A lot of these "he's just being nice" sounds like the guy I recently dated. We dated for almost a month. He also hardly texted me first. The final straw was when just last week he canceled a date for no reason. I let him know I wasn't happy about but he just brushed it off. I decided to do the lean back approach to see if he would reschedule. Nope. Haven't heard from him since. I'd much rather he flat out told me he was not interested in dating me anymore instead of leading me on.

I wonder if a lot of guys assume doing a sudden disappearing act is somehow kinder than flat out getting it over with. Or perhaps they like to leave it so that they have spare cards to pull out later. The kinder, more generous thing to do is the right thing; which is being gently honest and direct. Heard some guys say they would rather a girl just fades them out. I believe we may be different in that way

Wanted to come and watch a race I was involved in, even set my computer up for me to be able to have multiple screens, volunteered to rescreen my door as well as other stuff but when race day came, he asked what I was doing that day :). Reminded him of my race. His comment, "forgot you have your race today!". That's it. No apology, offer of coming another day to fix stuff...don't think I'm being overly demanding but yeah...like the above comment, "the trash took itself out" :)))

He offered me a ride back home (which I said yes to) then asked me questions about what I like and laughed at my cheesy jokes. He remembered little things I totally forgot I told him about and I always catch him looking. And when I catch him he smiles so big. Then I mentioned that my apron was loose (we’re servers) he quickly offered to tie it for me and I told him that tight was good but did it lightly to not hurt me. I almost turned around, got down on one knee and proposed. I complimented his hair and he said thank you while blushing and always offers to help me out with tasks at work. He includes me in his decisions and goes with whatever I say. He’s so sweet and such a gentleman

@@Nokss87 eh I'm a human, I'm alright. I don't have a self-esteem problem. I'm good in my own company, but navigating life together with someone would be nice. It's a different experience/process for the brain/heart, whatever. It's hard to understand why no one likes me, maybe there's a reason, maybe there isn't, but it's not a riddle I can solve by myself, you know? If I have blindspots, then by definition I won't see what they are.

The signs Ive taken note of and not sure of are: 1) He talks to everyone very easily but hesitates when it comes to me. So I had to approach. 2) Direct eye contact. 3)Statue-like while sitting. He did all this at a time.

I have a coworker who once turned me down and stood me up for a coffee date. He is clearly not interested, yet always open up to me about his life, laughs at all my jokes, and holds interesting yet intelligent conversations with me. Either he is lying, or I'm the best therapist ever.

For me one thing that comes up to mind is when guys try painfully to impress you with any kinds of weird stuffs.

I remember on St. Patty’s Day my crush was being so nice and protective of me it was adorable 🥰 He’s a nice guy in general but the things he did made me question his intentions with me. He was being playful with me by cracking jokes, being touchy feely, curious about my long term career goals, he gave me his jacket and hat to keep warm (since it was a bit chilly at the bar), he told he wanted to finish a convo with me before heading off to talk with his other friends, he remembers small details about me, he asked me if there was anyone at the bar that I had my eye on, he was worried about how I was gonna get home and even wanted to contact my brother to make sure I got home safe, and a couple of his friends were telling him “you better go take care of your friend” to make sure I got to my cab safely.

He remembered my birthday and showed up at the rink (I'm a skater) when he knew I would be there. He HATES that rink! He lives pretty far from it too. None of my other friends who were there knew it was my birthday until I told them. Unfortunately.... even though we used to text a lot, he hasn't in weeks! I understand everyone situation are different and we all deserve a good quality guy, but sometimes it doesn't hurt just be friendly back and give a second chance. Mostly, you let things run it course. If it meant to be, then he will come around.

The escalating the interaction can be a bit too much for me. Like sometimes, a guy is trying to move too quickly and in my head, I'm like this is too intense. I think there's a nice middle ground where someone isn't trying to move things from 0 to 100 too quickly

If you’re not comfortable with the pace, then it is too intense. The more you set your own boundaries the more comfortable you’ll feel about it. You set the pace for You. Don’t let anyone, any person, trend, or social media platform tell you otherwise. Own it.

Yeah, I talked to a friend about this. She said oftentimes the woman has to set the pace. If he's texting too much, let him know you prefer to get to know each other in person... If he's asking to see you again quickly, schedule something on a timeline you're comfortable with... if he wants to spend all day with you, set clear expectations about how much time you have upfront.

You wouldn't believe the extents to which people will lie to themselves regarding their feelings... :D I've had this thing with a guy who constantly paid me compliments on everything and anything, enveloped me in a hug on a park bench to keep me warm, face glued to my neck, took me home, let me nap in his bed, fell asleep next to me, holding me, mock-fought me and kissed my neck and basically was the person I saw and texted with the most for almost half a year...we then went separate ways when he said there's external circumstances for which he can't be in a relationship with me. We had two more phases of intense interaction since, and every time we distanced ourselves on purpose because things were always on the brink of getting steamy, on top of us talking about a million vulnerable things. And he still tells me I'm a friend :) I did draw my boundary firmly recently and won't be seeing him anymore. This might work for other people, but I'm just not built to feel good watching other people who did, in a few extra vulnerable moments, admit to being attracted to me, only deny and actively suppress wonderful, deep feelings they have for me. I'm definitely not content with this when I like this human a lot and can well imagine a long-term partnership.

I realize when watching this that i get intimidated by the ”guy who likes you behaviour” and pull away. And prefer the ”just being nice” and is more likely to feel attracted if a guy don’t suffocate me with his constant precence and wanting me to give him attention, i like space especially in the begining when i not sure how i feel. Guess this is a default that leads me to fancy the guys who isn’t interested..

Mannn, number two was my primary technique during high school and I used it over and over again with my crush because I couldn't think of anything else. That was enlightening 😊 I met new people at a picnic on the weekend. The two guys were paying a lot of interest to one of the women, who tried to dominate the conversation. When we all went for a walk, I had the impression that one of the guys started psying me more attention, told me about his background etc. When we got back, he mirrored what I was doing etc. Am I imagining that he's interested in me?

well there is somethings that can make a guy be absent or unfocused sometimes like adhd and then they really can't help themselfs my boyfriend and i have been together since the beginning of june and he gets as happy as i get everytime we find something we have in common (and it's alot) and he was the first who took the step of introdusing me to his mother and almost his whole family and he just keeps showing commitment to me and helping me at home with shores and it's wonderful!!!

I met my coworker for the 1st time at a happy hour. He talked to me the whole night(even though there were 15 others at the HH). He asked me millions of questions about myself... We stayed after at my car when everyone left got an additional hour and he hugged me goodbye and he hasn't said one word to me since. Very entertaining and not depressing even if I saw a lot of signs that my crush is just being polite to me

Had a few of these in my last relationship but it was all false to win me over and manipulate me. The attention and mirroring were over the top towards being a bit odd. A guy I work with makes good conversation but he has a partner, he makes it like a mission to have a in-depth chat

So, I have a guy, who does majority of everything you said in part 1 and part 2 with me.... we we're working together this past summer which is how we connected. He compliments me on being the funniest person he's ever met, and months later out of the blue sat beside me and just said "I can't wait to see you win an Oscar one day and I'll be in the audience cheering you on and when we first chatted months prior he asked me about my passions and dreams and knew what they we're but found out through someone else and this was the same convo that allowed us to be vulnerable with each other and talk about our fears, ambitions which was so nice and one of his buddies also told me that he said, "I was his favourite new person in the job we were doing" after a week of meeting me and yet we never spoke (so I guess he was just watching me from afar.....). He's insanely sexual with me and has even initiated interlocking his hands with mine on a night out; kissed the back of my hand when we we're at the bar and then at a few parties; kissed me on the forehead and then kissed my friend on the forehead beside me. I'm a pretty sensual dancer and I just love a fun time on the dance floor and so he'll try and find me every night we go out and watches my body, tells me that he loves me and adores me; but the catch is that he was in an open relationship and idk the status of them now.... but he also makes me think he doesn't like me cuz I've tried to be like; well lets watch a movie and he'll pause and then be like nah I'm going to bed, or sometimes when he catches himself being flirty and then he retreats. He also leaves me on read sometimes if texting and has told me he's bad at texting.... I also don't know their status of relationship after we wrapped up working so I'm more just friendly than anything with him or keep a distance but his actions have me confused as I did start to develop feelings. So this is about a work colleague. He is super bubbly and laughs all the time with EVERYONE so it's really hard to tell if he likes me. The first time we met he was asking me a lot of personalish questions, like what my hobbies were, where I lived, who I lived with, and we really had some great conversations. I was super into him, so I made lots of comments about how well he was performing at his job on purpose to boost his ego, and after I did this he started trying to show off a bit by showing me all the codes he remembered and how many boxes he could lift etc. I acted really impressed even though I wasn't really lol. I just wanted to make him feel good about himself to hopefully boost his interest in me. At first I thought it worked, but then I noticed he wasn't initiating conversations with me. It was mostly me initiating the conversations. So, I stopped trying to talk to him and started talking to other coworkers and laughing with them and genuinely having fun. I was convinced he was just being nice so I moved on. BUT THEN he started coming up to me more, and I notice everytime he talks to me he gets REALLY really close. Like, I was at a computer and he checked something on it and came way closer than was necessary. Then, a day later, he was standing unneccesarily close to me again and he looked at me and said how nice I smelled and asked what I was wearing. I told him he smelled really good too. The other day he said bye to me twice when he left work. He said it once as he was going to the back to get his stuff, and then again as he was walking out the doors. I don't ever hear him say bye specifically to others like that. And, I noticed on days that we are scheduled together he dresses really really nice. Whereas, there have been times I've come in on overtime and he is always wearing something more frumpy. I really can't tell. I keep going back and forth between thinking he likes me and thinking he is just a friendly and nice person. Oh and I forgot to mention that our forearms touched once because he was standing so close but he didn't move away. I'm trying to be more obvious but I don't want to creep him out if I'm totally misreading everything.

@@eleanordavies9815 It was a nightmare LOL. He turned out to be a very unhealed person; something called a Dismissive Avoidant. But through his terrible behaviour I realized that I was very unhealed too because I was putting up with his crap. So I've been working on my self-esteem and people pleasing tendencies and creating strong boundaries so that I can make room for the right person.
