How to distribute a new song to Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok...
Музыка
If you want your music on Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok, and more... you need to release your music using something called a distributor.
Here's the link to the new song I uploaded in this video in case you want to check it out ❤️
►► open.spotify.com/album/3JaqdT...
In this video, I will show you How to distribute a new song to Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok... and if you follow these steps, you'll be able to release your music on all platforms. Also, this video is not sponsored by AWAL or any other distributor, I use what works best for me, but all distributors will get you pretty much the same result.
Here's the next video you should watch after this: How to choose the BEST music distributor

Do I need to have already distributed music before submitting an application to AWAL or would a very small brand be sufficient? Also what is your opinion on AWAL vs. RouteNote?

Thanks so much, Ryan! Can you please share that how is AWAL going in terms of updating Tiktok stream stats and distribution processing time on Tiktok? I have been experiencing Tiktok missing stats and delayed distribution (Tiktok stats suddenly disappear since last December and unfixed until now, scheduled released almost a month ahead but still pending on Tiktok ) with my distributor... Wrote to the support but the response is sorry and please wait. I am wondering are these Tiktok problem across all distributors or?

Hi! I’m wondering the best option in 2024 between water falling or if that will hurt my chance of an editorial playlist (just got my first one on Apple Music so I think it’s within reach)

As always, you've supplied a super helpful video with step-by-step instructions. GREAT JOB, RYAN! I'll use this video as a reference for all of my new song distributor submissions. Thanks, Ryan!

Perfect distro
Thanks for this personable, detailed video! Dumb question from newbie: where do royalties go? Don’t you need to give them bank info? % royalty?
gods work!
Love your videos! Question I have a girl talking in the beginning of only one song total 10 songs on my album do I add her and what percentage would she get ?
Question: so it looks like you can enter primary artists and features. My keyboard player/producer is asking me to list him as an engineer. How would I do this? Very helpful video! I’m considering using AWAL too so this was great.
GODS WORK YOU DOING ARE YOUNG P-WAN
So I am releasing a ten song album. So do I release it one song at a time?
Tell me more about the "release date" and why you chose it. Also, how do listeners at Spotify, Apple and Amazon find your songs? Are there sections that show "New Releases" in these streamers? Thanks so much! Gianni
Ryan, as a flip side to this, do you have or can you address how to release a cover song to the streaming services. My understanding is now that the Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) exists, they have made a blanket mechanical license to allow for cover releases to said streaming services. It would be a good topic to discuss. The reason I ask is at the end of this video, you had to check that you own the rights as the writer for the song. Obviously, if you do a cover you would not have that.
For how long do Awal have to review my application am still waiting for an email
Does Awall put your music on TikTok and instagram reels.?
What about that record label part? Do you need to make your own record label to do this? If so, how difficult and expensive is that? Great info btw!

You don’t need to do anything formal to create your record label. If you would like to register your label name with your local county clerk, the paperwork is under $100 bucks in most locations in the USA. This would allow you to start taking payments under your label name.

@@IndieMusicAcademy Thank you so much for the video. Following the question on label, can I leave it blank if I don't have one? Or would you suggest registering our own label?
Thank you very much, Ryan, for your help on this matter. I have one question, I just got into Awal and I was wondering if I can also upload cover songs with them?
@IndieMusicAcademy

Yes you can! But you need to purchase a mechanical license from easysonglicensing.com first
how does Shazam works in this case?
Do I have to register the song with BMI too?

If you are the songwriter, then yes!
🙋 question, do you have to be a paying subscribed user of spotify or apple or what not to get your music on them and see your analytics and stuff?....

No, you don’t need to be a premium subscriber to Spotify to access Spotify for Artists!

@@IndieMusicAcademy ok thanks a lot! It's these weird questions that hick us up sometimes 😅
Can someone who is not in the USA or UK (e.g in Africa) register on BMI? Or ASCAP? or Songtrust or Song exchange?

No
If you're with a PRO like BMI, is there a place to enter an IPI number? How does that work with AWAL?
@IndieMusicAcademy
Жыл бұрын
The short answer is that they are unrelated. BMI deals with the songwriter and publisher, your distributor deals with the sound recording. There can be multiple sound recordings for one song, therefore BMI doesn’t really care about tracking each sound recording that’s distributed.

@@IndieMusicAcademy What if someone purchases your song on AWAL and then uses it on a TV show? I thought they are supposed to list the song on a cue sheet with the IPI number so BMI can pay you.
I would rather have a distributor take 15% of my revenue simply because in the stage we all at in our music career we are not making money at all, its best you try using free services while you grow your brand and influence

100% my mindset as well. Plus, just having one Patreon supporter will provide you WAY more income than thousands of streams... so in terms of leverage streams are at the bottom of my income priority.

I personally have the mindset that I need to create musical income streams on my own and let royalties be a "bonus" - but I definitely agree with you if you ONLY make money from streams.
What kind of service is it? 1 month has passed but till now there is no response to my application. Support team is ineffective. Very bad experience from Awal. Worst service ever.

If time is of the essence then I would suggest using another distributor. I’m not sponsored so I don’t to make it seem like I’m an “official spokesperson” but AWAL is exclusive by design but it’s by no means the best. I would check out Landr distribution or CD baby!
Its s fukin ad😂😂
