Kristyn, great video. I'm an Information Technology (IT) Project Manager and I agree with all the points you made. I have a business analyst that works under me rather than an associate PM. The role at manages several workstreams is called a Program Manager at my company. As an IT Project Manager I remove all roadblocks to ensure we stay focused on scope, schedule, budget for both Technical and non-technical resources.. #ProjectManager #ProjectManagement

Hi Kristyn, awesome video on PM. I am starting to prepare for certification of PM too.. Although, my current title is not PM, I actually do a lot of PM work. So also, if you are not actually looking for the title of a PM there are roles out there that consists of PM responsibilities that many companies are looking for. So overall I think having PM certification /experience on your resume will put you ahead of many people that lack this. I just became a Manager in February and increased my salary tremendously by just having the MBA, Pharma experience and PM experience without certification. I believe that having the resume showcase who you are is key! Once again, thank you so much for this great video. I cant wait to see more content on this topic ☺️🌟✨🌟✨

Seriously thank you for doing these videos! I have done PM in the past but took a career break to focus on family. I am now back on the grind! I am currently taking the Google PM professional certificate course & as soon as I finish I will be studying to take the CAPM exam. I am trying to set myself up to be able to move abroad & secure a job but have better qualifications to help me get it!

Also make sure you take some Agile methodology classes. A lot of companies have moved away from Waterfall methodology. Also be sure to learn about Azure Dev Ops. Good luck on your new journey and welcome back to the Project Management world. Take care and be safe

Yes, but you have to qualify for the exam. I can’t remember off the top of my head what the requirements are but PMI.org will have everything you need. You will want to look for the required hours and testing to sit for the exam. If you pass the exam I would personally apply for PM jobs and not associate jobs.

Hi! I know you asked the content creator, but a Project Manager isn't the same as a Project Coordinator. A Project Coordinator is considered a Business Analyst, something like what she describes in this video as like an Associate/Assistant PM.

@@tammybenaytv4631 Yes, my apologies to be clear I was saying a Project Coordinator is similar to a Business Analyst or an Assistant Project Manager. A Project Manager is a bit higher up the ladder, as Kristyn explained. A PC, BA or assistant PM could become a PM.

When you are creating a time line for your project how are you sure how long certain task that you don’t really do will take?

What’s called a “work break down structure” where you break down the deliverables into smallest form and determine how long each piece takes to come up with the whole timeline by putting everything back together.

Well according to recruiters Me and a few other students spoke to, they essentially kept hush hush about it to those of us interested despite us asking questions lmao they just said “experience is required” and I’m like then whyyy are you recruiting students lmaoo

@@MB-xv7er you can get experience to get a role. That’s what the video is about. If you follow the definition of project as defined by PMI you just need to practice doing things that fit that description and you can gain experience to get certified.

Hey Ashley, I would try both for sure. Also make sure you’re looking at remote openings with your search. If you’re selecting a specific location you may miss those and there are a lot right now. I hope that helps! Good luck!

Hi Ashley just get your resume out to as many people as possible. Send it to a recruiter and search for PM jobs in your area. Be clear on your expectations with the recruiter and if you're willing to move and the industry. There are many types of project managers. I'm an IT Project Manager and I manage the entire project for all resources which include IT, business subject matter experts (SMEs), shared service teams such as Security, application architecture, infrastructure, AD, QA, QC and other resources. So it really depends on the industry.
