Like always, I have something in my head and then I start to build it and while building, other ideas come to me.
And then after that i draw the plans.
Worked our very well this time 😁
I wanted to make it as small and smart as possible. At the moment its possible to Bend 750mm long and maximum of 1,5mm thick steel, shorter should be 2mm possible. To build it for 1m should be also possible.
To turn the Bending (hold-down angle) die (1mm or 2,5mm) for a bigger bending radius is very importend for thicker Aluminium (upcoming projects). If its to small, it could happen that it will break.
To screw it on the my weldingtable and have a flat workspace was very importend for me.
I have built a second hold-down-angle device that I can change if necessary. I'll use this if I have to make some boxes....I will ad more and more cut out when i needed it.

Man the beginning when you rolled out the sandpaper and clamped it down made me appreciate my vintage craftsman belt sander . Nothings built like that anymore .

A really well made piece!! Been thinking about building my own for a while, and yours is excellent!!! The amount of options built in is great!! I think another huge take away from your vid is that my bench needs a lot of holes added... What a great idea for aiding in the lil fabrication projects!!!
I love the workaround for the metal brake. Great job. Will start working on mine tomorrow. Cheers!
Wow, that is an incredible brake you made. I especially like the modification so that you can pass the panel edges through to make a closed panel.
And the most beautiful welds and cuts. GODDAMN
Great video. I'd never have thought of tacking 4 pieces together and drilling at the vertex to make a quarter round for the hinge until I saw it.

Great job Dirk! Thanks for sharing all you do. I learn a lot from every project you share.
This is absoluterly the best Sheet metal bender video I have ever seen. Some really nifty ideas and very skillfull fabrication. Love the modular adaptability.
Это гениально! Благодарю тебя за твой труд. Всех благ и процветания.
I bought a plan and have now fabricated my own metal bender. I couldn´t agree more to all positive feedback! The bender works very well and is really very flexible!! I did a small adjustment to #2 (Flat steel 100x10, lenght 820 mm) in the plan: I drilled two 13mm holes in lower left and right corners and I now can bolt #2 to a vertical support in the table if needed. This helped a lot not to overstress the weld between #2 and both #4´s when working with "too tough" material. Oh, by the way, you also inspired me to enhance my welding table to a totally new level.

Great overall design and build. It's built like a tank except for the barrel portion of the hinge, it looks like it's to thin. With all of the stress being focused on those two hinges it will be interesting to see if it holds together over time.
