    I agree I've only kept discus a year now. But not chasing the pH is the best thing you can do. You only have to worry about the pH when you're breeding. Just keep a regular water change schedule based on the number of fish you have. Thanks! Glad to see more people discussing discus.

    Have you tried a hang on back planter with a pathos plant in it? If you give it enough light it is known to suck up nitrates like crazy. And it doesn’t look to bad as a house plant. Do to the plant being out of the water it tends to grow faster than aquarium plants, which in turn suck up more nitrates.

    Great video. I have learned from keeping reef tanks and corals that parameters are important but stability is more important. You may want to look into auto water making small daily water changes to keep your system stable with that large bio load. Also, plants are hard to grow in 85 degrees temp. 82 degrees will provide you more success with that. Discus diets are another thing that should be accounted for. Give them variety.

    When you put your fish into quarantine, do you use any medications to treat for diseases or infections? Or do you only treat for that stuff if you see anything start to appear while they’re in the quarantine tank for a couple weeks.

    Stability and Prime safe for 15 new 5. Inch Discus added to a fish in cycled ( used Tetras) 180 gallon. Too expensive to guess here. Thanks

    Absolutely! Keep an eye on your ammonia levels though. 1 dose of Prime will detoxify 1ppm of ammonia. 2 for 2, and so on...

    So the fish stay healthy by adding prime and stability which adds bacteria into the water and when we change the water, is why we need to add more back in? Im just clearing this up in my head thinking...how does the "upped" bacteria stay in the tank after we stop using stability? It's not like we need to add something else in the tank for more bacteria to grow on to help with ammonia right?

  • @KaveManAquatics

    @KaveManAquatics

    Stability helps boost their production. Once they are “produced” and established they stay in the tank (unless you kill them off) they also don’t live in the water. That’s why you can water change and it won’t effect them…(again, unless you kill them off)
