    Of course. I just started a new job at a machine shop. I've been there 2 months, I work in the same department as a woman who's been there for 9 years. She makes much more than I do at the present time. In the next year, I'll reach topout pay for my position and we'll make a comparable amount. But they didn't start me out at a higher wage because I'm male. Not even close. She made 6 thousand+ in January and I didn't come close to that. I'm not seeing the sexism.

    When I worked at McDonald’s, Dairy Queen, papa johns, everyone got paid equally. Except for the managers got paid more, which were usually females. I don’t understand what the wage gap means. I’ve never experienced it in 16 of my previous jobs. NOT ONCE If the job is equal to male and female, the wage is exactly the same. If the female wants to move up and work as a manager, she’ll get paid more. Just as a male would get paid more if he was a manager. Male and female managers got paid exactly the same. What is this gap that everyone is questioning??

  • @dpeters9897

    @dpeters9897

    The “wage gap” is, quite simply, the real dollar amount that men earn divided by the number of earners compared to the real dollar amount women earn divided by the number of earners. When looked at in raw dollars, with no other factors, men earn more than women on average. What they don’t mention is that men are more willing, again on average, to work longer hours (overtime pay), in dangerous locations like oil rigs and the like (hazard pay), and do filthy/boring jobs (plumber, welder, etc.) Another thing the people spouting-off about the wage gap fail to mention...when controlling for experience-level and job (which is to say: equally qualified candidates in the same position) women actually make slightly MORE than their male counterparts.

    There are different ways the two genders take care of their family, should the man only work? Absolutely not, they should work absolutely and provide for his family, but he needs to be a role model and a leader as well. That's what they do man. Provide them with the proof they're too lazy to find themselves and they dismiss it as lies or skewed. This indolent tactic is everywhere in politics be it the gun debate, abortion, here in the "gender wage gap" and it's ridiculous. My favorite was in a debate about guns with a leftist coworker that always resorted to name calling, and when I gave her proof that not only do defensive uses of firearms save more lives than are taken, more people are killed with literally every other weapon including hands and feet than rifles (cause supposedly they don't want to take all your guns just the scary ones) and when I provided the source; CDC, she said we couldn't trust the government to provide accurate data. But we can trust them not to subjugate us after we've given up our only source of defense against such acts? These people won't learn until Hitler Youth is a reality not just a shitty insult towards them.

    The beauty of postmodernism, and why these feelings based people love it. Postmodern philosophy is framed around the rejection that objective reality exists, and therefore reason and logic aren't metrics of truth, but feelings are. Facts simply become evidence to support "your truth" and not "my truth" (how many times have you heard them use those terms eh?).

These are just because of womans preferences to stay home and not wanting to get "dirty".

    @@amirahhmukhtarxx7129 the papers i think explain the concept of the gender gap pretty well. Of course 99% of employes will pay the same wages to the same positions. But its easy to imagine that in some jobs some genders or charactiristics give you a better chance. For example a beautiful secretary, a strong business leader. In both cases one gender has a slighty higher chance for the job. But sadly in the well paid jobs men have a better chance (of course there are exceptions). Its a problem about sexism in the society. Not the official rules. To counter the sexism and get more women into positions where gender obiously doesnt matter (e.g. politics, physics science) alot of countries introduced a rule that slightly favours women. Once we feel that there is no sexism is gone in the society there will be no need to counter it with these rules. (actually the same logic applies to racism in job applications). Does that make sense or do i have a logic error somewhere?

    @@Cerus98 - Check your legal knowledge. Just because an organization receives state or federal money does NOT mean they are a "public space". It means they cannot discriminate for admissions or employment. It means they cannot remove students or employees for expressing their opinions (unless doing so is to protect them or others, of if the expression of said opinions constitutes a criminal act). It does NOT make them "public property". Intel and AMD both receive state and federal money. They are NOT "public works", nor are their campuses "public property". Even the local water treatment facilities, which are WHOLLY run by local and state taxpayer money, are not considered "public property", even though they are wholly operated by the local government. If you are trespassing on the facility, they are well within their rights to ask you to leave, or to have you arrested for trespassing. "Public Property" has a VERY specific legal definition. And there are still laws as well as ordinances and rules that can apply. If I go to a Public Library, and create a disturbance, I can still be asked to leave, and if I refuse, they are well within their rights to have the police remove me or arrest me. The fact that it is a PUBLIC facility, on Public Land, does not change this. Disorderly Conduct, Creating a Disturbance, Trespassing....the list goes on. Just because it is "public space" does NOT mean that rules, ordinances, and laws suddenly get suspended. Go to a State Park. Start knocking over garbage cans and lighting the trash on fire. Heck, just start shouting stuff at other park patrons and wildlife. The Park staff will ask you to leave. If you don't, you will be arrested. Just because it is a "public space" doesn't mean there aren't rules you have to follow. It's important to know your rights. It's equally important to know WHERE THEY END. Too many people think that their "rights" go a LOT further than they actually do. And this gets them in trouble. (Σ)
