DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 15 (Tailgate Wall)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Please excuse the poor workmanship. But before I get asked. Please remember that all of this is just a prototype. As I decide what I want to keep and what I want to change I will find it much easier to change cheap wood then nicely finished wood.
This is the start of the rear wall. I wanted something to separate the outside of the camper from the inside. I am currently thinking two thoughts right now.
1st idea: to keep it this way and have it look the way it is. With the tailgate and the door above it to reveal the rear wall of the camper.
2nd idea: To get rid of the rear door and the tailgate and to give a few extra inches on the inside. This would require having the rear sprayed again to match the rest of the camper and to give it a weather proof finish.
I also still have to close off the last few holes. And add some sort of trim around the doors and the open spaces just to make it look a little less unfinished. I wont be filming all the finishing touches on the back. But I will update everyone with a complete walkthrough once the canvas has been installed.
I am currently working on the loft bed. Again. I just want something temporary for now so I can use it. The plywood I have left over from this project is just a bit too small for this but I will use it anyways so I have something to sleep on for now. After the loft is done it will be time for the Canvas. Then time to test it all out on a camping trip.
We are entering the start of the rainy season here. So it may be a bit harder for me to complete some of these projects. I will do what I can as soon as I can. Thank you again for watching. And keep those ideas coming. Anything I can change to make this better will greatly be appreciated.
As promised

Lol. I'm glad you do. I'm going to replace the whole back eventually. Just needed something to close it off for now so I can use it properly. This was just the fastest way I had that I could add insulation.

Its good building that way IF you have a general idea that works. I do it so I’m liking your project. I’m going to begin one myself this week and your example takes a the design worry out. Like you I have Kreg and just finished and sold a neat portable chicken house that’s a lot like a camper shell. So THANKS. Cool vid presentation technique.

I noticed how the rear springs sagged as people were getting in and out. I would suggest air bags for the rear. Good luck with your camping adventures. 👍🏻🙏🏽🙏🏽🦘🦘

What are you trying to say? Cause I weight a lot less then I look. lol. And yeah. That is something I looked into. But with the condition of my truck I don't know if its worth the money at this point. Will definitely want some for my next truck.

Hey,. The weird shaped door in the middle. Gives me more then enough room to get in. It's a small downside to having a slide out kitchen.

@@RecceCampers All I know, is I would NOT want to "juggle" a "needs to be emptied" potty out the door along with yourself. Tetris is a great game, but not with spilly stinky stuff. That is all I will say on the subject. Good Luck!!! :)

Have you done any market research to see what people want out of their campers?

  • @RecceCampers

Hey, No market research needed here. This one is a prototype, and its for me. If I end up getting a proper building area and I build for others I would make each one custom to the user and truck that they want it for. I'm even looking at building some small car campers also. It will all depend on where I end up living next year.
