    Hi Paul! You´ve given me so many helpful tips in this video. My problem lies in both flexibility and strength. I´m trying to fill the gap, as you rightly put it coming down eccentrically and achieve a controlled landing. There´s so much info I´ll be watching it again and again. Great video!👍

    Thanks! Im a big believer of strengthening the wrists and forearms by doing the thing. So slowly increasing the intensity and volume of your handstand training will slowly condition and strengthen everything needed.

    lol dog was like "here we go again.." for the actual Press HS, you make it look so easy! I have to compress super hard to press up. I'm really liking the wall drill, I've also added the one facing chest to wall. I feel my hip flexors working hard in that variation! Definitely adding the wall leans in my next session! Thanks Paul!

    Yeah sounds like those two will be good for your press. Keep on top of the straddle and pancake flex as well. Rosie was definitely not interested in this video!

    Hi from venezuela! Total newbie here. I have a health condition that makes it really hard for me to do any strenuous work, but I'm determined to work out regularly and i want to be able to do a handstand someday. Thanks for the great video, i like that you explain everything thoroughly and show lots of alternatives! Most videos will try to sell it to you like it's something you can learn in a day, but you really went out of your way to be as real as possible!

    Thank you so much for this tutorial! Thanks to you now I can have 40sec free handstand! Would you say that after having a free handstand is this the next logical step/skill to aim for? Or is there another handstand skill that I should master before this?

    I have the tuck press, and the stradle going down. Working on 7. The straight leg press is killing me. I just nailed a few ugly wobbly ones the last two days. I am doing all the drills to get more flexibility in my spine and hips. But this game is all about consistency and repeating again and again and again. .. dear me.

    I have very strange thing with handstands where I can somehow easily pike press to hs but only in a specific place where i know that wall is behind me although I don't use it at all plus i can easily fall to the bridge If I fell back 🤔🤔 so strange!

  • @PaulTwyman

    @PaulTwyman

    This is common if you have a deep forward fold. Tuck press and or stalder press training will help to build more control

    @@PaulTwyman thank you so much i was thinking that I'm having some strange thing that affects so much my practice because i never even use the wall it's just the feeling that i have control if wall is behind me and whenever i change the place (which i do often) it affects my practice 🤔...Good to know that this is all part of the process! I'm going to work more on my tuck press.

    Hey! What are your thoughts on bailing out from a mexican handstand?

  • @PaulTwyman

    @PaulTwyman

    2 жыл бұрын

    When I train Mexican I pick one of two options. Drop to back bend or twist out. Normally I would twist out unless I’m intentionally training back bend at the same time. However there are two types of people when it comes to Mexican: those that are very open in extension and those that are tight. Tight people like me can hang out at end range and then the others need to learn to put the brakes on half way through their range. For the second group I would train using a target (box etc)
