @instantdislikechannel5699
    @instantdislikechannel56995 күн бұрын

    @@IndieMusicAcademy In any case, I was patient during the days of uploading because I knew that I would be uploading a lot, and so after about 2 weeks the customer service contacted me and briefly explained to me the "oversaturated market" and that certain songs would not be accepted, but that Landr had no problem with my tracks. I wasn't offered a license without distribution, the KZread content ID would have been great, but apparently they don't want to offer anything at all... Well, the fact that the person from customer service wrote that all synthwave songs sound similar shows me that there is someone in customer service who has no idea about this style of music, for others, for example, Mozart sounds just as good as Brahms, and yet they are different compositions... In short, I am accused of having uploaded songs in a short space of time that were produced with samples... The email discussion is still ongoing and I am waiting for the next replies, because I have confronted these facts with their service-team. And yes, I can still upload how much and whatever I want...but I will wait for a solution, because this is completely inappropriate to me, since so many "artists" are coming up with their licensed tracks on every corner, and landr is making it hard for newbies to enter any market, this behaviour is surely not the goal of a music-distributor, which on the first sight does not limit anything! P.S. if you know a distributor specifically for EDM, please let us know, because Landr was obviously a big flop for me. Thank you

    I was with Distrokid for four years and it was all going well until i noticed that they had put charges onto my royalties. They said it was because i never cashed a cheque from years ago and said that it was fees for not cashing the cheque. But the fees were so high. They had charged me about $95. So i was back and forth with emails to them as you shouldn't be charged anything for not cashing a cheque. Then they started to change the story. So they ended up giving me a years free of distrokid. But then took the money from my bank anyway. So i was back emailing them. Then they kept sending me generic emails and i was getting nowhere with them. But as soon as i said i was going to take legal action against them. I noticed they put the money back into my bank account. But said they cant remove the scam fees from my royalties. So i had enough and decided to just take all my music off Distrokid as i never wanted them to make any money off me again. and ii cancelled Dostrokid. I felt like i was totally being scammed by them and the charge they put onto my royalties was totally wrong. And why did they wait four years to put it on. Not one email about the charges beforehand. I have heard they have done this to a lot of small artists. I even found a similar story on twitter. And they had done the same thing to someone else. So i have just been using Bandcamp for my music now. But i am still on the lookout for a new distributor.

Makes such a difference from my original DAW track. Haven't used the sample feature yet and not sure if that is really something I want as I have a go to company I am very satisfied with. Distribution and/or collaboration are not in my picture yet. Focusing on two of my YT music channels as I am still in learning phase.

    Sure thing! With the Landr sample library, you don't have to clear any of the samples. Your subscription to Landr is your license to use these samples in your tracks. For outside samples, you'll need to clear the sample directly with the controlling publisher before you distribute. This is the way for every distributor to my knowledge.
