While standing, I can keep ( and wit an effort) my legs straight only if my upper body stays parallel to the ground. A bit inclined lower and I have to bend in knees. The flexibility is a key element in gymnastics.

Jefferson Curls dramatically changed my hamstring and calf flexibility. I’d recommend exploring those combined with the standing straddle GM

When I was young, I was spending quite a lot of time with sportsmen of international level and the girls from Bolshoi Theatre. My girl friend was putting her leg behind her opposite ear without any effort or warming. But my flexibility was poor. As this was and is the case with MAJORITY of people I met. Once more, one can NOT develop one's flexibility. Only reach one's genetic level.

You may never reach a contortionists level of flexibility, but you definately can improve! You'll never know if you don't work on it.

Interesting how much is devoted to the lower body. Most people including me recently only think of shoulder mobility when it comes to HS

Yeah I definitely focus more on lower body for both myself and when teaching. Trying to create balance around the hips, so to help the body to become one segment

How about a video on overhead shoulder mobility? I'm totally asymmetrical in this way, even struggling with my left arm to overhead press a 12.5kg dumbbell because of it (its a breeze with my right hand). Naturally, this kills my handstands. Thanks!
