Chen Liu nice watch I’m trying to get my hands on Jaeger LeCoultre Ultra Slim Moon.have Atmos clock at home with original box and certification since I was born 1981 still running perfect and mint shape, good choice of watches and not to forget history of JLC when it comes to movements they provided them to Patek Philipe and Vacheron Constatin. Besides I’m Breitling fan and collector and JLC comes next to my Heart.

They are not called the watchmaker of watchmakers because they are just good at making watches, but because they crafted movements for all three of the holy trinity watchbrands (PP, VC, AP), which is just insane. Otherwise ALS would easily take that title as well

Well done Mr Porter team, you've chosen wise to align your branding and image with the right partner. JLC, you might not be the loudest lights flashing in horology but the collectors who love you for that will always be supporting your legacy. Congratulations on this year's Polaris reissue launch, it is a step in the right direction but do try to keep things below 40mm if possible for future pieces.

Smart-watches have found their niche. They sit comfortably in the fashion watch category. Those willing to pay three hundred to one thousand dollars for a watch will look hard at a smart watch. Then it becomes a possible gateway drug to mechanical watches. I have a couple electronic watches that have their place, but not daily wear.

Switzerland can be broadly split into 3 areas by language - Swiss-German, Swiss-French and Swiss-Italian. JLC are in the French area so the name is pronounced the French way, the same spelling for someone in the German sector would be pronounced the German way.. The Swiss are very multi lingual so I think using the 'wrong' pronounciation would elicit little more than a shrug.

These are expensive art-pieces *to show status* and only that. Calling these watches time-piece and trying to make them keep better time is an exercise in futility. Just use gold and diamonds and remove all the inside mechanisms. You can tell time using your phone. A $10 quartz watch keeps better time than the most expensive mechanical watch.

Mechanical watches ARE NOT innovative. University engineering students can build them and find new materials and methods to replace old ones. Deciding to use silicon as a hairspring and testing it is NOT hard or innovative compared to what's happening in other industries. However, they are valuable because the market says they are. The reason for this is partly because of their perceived longevity which is partially because of the very qualities that make them anachronisms in our modern silicon dominated world.

Fred Hal Innovating make changes in something established, especially by introducing new methods, ideas, or products. I'm sorry but you can't chose what's innovative. Furthermore just because greater leaps have occurred in other fields doesn't take away the innovation. Does it really take away something because university students could do it?
