DIY Funny Car Part 3, Done! (Hopefully)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I take care of all the loose ends on the DIY Funny Car made from a Jeep ZJ Grand Cherokee. It drove a few hundred feet, so I'm sure it's ready to race (fingers crossed). It felt pretty good on the first test, so now I have to bring it a few hundred miles to the Duct Tape Drags and see if I can get into the Battle of the Beaters. This should be fun!

James is really starting to master editing these videos to really highlight the dry dead pan humor! There’s a lot of other channels out there, but this one is for sure the most entertaining. It’s honestly the highlight of my week when a new video comes out!

White is the best color for covering amateur(ish) bodywork. I once had a Mazda p/u with MAJOR rust. To Bondo it would have been a waste of good Bondo. So I covered the rust holes with clear packaging tape. Then covered the tape with primer. Then painted the truck white. PRESTO: Brand new truck!

Bodywork tip - next time you paint that expanding body filler, try using paintable undercoating. It does take a few extra dollars out of the pocketbook, but it does a great job of filling in the pores left behind by the saw, and I think it's worth it. P.S. - I live in a part of the country where those "Salt Life" bumper stickers have a different meaning and I've had some form or combination of filler and spray foam rockers on pretty much everything I've owned. I've found that heavy coat of that paintable undercoat fills the holes in better than doing actual work. If you paint it, it looks like chipguard. If you don't, it dries black and looks like fancy bed liner. PPS Love the show!

Man! This is about the most fun video I have seen IMHO. The Jeep is incredible, & I'm rooting for the title win for you! Confidently. It sounds and looks "Funny Car" proper gud. I'm inspired by the flushing method for cleaning the block out. It will be copied as accurately as I can manage. How fortunate you are to be ready to fix those wheel holes, aside from the right thinking .. some right equiptment makes all the difference. On screen those look like factory and I'd use them as if they are factory, myself. Great little repair. If there can be such a thing? 😃😃

Believe it or not the Rust-Oleum paint is not that bad oh, you can actually add acrylic hardener and clear coat to that Rust-Oleum and of course reducer and spray that and it will act just like car paint. Ask me how I know??? Always a great video from you I can hardly wait until they hit. Have a great time at the duct tape drags

If you think you need some extra support for those front wheels,,, you could make a couple of large four hole/ five hole "with center hub hole" washer plates out of some steel, then the aluminum center will have steel on both sides when mounted on the axle .
