Trying the Vice Grip Garage "Shine Juice" on my J-10, and first time on the road in 25 years!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
My pieced together, Ford engine swapped, 5-speed Jeep J-10 actually drives on the road for the first time in over 25 years! It even looked good doing it, because I used the Vice Grip Garage "Shine Juice" technique to really bring out the patina. I even have the brakes working on this FSJ, with brake lights and everything! Its really coming along now...

I had a J-20 Jeep back in the day. That thing stayed up all night conspiring on how to bleed my wallet dry.
I have always wanted one of those bomb-proof Jeep pickups. You're lucky to live in a region where it rarely rains, because you don't find sheet model that old AND that solid in Missouri. But I would also hate to live in a desert.

These trucks were unstoppable winter beasts here in Wisconsin but I swear if you got close enough to it you could HEAR it rusting🥲 Stupid road salt destroys everything here
That's my dream truck. I've wanted a 1976 J10 since I was a kid. My dad had a 76 cherokee chief that I was in love with before it got wrecked.
Sometimes, very rarely at that, I get lucky with You Tube suggesting exactly what I wanted but didn't know I wanted and want as much as I can want which is a lot of wanting more. Please do not change the whats, hows, whys and you guessed it, wants of how you make your videos.

I was wondering what it would look like on my j4000 and google managed to pull up this j10 without me even mentioning it
It’s now got the shine juice AND way more brakes than Derek could ever imagine. Nice!
I swear all these car channels are intertwined
We have an expression in England. " Just wipe it with an oily rag". Similar to what your doing. Enjoying all your videos.
Great channel !! Realistic real world back yard wrench’in.
Well.. that pile of Truck pieces came out preety shiny and working! Awesome job!
Perfect rig for up here in Alaska. Nice job!
Wow! A video that isn't two hours long! Good job!
Nicely done! I am partial to the full size jeeps. I have a ‘79 Cherokee chief sport 4 door with a 360 and 3 speed. I’ve been tempted to fix it or sell it. You are inspiring me to get working on the old girl again.

I found a 78 Waggy my GF was in love with it, that 360 would never run for her, id go rescue her, get in it it would fire up and Id drive it home it had some issues though, bought it for cheap sold it high but I kinda miss it...I could never find a better carb and adapter it had some super complex rochester carb on it massive thing...

Thanks! The FSJ's are a good size, and they've got a nice look. Enjoy your project!
Now at this point I wouldn't be surprised if Jay Leno made a cameo in one of your videos... I worked as A repair technician in a rental equipment yard for 10 years. During that time I was forced to service everything the "proper" way! After watching your videos it brings back memories of my youth. All too often needing to get farm equipment back usable enough to get the job that was most critical finished with the supplies on hand. Bubble gum and bailing wire reengineering! Ahhh it brings back memories...

Double bubble bubble gum on the top tank of my Morris Oxford when it sprung a leak. Held up for two winters with anti-freeze in it. Ya do the best you can with what you got.
I had an old brake hose collapsed internally and locked up on my 81 GMC one ton truck. I had to back home half a mile with driver side, front wheel sliding on the snow on the edge of our country road.
Really enjoy! Thanks. Good times!
Your work went a long way. It looks amazing!
That cable trick is a good one! I’m gonna steal that one for sure!
That is a beautiful truck! I would love to own it and use it for a daily driver! They are very popular here in Sweden (not just that model)

Among the dozens of things that make this channel an absurd delight are the number of one off whatsits that are in frame on occasion. Makes me so happy to see a VAT spinning on top of his house. This guy must have married exactly right.

That is a real nice year and model. I do like the colour and the Vice Grip Garage detailed simonize. Came out really well,. You should pull ot thevrear left bumper to straighten it out. Tie a slack chain to the caterpillar and get the Jeep up to 35 mph, and that will pull her straight and even. HA! Good job....
Great episode, thanks
3:50 well, that's neat. I just always used Pledge furniture polish. spray it on, wipe off the excess. beads water like turtle wax.
Seems like the key is the precise measuring of the ingredients in the shine juice. The color is actually pretty cool!
For anyone going to do calipers, you flip the final dust shield inside out and put it in the groove on the piston after greasing the crap out of it. It should just slide in but you have to finagle it. To get a stuck piston out, shoot compressed air into the bleeder hole and stick a bunch of sockets and an Alan wrench into the piston cup. Pull the piston back and forth with the Alan while applying air and it will fire out of the hole just be careful because it literally will shoot up to the ceiling.
I like the way you used a pry driver, to properly remove the front calipers. Using the flex line to clear the brake lines, was an excellent idea. It would not have worked for me on my last job, because some of the brake lines had the fabric covering and the lines had disintegrated. The good part was, that I got to practice my double flaring.
This was a great episode! Thanks!
Was going to go to bed, but got a notification of a new low buck garage video
Very sharp looking!!
Damn that bug juice does a nice spruce up.. And that gag at 10:50 haha! Priceless!

I sure do love this channel!

Love the channel!
That copper paint on the wheel look like a perfect match on camera ,the truck looks great well done for bringing another vehicle left for dead back to life
Jeep looks awesome! ✌
Man i love that truck my dad when i was a kid told me he'd buy me a jeep pickem up truck that day never happened and he passed away may 19th 2019. I'm hoping and praying i could have what he promissed me as a child...But i can't afford one....I wish my dad was here, may God give him rest and peace...
I did that Comet Cleanser on my tires back in the late 5-'s and early 60's. Also used it on the rubber floor mats. As great now as it was then. Your painted surface treatment is a no-go for me. All I can see is our micro-fine abrasive desert dust sticking to that oily surface. I'm here in Phoenix and the Sonoran Desert. Reminded me of when I used a equal amount of Boiled Linseed oil and Diesel fuel to seal my Saltillo clay tiles before I put them down on a floor. The mixture soaked into the porous clay and sealed the top surface with a shine you can't believe.
Good to see it back on the road... Good work...

I've just wiped them down with a rag and some diesel fuel, like once a week and had them come out pretty good. One time I was driving a concrete truck and doing the diesel fuel wipe and found that the concrete dust at the plant settling the oily truck brought out a really nice shine. Customers used to compliment me on the truck being so clean all the time lol......

I did the SOS clean on a 1985 Ford F150 that had sitting outside for most if not all of its life, worked great! As an aside I was going to clean the wheels on my 2006 Lincoln Towncar, first cleaning in 6 years, yeah, they were looking pretty shabby. I decided to use the crème cleaner that came with a headlight lens restoration kit from Maguari's . I have used mothers and aluminum jelly, it works but it's a lot of work, I'm lazy so I tried the crème stuff, it was amazing! It cleaned the wheels in like 10 minutes each with minimal effort and it doesn't take much product to do it! Thanks for the upload!!
I really think its a good looking rig, a go to town rig for this part of the woods anyway.... nice job
This is very similar to what I cooked up to wipe down my rat rod 36 pickup before going to Bonneville salt flats for Speedweek. I used linseed oil with a little ATF and thinned out with turpentine.
What a nice truck! Want some like that in France !! But here, people don t like old cars...

Sweet! Ref your WD40 can with no propellant - but juice still in (that really pisses me off).. quick fix...take an old tire valve, remove shrader valve, trim the bottom plug off (the one that would be on the inside of the rim), pull the button off your wd40 can stick your tire gage compressor deal'o onto the tube in the can you want to fill, push down let air flow wah lah propellant back in your can (dont lose the push button that goes on the can)...Im sure yoou will realize the savings in this procedure.

BEst product I have found to clean tires ( and MANY other things) can be found at Dollar General (more expensive) and at Dollar tree ( a lot less expensive) is called Awesome cleaner, And,... it truly is well,...Awesome! It does a great job on tires. It cleans most everything with minimal to no scrubbing. I have found you want to rinse it off before it dries though. Also, one thing it isn't, is a degreaser. So, keep that in mind. I have a big rock crawler Jeep, and it does a great job cleaning the 43" tires on it. Love your channel!

I did an update on this one, if you live in an area where there's really fine dust blowing in the air it sticks to the the truck and is hard to get off. Just depends on where you live I guess.
First time viewer here. Liked the episode. hit many buttons for me. As for the brakes issue: As you were disassembling the brakes and pulling out the wire brush my first thought was " wow. that is stingy. my time is worth just replacing them and moving on." That being said. I don't think you needed to apologize for the obvious. The reason is in the very name of your show. Sub'd, foller'd, & notified!

I think the brake caliper rebuild went fine the way you did it. I used to do the same. Rebuild brake kits only. When I go lazy and bought a rebuilt caliper I was really disappointed with the condition of the caliper. It did not fit because it was rusted and worn, but the rebuilder, rebuilt them anyway. I should have gone with the rebuild kit. But it does take longer and time is money.
This guy is cool. I’m going to subscribe. I’m a huge fan of Puddin’s Fab Shop and Mortske Repair, so I’ll add him.
Take a top batt post cleaner power off and lightly twist the end into the socket to clean it up add dab of. GREASE TO KEEP WATER OUT
lol, I didn´t even realize that u met vice grip garage, I love watching his videos! I stumbled across your videos while I was searching for old diesel engine cold starts 🤣 Starting with the 1952 Kenworth pacific bus that was parked in that spot in 2003. Liked it pretty much since those busses literally don´t drive here in Germany and are very well designed 🤣 I also like most of the old American cars especially the classic pickups! I make sure to leave you a follow and keep watching ✌ Is there a reason you made a hole in the wd40 can? I rly want to know!
I've never washed one of my cars on the outside. I keep the inside clean though. I seen the second part to this first and wondered if it was vice grip shine juice you were talking about.
Спасибо за видео! очень круто!
Penetrol works great too
Thumbs up.
Late 70s I worked in a Sears garage where we used to rebuild calipers If the pistons had any sign of corrosion we would replace the calipers Later tried to clean up and reuse pistons on a motorcycle They stuck immediately
Good old NM sun damage on that fender flair
You can get the same result with a red Scotch-Brite pad and Pam cooking spray
Lol, I just noticed the BMW badge on the glove box for the first time! Has it been there all the way through?
I been doing something similar for years with just plain engine oil don’t last long though but great if your selling
