DMC5 Taking Notes: EP. 1 - Basic Mechanics
Ойындар
Decided to make a small tutorial series dedicated to getting newcomers to understand how to get used to the mechanics that more advanced players use. As far as advanced combat stuff in general, that won't be discussed until people have figured out all the characters, which will take time.
Feel free to translate this tutorial in other language if you want. No need to contact me.

I just love a good intro synced to funky ass music.
YAY! Thank you so much for this. When you get to it, please post "combo videos" where you "dissect" the steps in the combo step by step to know how to build your own combo.

@AC84 Actually, the freestyle scene and the combo scene (at least in DMC4) are different diverging points, and generally the combos for specific planned combos are far more complex than the latter, and each of them tackling an new idea/setup that isn't explored before. High level combo making takes extremely high amount of effort, practice, creativity, and talent. These combos involve insane positioning, abuse of Lucifer knockback angles (understanding the timing of lucifer attacks the angle it will explode on), ecstasy explosion sequences(using the way ecstasy set the pins to explode on sequence to manipulate fuse time), AI prediction (predicting an AI action, or even a long set of actions in advance and using it against them), and even hitbox collision displacement (such as using the knock back from your attack on an enemy, and "riding" on the knocked back enemy to move with it) to insane levels. I recommend that you give this a read to understand more about it: www.reddit.com/r/DevilMayCry/comments/8xy9z1/

On a side topic, I think the player who can do the most complicated and position specific combos in freestyle settings is probably AYU.
Chaser, just a suggestion, i have a problem building cool long combos, especially w dante, if ur tutotials will cover this theme eventually, please insert some drills/exercises/hard combos, so we could learn and develop our own style. U always have been a good source of info for dmc comunity, glad u decided to do the same w dmc5. PS any plans on playthrough on harder difficulties? normal one havent been a challenge for you

Dante is complicated. To play with him well, you'll have to practice switching between styles when its necessary. Like, once you perform a combo you'll switch to trickster to either dash or teleport toward the enemy and then continue the combo. I love to combo, hit them away, jump dash with trickster, bullet rain with gunslinger, and then land on top of them using the sword. I recommend spending LOTS of time in the void, learning how to chase ememies and keep up with yourself.

@@AndrewSF8898 yeah JC can help you repeat moves. But i find it easier to hit SSS if i dont spam JC after every move but instead use it to transition between weapons while staying in the air.

Been into the franchise since DMC1, but managed to beat its DMD, H&H, and BP just solely because and in this game. Still need tons of more practices, and thank you so much for these tutorial vids!!!!
Marvel vs Capcom 2 Swamp Theme? Beautiful choice Chaser.
That MvC2 soundtrack.
Here we go again. I mastered nero for the most part thanks to your dmc4 uploads. Never mastered dante because he was awkward to use, but now my time has come.
A second vidéos on the subject would be greatly appreciated !

Thank you ever so much. Great Helpful Notes. Looking forward to Dante's Mechanics and how to master his Play-style cuz to be honest he got a gigantic load of things and i still have problems when it comes to switching weapons in mid-air in the middle of a combo and what to do next. my hands can't keep up with my mind. Thank you again.
I know some people who would benefit greatly from videos like these, so I would very much like to share it to them. But since there are spoilers (mainly the fact that Nero has a devil trigger, which isn't a thing until the very end of the game) I can't in good conscience do that. These tips are mostly beneficial for players who hasn't even started the game yet, or at the very least for those who are in the early parts of it, so I think it's a shame that stuff like that wasn't saved for the advanced combat video. Anyway, that's just my feedback. I think the content itself is great but I'll have to keep a look out for something else to share to my spoiler sensitive DMC virgin friends. Stay Stylish.

everyone has had DT since always, period. (not Lady no never sweet innocent Lady) The fact you get to see a little Nero DT is not a spoiler. The manner in which he achieves it is. if anything its motivation to get to be a barney badass, then you and your friends will learn how Nero did it.

For nero i use square for exceed and r2 for his gun charge. The trick with exceed is hitting the button when his sword is a little over halfway of the swing, if that makes sense. Dante is pretty much default for many players. I only have his gun switch(L1) and devil trigger(L2) swapped. Ive been thinking of swapping his lock on and weapon switch. R1(weapon switch) R2(lock on) but im so use to lock on being set on R1.
Even a veteran like me needs to learn the fundamentals.
Launch and knockback can be great to buy time to set up certain attacks that are slow to launch Like Multiple Twins can launch many enemies and because there are a lot of mini missiles and each can cause a launch It helps buy time to set up Mega Cascade or even Hysteric Twins if close enough I often use this in tandem with Cavaliere Where after any Cavaliere move that knocksback I follow up with Multiple Twins to launch the target and then set up Mega Cascade Another is using Full throttle which is both a chase move and a move that can knockback but unlike most other moves that can chase and knockback Dante moves very far forward enough that he ends up close enough for a follow up attack In this case I followed up with Hysteric Twins which has a strange and often randomized mix of knockback and launch Sometimes you can endlessly juggle foes as they get knockbacked in all sorts of directions but still get launched Other times its a knockback that has them end up out of your reach Usually I wait to use this once I have SSS so I can Quadruple S cancel to teleport with circle then Sin Inferno
I got one question about lock-on probably a bit more advanced, but how do you and other people use stuff like full house, helm breaker or even backwards GS shotgun in the opposite direction of the enemy?
@LaowPing
5 жыл бұрын
It's called a reverse attack. It's an older DMC mechanic and requires some input buffering. One if his older advanced tutorial covered it but I can't remember which one of the top of my head.

@grantgarbour
5 жыл бұрын
Jump cancel aerials to make longer combos, learn when to use certain breakers and buster, when you have an enemy in a hard knockdown go for a devil trigger showdown, use exceed specifically ex act (max act eventually)
While their was tremendous effort put into this game (I thought Nero's buster grab was gonna be really watered down compared to dmc4 which would have been understandable, but then they ended up doing unique animations for each kinda enemy which blows my mind) I can't believe they didn't fix the lock on. Besides what you talked about, you have to standing still to change targets. This was not the case in DmC 3, but it was in 4. I'm not sure what they're thinking with that. I will say jump cancellation is sooo much better for me in dmc5. Im curious to see if it's the same for a pro like you.

I know its called basics but i dont think eny one playing dmc for the first time dosent know how to move in a video game
What really pisses me off is when you’re trying to air juggle one enemy and a Riot is already making a bee line towards you, therefore resulting in you taking damage and interrupting your attack. Nero lacks the evasion that Dante has, so every time I try to air juggle an enemy, I’m open, and another enemy that’s usually off screen can tag me and interrupt my combo on higher difficulties. I want to send you a video of myself playing so I can get better. Please send me a Facebook, email, ect.
@manuelmateo3392
4 жыл бұрын
That's mainly just an issue of enemy positioning. Nero has options for crowd control, and the rest is just looking out for cues. Nero still has quite a few evasion options (namely in Shuffle and Table Hopper), but those won't exactly help you in this situation. It's just a matter of looking out, if you haven't already found a way around this.
Its cool that someone makes high-quality video guides for dmc5, but, probably, this mechanics are TOO basic. I mean, everyone knows how to control the character or that attacks can change the position of char or enemy. It even shown in the tutorial.
@ChaserTech

I made this with the intention to teach new players that never really looked into the game before. lol Don't worry though, things are ramping up soon.
If people don't know how to move their character, they probably shouldn't be playing DMC.
