More shmups on Switch is never a bad thing

The amount of love we're getting in some of these ports lately is miraculous, I'm glad these companies have been listening to the community and taking pride in what they're putting out. It just really makes me wish the Psikyo collection hadn't come out right before this became more commonplace (although the hardcore reception to its shortcomings may have been part of the reason that happened to begin with). While a lot of people might rank DOJ over it, it makes sense for them to do DFK first, as it's the most played online. A new publisher needs to get its financial feet under itself. For me, I'll just be waiting for someone to announce the all-but-confirmed physical version to pounce on it.

The Ketsui arrange is great, worth it for me just through that mode alone.

Mushi Futari is clearly the one they should bring...🤞

As an owner of both of the PCBs (though ironically I'm not a huge fan of the original game) and considering how shit the PS2 port is... I would say Ibara + Kuro would be an interesting port. Also DOJ and SDOJ... In fact fock it just port the entire 360 collection to the Switch and PS4/5 along with the earlier games. Dodonpachi campaign version would be amazing. Cave's legacy should be secured. If they port Futari though... They should also add 1.0 (another PCB I'm proud to own). It's brutal.

Own the 3 cave ports from Livewire , I hope they continue to bring more cave (or any other old but good) shmup to the switch. Also hoping for a (limited) cartridge release . The switch the ultimate shmup console (I know PS4 , Xbox 360 have many great too, PC has many more on steam... but you can play shmups everywhere with your switch ) ...and now with the oled screen , it's even better.

This is some awesome timing for another shmup release on Switch. I’ve got a Sanwa joy stick showing up soon to upgrade my 8BitDo Arcade Stick and have heard a LOT about the Dodonpachi series. I’m certainly a shmup novice, less than 100 hours total between a few titles, but I’ve really taken to the genre and really appreciate all of your content!

Have you tried ZeroRanger? It's the game that got me into shmups. And I still can't find a shmup I like more than it.

That 8bit do is not a good stick to drop a sanwa in. Hori Rap V well worth the extra just pop a JLF in the universal plate, or better a seimitsu ls32 and boom off you go. Anyway i hope it goes well! If you ordered a sanwa for shmups (!) You'll probs want the kowal actuator to reduce the throw...its more a fighting game lever (still v good)

I'm having a lot of fun with this and agree that all of the Live Wire Switch ports have been stellar. The fact that they gave us Espgaluda II, one of the 360 ports that didn't make the jump to Steam, gives me hope that maybe we could see ports of Mushihimesa Futari, DoDonPachi DaiOuJou, or Ketsui. Fingers crossed.

I hope they bring Ketsui next or bring a stand alone game of Progear for the switch

M2 have the rights to Ketsui afaik, but yeah, hope that gets a Switch port too. The PS4 port is well worth it tho. Absolutely amazing package.

So now I have ESP Ra De, Mushihimesama, and Dodonpachi. The non mobile version of Ketsui would be nice

It is a beautiful game. I just missed an art and music gallery.

This is the best review of this release I have seen. Clear, informative, useful and well presented.

Excellent review and overview of the game and the insane amount of content in this package.

After more and more try, i start to really love this game . Actually that s always like that with cave shmups .. this is magic . Excellent video !

For the price you pay its a total bargain. Would easily pay £40 for a physical. I have the xbox 360 rezerection copy and all the black label stuff was sold as dlc. I reckon Akai katana will be next but really hope muchi muchi pork gets a better port than the 360 version.

Excelent review, I played the game to death on steam but glad to see it getting a wider audience.

I’m loving these releases. Picked it up day one. I’d like to see Mushihimesama Futari get a release eventually & the original Dodonpachi would be nice too.

this life wire cave ports are the best shmups on switch for me - beside crimzon clover and some other games.

I’ve never had a means to play Ketsui, so man I’m loving that arrange mode.

really enjoying these, not only as reviews, but for their information on the concise information on the mechanics and differences of each various mode and game as for the game itself, it's still a pretty good dodonpachi game im just kind of put off by the kind of boring anime girl designs for the bosses

Information and library science. Dissertation was on public libraries collaborating with long distance hiking routes to distribute route information.

Wooo, DDP DFK gets released. AGAIN. Time to buy it one more time I guess. Is there any reason why Daioujou and Saidaioujou don't get ported ?

@@ShmupsOnSwitch That would be nice. Archiving Cave shmups on 360 only goes so far with how prone to failure that console is. ... and with how screwed up DOJ 1.0 is out of the box. Which reminds me some retail release of those games, maybe in packs, would be nice too.

Fyi this game now has a physical version through Limited Run Games if anyone is still checking this game a couple days late and a few dollars short 😆

I only wish it had save states for practicing later levels. Other than that, it's another great 360 port from Live Wire!

I think you can select stages through the training mode

While I wish they added the content from the mobile version too I'm still satisfied with this port

there's a bug in stage 5 for black label that impedes proper scoring, so avoid this port till a fix is released if you're interested in that

what ist the difference between „normal“ and „boost“ in the top left? what disadvantage do i have if u use „boost“ the whole time???

I wish they would release the other two versions..

What's holding you back, if you don't mind me asking? Because you're right, the content is ridiculously good so if you do like shmups, I think it's hard to find any package that offers more. By the way, if you're thinking of getting it on Steam, I think it goes on sale there semi-regularly - certainly more chance of catching it on sale on Steam than on Switch.

@@ShmupsOnSwitch Well about Steam sale, the strange thing is that Halloween sale and Autumn sale came but Dodonpachi Resurrection didnt sale yet Mushihimesama and Deathsmiles did? About whats keeping me from trying.... Its honestly abit hard to explain without sounding like an idiot here, I am afraid that the game may be abit too similar to Mushihime or Touhou.

Is playable Hibachi unlockable in this version (like the mobile port)?

This is sadx (sonic adventure deluxe directors cut) done right sadx on PC was a portception with every port being a worse version. The steam being the last this is the inverse it's a portception where the next port doesn't end up being shit

It's nice to have this game on a mobile device, but I literally can't see what I am doing. :(

No, it's a vertical shooter, not a horizontal shooter. You can change the background tho, there are plenty of different options.

1. Futari 2. Ketsui 3. Akai

Can the voices be toggled off?

I feel like all these LIVE WIRE Switch games are just straight Xbox 360 ports and nothing more. That’s not a bad thing, 19.99$ is ok and when each of these go on sale will make it better. The problem is debating to rebuy each of these shooters in physical form once Limited Run Games picks up each one of these licenses for limited production.

Yeah, they should be. I think they're going to do them in release order. certainly they've said Mushihimesama will be first. That has been out for several months already though.

This isn't the one that's wanted. It's a good game but Res isn't the best one out of the series..

Where the hell is DonPachi? Why haven't we gotten a port of this game but endless talk and releases of Dodon. Ugh. Just give us DonPachi you cowards. No lameass animu waifus ear-grating sounds or artwork. Just shooting.
