DIY COE, Scrap Parts Used To Make A Cab Over Engine. With Tracks.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I've finally got a direction to go with my next half-track build. I take my WWII M15A1 chassis, and put a pickup body on it, It doesn't fit, so I turn it into a COE configuration, where the cab goes over the engine.

Started watching this while I was eating breakfast because I needed something entertaining before I go out and crawl back under my 95 Nissan 4 x 4 project. It’s been a pain in the ass with pre-bent exhaust that didn’t lineup, a brand new water pump that once installed the clutch fan no longer fits. Having to remove the front differential just to take the engine out because it had an oil leak on the rear of the oil pan. You can’t remove the oil pan because of the axle, you can’t remove the front differential because the oil pans in the way. One of the front crossmembers that hold the differential in can’t be removed straight down (which any normal, same person would do) because they installed the bolts at the factory, then bolt of the lower control arm on over them and on and on. 🤬 Yeah, several things got cut in order to make the removal Easier. I chuckled several times during this video. Thanks that’s what I needed. now back out to work on Sir costsalot

5:59 My understanding is those HF shit stands were safer with a heavy load on them than when they were lightly loaded, that someone working on a Miata was more likely to have them fail than someone working on...say, the nose end a half track. The issue was in the pawl design where you could bump it off of the ratchet in there with a load on it, which isn't as likely to happen with a heavier load. I still wouldn't use them myself, but this isn't the worst time for them.

@@LowBuckGarage Keeping with a the theme of "being stubby", a shortened rollback bed would be killer. You would be able to load the Jeep easily if it were to break down and still have the capacity to carry what ever you wanted to.

If you clamp a piece of copper behind where you want to weld, it will act as a stiffener, draw some of the heat out, and the weld won't stick to it. This is an old body shop technique.
