Even with that red card, put City or Real in our place, and they still go through. This was down to tactics and mentality, both of which the coach is responsible for (that’s of course leaving Araujo’s boneheaded decision out of it for a minute, which is what started it all)

Just fyi, in case you can't comprehend reality. They were 'better' when our best CB and best 1v1 winger went off. They were literally on track to get clapped already, 1 goal down. This is Barca's OWN fault. That is reality.

I think one free solution going forward is to develope Gavi into a cdm, similar to Kante at Chelsea. He’s tough as nails, amazing on the ball, great passer, and he might not be as quick as before with the acl surgery. Which isn’t really needed as a cdm.

Although he's young, I don't think he's the type of player to become a CDM. He drifts around the entire field, makes more sense to play more of an advanced role. I'm just not sure if he's disciplined enough to be a CDM. We already have natural CDMs coming through La Masia like Casado, he could definitely develop into a class player if he gets more playtime.

I think the criticism on Xavi is so overblown. How many coaches would do better with this team in these circumstances. Xavi will never return to the club just like pep never returned. And that is because the club is badly run and the board panders to much to the emotions of the socio’s who are not the smartest. I think we are missing out on a great future coach because we are not patient and do not have a long term perspective

We have had 4 coaches in the last since lucho left in 2017, with similar experiences every time. At what point do we look at the styles of leadership? I think any other coach that comes in now is gonna have the same problems at least for the first 2 seasons. You are very right about the club supporters lacking patience. We start over again, stagnating any improvements we made for another 2 years.

@@Turneleius I agree. I was most shocked to see alemany and jordi leave after winning a title. It just show what a mess it is in the board and how all the politics make it impossible for the club to properly function. That is what laporta needs to fix because no coach will function under a circus. I mean imagine if laporta was never voted out for rosell and he continued to run the club until today with pep as his coach.

Do you think that scouting a coach is just watching their games and seeing their results in the league? Do you know how in depth you have to go to profile a manager and know how he fits in your club. Deco's comments are taken out of context, of course he knows about Motta and what he's doing in serie a but he hasn't looked into him at the time because we already had a coach.

Well this guy hates xavi, to me he's the right coach for the job now. All these kids would never be discovered this season or even next season. In the first part of the season the players were to blame, look what happened when everyone was in form. The mentality and tactics were there for most of the time. Another thing he does that I like, he pushes for his players to finish off a team in the first 30 minutes. Look how strong they always start, the truth if the players had this form from the start we wouldn’t even think for him to leave. Also 2 out of 4 of these kids are almost world class performers and the other 2 is coming strong. He’s the right coach for La Masia. I don’t see who is a better fit than Xavi right now, if that new coach comes in and does pretty well is because Xavi set a strong foundation with the kids and the players are in top form. We need a pivot and Robert time is done for me, Vitor time now. Let’s invest in that new 9, get a pivot and buy second lb just in case Balde is injured again. This team is greater than it seems and I can say, if Xavi came right after Valverde Barca would be a much stronger team with dept.

Xavi is not a possession coach , he favours the direct style, long kick to lewa. Its so frustrating that he's one of the best possession System player the world has even seen and see his team play like this is a shame.

The Barca team that was fielded played to their maximum ability, which wasn't much! It was wishful thinking to have expected them to perform like the great Barca teams!

This guy Aldamuy doesn't know you cannot play possesion based football without elite 6.Here , as well as on twitter he rants about Xavi saying he has no tactics, without knowing much about football (which is kinda hypocritical). The squad clearly lacks many things, among them an elite striker who is not very stiff and slow like Lewy. Our squad is nervous on the ball, especially De Jong, and Araujo. These are the problems our squad have, and without solving these issues , we cannot move ahead. I'm surprised Dan just kept quiet while this guy was slandering Xavi, who's working with minimal resources, and imbalanced squad, yet trying to solve things . Lack of gratitude in these glory hunters.

I understand what you’re saying but for us to improve we really need to look inside. We have to let Lewandoski and Frenkie go (also everyone we have on loan apart from Julian Araujo and Alex Valle). For Pivot we need to really be sure of who we are bringing in Christensen and Casado can manage that role for now personally I would go for a left back (Ait-Nouri) and Dani Olmo. Cancelo as good as he is he doesn’t pay attention to what the team needs from him momentarily, he does as he please. I’d also opt for a striker but it might be too much given our situation. I’d keep raphina and Torres because we need squad depth and when we get more money we could go in for the best pivot but right now it’s too risky because if it doesn’t pay off we’ll be in the same position. Remember Lewandoski scored only 2 goals in this season Champions League and I’m not doubting his ability but at this point I’ll rather someone who can cover the ground and give defenders a hard time fight for every ball. We can make it as a team we just need to tweak things a little bit.

Whenever Rafa comes on I cannot disagree more with whatever he’s saying. He’s consistently cherry picking to in an attempt to have a “see I told you so!” moment, while simultaneously lacking the nuance to analyze a situation without his own bias. To say “at worst the next coach will do what Xavi did” is such a ridiculous statement it’s hard to take his opinions seriously.

You sell either your (atm) best players high or your worst players low. It's either selling one Raphinha/Araujo or three players like Torres. That's economy 101.

Rafa already has the thinking that xavi is is a bad coach, so he assumes anyone who comes in will be better. our fanbase has started to belittle xavi now. xavi is no where as bad as koeman, infact he has done better than expected. when the new manager comes in, we all finally see how how broken this club is from within

??? None of those winger options are even close to the level we need, even as a loan. At that point just keep Fati. It would make no sense to loan out Balde, he's our best LB considering we don't even know if Cancelo is going to sign permanently. Plus he was one of the best LB itw last season.

You overthink it too much, if it was 11 vs 11 we would've walked past psg, period. I think the game has impacted you guys' ball knowledge by saying Balde is better defensively than Cancelo and you would've taken Raphinha out instead of Lamine. At this point it's just yapping no offence.

@@abdizito8074 1 game as an exception doesn’t disprove the rule. He’s been a defensive liability in all the teams he’s played for, and same with Barca. He’s still an elite players attacking wise, but defensively he needs protection

There's no such thing as the perfect coach. I believe Xavi is the best option for Barcelona right now. Just think, Pep Guardiola, the best coach of this generation, "only" won 2 UCL with Prime Messi. Zidane, who nobody has mentioned as a top coach candidate since he left Real Madrid, won 3 UCL in a row. So we don't need a perfect coach to win championships. We need the right one that suits the club, and can bring the best out of the academy players and the Barca style. I believe Xavi can do that.

11:13 Nah, i disagree with leaving Lewandowski and sending off yamal. Lewandowski couldnt track back at all and was guilty for the 2nd goal. That allowed psg to attack more spaces than usual. We needed to just defend the result and ocasionally make counter attacks with yamal and raphina. We didnt have 4 passes to any player, to who we were supposed to pass the ball?? Pedri and de jong were awfull, gundo was ok. Raphina was trying to do something, had some decent plays but wasnt enough. As xavi did great subs in the 1st legs, subs in the 2nd leg were awfull.

Exactly! Either Pedri or lewandowski had to be sacrificed, because they didn’t offer anything either defensively or going forward. With Yamal and Raphinha, we would at least have an offensive threat on both wings. I don’t agree that Gündogan was good, though. He wasn’t there defensively either, lost the ball a lot, and lost the ball leading to their 4th goal

In what way Lewy was guilty? Sure, his attempt to block the shot was poor, but his job was to stay in the keeper's box as one of the highest players. He went to Vitinha to fix Frenkie's error.

We need to stop with this superstition about demons . We had poor coaching in the past years and thats the demon .
