My family have and still own a Kia Sorento 2011, Kia Sportage 2013, Kia Optima 2017, Kia Forte 2019. Absolutely no problems or issues that were mentioned. Only normal maintenance and replacement of brakes, shocks etc. I’ve always looked at Toyota, but I found them cheaply made, not as solid, and compared driving ability, but always ended up with a Kia. Will go with a company like Kia who backs their cars with a 10 yr warranty than a company that only backs up their vehicles with only 5 yrs. That alone tells you something. Everything is exaggerated and a lot of misinformation is made over the internet. Please compare a Camry to an Optima.

I had a 99 Camry bought used with 75k miles. Drove it to around 250K doing basic oil changes and brakes, and it was finally killed by a young inattentive driver who ran into her side. Currently own an 06 Avalon, Bought it used with 132K on it. 5 years on, now with around 230k, still running strong. Maintenance performed since owning it: oil changes, brakes, coolant flush and new water pump. Those two vehicles were purchased as my daily drivers. In between them, after the Camry was totaled, I leased a 2014 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.0T. Drove it out of the lot, got home. Started it up the next morning, and heard a rod knock. Returned it to the dealer the next day, and to make a long story short, it got its engine replaced (Known problem with those engines at that time). I will NEVER buy another Hyundai/Kia/Genesis for as long as I live; same as VW/Audi/Porsche and Ford.

Kia always have electrical problems. Wiring with the brake lights and headlights. Best bet is a Toyota Camry.
93 octane solves the problem w/those 12,5 compression ratio direct injection issues. Try it, knock may go away. Also try a thicker Oil.. 0W20W is darned darned thin, I'd give 5w 20 or 30 a shot, and be sure the oil filter you use has a One Way valve that should get quicker oil pressure at startup. Ford had this issue with their early Modular DOHC 4.6 engines. Oil pressure chain tensioner issue.

NOPE. Toyota also considers a quart every 1000 miles normal oil consumption. Toyota has some engines that burn a crap ton of oil.
I bought a 2017 GDI sportage brand new regretted it in about 2 months. When I did my first oil change it was like draining gas out of my oil reservoir. It gradually lost power and I traded it in for a 4runner. Never Kia!

Were the sticker prices on the two cars similar ?

I think a lot of issues have to do with direct injection.. Use the high octane, get a couple MPG better, but enjoy the much improved smoothness and quietness. Regular gas is so close to detonation with these high compression GDI.. works superbly on my Kia Carnival 3.5 V6. Kia's BEST Drivetrain under the Hood. Dual Injection both GDI and Port on this one. The Big Block these days.. No Turbo Req'd..

My 2017 Sonata burns about a quart of oil every thousand miles. Toyota would never release an engine that bad or if they did they wouldn't keep selling it after knowing it was bad (or they would just fix it's design problems). Although that being said... My first Sonata (2003) lasted 325,000 miles on the original engine and transmission with minimal problems. There will never be a day that kia produces better quality and design cars than toyota, never going to happen. Theres a reason for the price difference too between kia and toyota which i dont need to explain.
Well I have a lxs Kia forte 2020 so far so good no complaints ..I had hondas corollas, bmws, and elantras.. Personal opinion my Forte runs very good for now.. Having a reliable car is questioned around all vehicles brands..from tranx problems to engine problems..we get lucky if we buy one of any brand that won't give us mechanical problems...making money pits😂😂 Hello anywhere from Puerto Rico blessings
I don't blame hardworking folks who dare NOT touch any Kia or Hyundai vehicle. With the massive bill they shouldered from the engine failure/engine fire fiasco plus other major safety recalls, guess who will foot the bill eventually?

Thanks. Wont see me in one of those wrecks
Unintended Acceleration is Toyota's biggest and most dangerous problem, it's worst problem in the automobile industry that is Never mentioned. WHY IS THAT?
Just bought a 2007 Rav4 with140K miles. Runs so smooth with lots of power. Wouldn't even consider a Kia. Who you trying to kid!

They just recalled like 500000 kias because they catch on fire

Toyota also did a recall two years ago for the same engine fire issue.
i had a friend owned a 2018 kia forte went thrugh 4 transmissions them sold it bought a camry and drives it to this day
I don't think the Kia Forte and the Toyota Camry were meant to compete against each other. The Forte is much more similar to the Corolla, and the Camry is more similar to the Kia Optima or K5.....
We have had 3 kias, a soul, sorento and now a forte gt. Have been great cars especially for the money. The forte gt has a ton of features and a dct 7 speed for 26k. I do change the oil every 5k miles or less per recs I've read. Also the 1.6 turbo has been a lot of fun to drive and hopefully will continue to be. Ive seen the 1.6 to be a more reliable engine? Will see i guess.... Gas mileage is fantastic and has a shocking amount of room for being a compact car. Appreciate the video. Will def keep an eye out.

their 1.6 turbo is well made, its the 2.0 and 2.4 GDI that is problematic
@KayAye-ol7vb

The 1.6 with no turbo is the least problematic, but they can still die, the only turbo cars with great reliability is Volvo, everyone else might be hit n miss. With that said Hondas make the best engine but they can be bad cars too, little annoying electronics issues on Hondas.

@@KayAye-ol7vbmazda turbos are super reliable. Plenty of cx9 turbos (2.5t skyactiv they us in everything) in the 300k mile range still going strong.
One just had to see all of the recalls, fires & engine failures in the US to see that they have a long way to go to pass Toyota..
Aren’t Kias and Hyundais going up in flames with the hitches? Also Kia corporate is supposedly a nightmare to deal with.

Do a review on the 2021 Kia K5 GT line
It has been a long time since I bought a Kia/Hyundai. However, I found in my experience that they just aren't manufactured to last beyond two years.

👍💯..Five to seven years is Max life span for a Kia...😮 Many start having major repairs after 2 years.

@@Okoro17 Really? I owned a Sedona until I finally got rid of it. My mom still owns a Sportage. Fortunately, she barely drives, being 80. I know Kia/Huyndai and the quality is crap.

@@KaiPonte And we bought a Spectra in 2009. That thing has over 200,000 miles and my brother drives it to this day. My sister got a Soul in 2018. It has between 60,000 to 70,000 miles and she hasn't had any problems with it in 5 years of ownership. So I really question your claim. Your mother has the Sportage, probably an old one. Clearly it has not broken down in 2 years.

@@Okoro17 i am happy your cars are not falling apart. My mom's Sportage has 84,000 miles. She just put a few thousand dollars into it for the transmission, which was falling apart. She did so because she doesn't want to spend $20 or more on a new vehicle, which will not be driven. I'm glad you have decent vehicles. I stand by my comments and will not purchase a Kia/Hyundai ever again.
I prefer cars that don't catch on fire.
