Poor Gracie was so overwhelmed. Glad Julia or anyone else wasn’t seriously hurt. Sometimes it’s ok to just pay your pony and say it’s too much and finish for the day
I’m so proud of Julia for giving it her all.. I’m flabbergasted by how poorly this horse show was planned out. Who on EARTH thought it would be a good idea to have very loud races right next to the arena where HORSES were being shown! I have had some crazy experiences at shows, but never anything that bad that I can recall. I was at an APHA (American Paint Horse Association) sanctioned show at our State’s fair once that I had paid hundreds of dollars in entry fees for… a kooky lady right next to the ring had an umbrella, it was an indoor arena lol and wasn’t raining ANYWAY so no need for a darn umbrella. She kept pooping it open as riders went by, multiple people were unseated, and one young woman broke her arm, they halted the class and finally ejected her from the fair grounds..
Julia you did the very best you could possibly do. I am sorry for the problems. Gracie might have been wrong for you from the beginning. She was taken out of "mothballs" and asked to do the impossible and unknown. 🥰
I'm glad Julia is ok! Jenn, you are braver then I am as I think I would have pulled Julia and Gracie out of the classes considering all that was happening. She's a trooper for sure! Poor Gracie!😮💨
Julia is to tall for Gracie why can’t she ride Stevie instead?

Julia has a natural ability and has a good foundation. She really deserves a better mount to advance and become competitive, if that is where she wants to go. She seems to just really enjoy riding! Such a good attitude! She always remember Gracie, the typical "pony"! Blessings
Wow Julia--you were so good. The way you handled yourself & Gracie while Gracie was acting up were really impressive. Kate you & Stevie looked good. Since we can't tell from watching a video how other people did it wasn't possible to make comparisons. Your riding is really consistently calm, graceful & correct. I love watching you. There are riders who don't look that good but who bring the best out in a horse & there are riders who look absolutely perfect but can't really manage their horse very well. You achieve both.
id recommend ear plugs to mute most of the noise
No wonder the horse wouldn’t go this child is way to big for the horse the pony looks incredibly uncomfortable
Julia deserves a whole lot of credit for sticking with Gracie as well as she did. I would give her first place for determination and not giving up. Poor Gracie just was to spooked by everything bless her.
Your girls did so well under the circumstances. I hope Julia is ok now, bless her she and Gracie certainly had a time of it. I love Julia's attitude, determined but also just going with the flow. The fist pump for 4th place was so funny. I hope she knows how well she did. (I always told my students and their parents that a new hat must be bought after a fall with a head impact. Most were ok with it, some you just knew they wouldn't which I just don't get) We now know Gracie does not do fairs. Once I fell off, got a concussion, bought a new hat, then dropped it on the floor at the next show. Bit of a nightmare. Kate did amazing with Stevie and Violet. She always looks out for Julia. In fact all 4 girls are lovely to watch the way they interact, have fun and help each other. After that essay, I just wanted to say you are a wonderful family and your girls are a credit to you.
I sorry you fall off Gracie, hope you ok ,you handle well . The motor where making a noise a lot was making horse spook especially the the flags and tent.❤❤❤
your fairs are like our agricultural shows noisy and busy you did well julia and kate make sure you get julia checked out if her back and head hurt
This is typical fair environment. Horses get quickly desensitized or blow a gasket. Lol. Lots of prep and practice is key to being successful. I showed fairs for years and my horses became pros very quickly. It’s not for all horses.
Hopefully the Fair will change things around cause someone could have gotten seriously hurt
I am in my 60's but remember my first show so well. I was probably 12 and had a pony whose mission in life was to kill me :). I went to a show that I had no business going to - very high end barn. I was on my pony with a borrowed saddle and breeches that did not fit quite right. Thankfully my pony did not kill me that day...but did an excellent job of being well, a pony!!! You girls did a wonderful job considering the circumstances,. Some shoes go our way and others are well...a learning experience :) You have this one in the rear view mirror and I have no doubt that there are blue ribbons in the future!!

Red ribbons are first place in Canada, which is where they are.😊
Something that struck me was if Gracie used to barrel race, the atmosphere/noise at rodeos is pretty much the same as at the fair which would further explain why she was so much on her toes as well as her Rentensystem to try and turn Julia close round the cones 😂 Julia did a great job with her and it was good for you to point out the need for a new helmet after a head impact. That’s great advice. Glad Julia is ok after her fall. We all fall at some point. Xxxx😊

Thanks 😊. If that advice helps even one person, it’s worth it. It is absolutely essential that helmets get replaced after a head impact, even if it wasn’t that hard. We were advised of this at the hospital when Kate had her first fall years ago. I was happy they told us this time at the hospital as well, because it means more awareness is being spread. They were very happy when we said we were aware and were already planning on it. I think a lot of people don’t realize how important it is to replace it for continued safety.
I’m glad Julia is feeling okay. I think it was all a bit much for Gracie. Very good advice about replacing your riding hat xx
im glad the judge was also helping her
Luv this. Found it from DayByDay. Now I'm really curious what this motor racing was? Good at managing Gracie with all that commotion.

Welcome! Thanks for popping over here, we hope you stay 🥰. Apparently, it was modified riding lawnmower races (so they turn them into little go-karts/ 4-wheelers with bigger motors that are LOUD). It wasn’t the best spot for it, but hindsight is 20/20. They worked hard at the fair to run it and I think it was just an accidental oversight. They were trying their best.
Sorry you fell off. But you did well. Big class too doesn't help. Julia don't beat yourself up. Just need more time in lots of chaos. Jen get some recordings of fairs, tractors, and motors and place them around the farm. On quiet or windy days. It will help. Great job guys. ❤🎉
I addmer Julia for trying SO hard and trying something now. And good luck to the girl's and all the best.
Julia is a trooper! Bless her heart & Gracies, too. No horse likes harsh winds, flags & tents flapping loud & motors revving up directly beside them. They had a lousy. planner for the fair. I'm glad Julia is alright. She handled a frightened little pony like a champion. Gracie is not a violent girl, she was just scared. Kate did really well too
gabby walking both of her horses in the arena is funny to me lol
THOSE POOR HORSES NEEDED HORSE EAR PLUGS, AT LEAST. HORSES CAN REALLY LOSE THEIR MINDS WITH WIND BY ITSELF BUT ADD A MIDWAY AND LAWNMOWER RACES, HEAVEN HELP EVERYBODY!!! I LOVE JULIAS DETERMINATION BUT WATCHING GRACIE'S BEHAVIOR AS THE DAY WENT WAS DISHEARTENING. A FEW TIMES SHE SHOOK HER NECK, WHICH WAS A TRUE SIGN OF STRESS AND TRYING TO SHAKE HER MIND OUT OF IT. AS RIDERS WE ASK ALOT FROM OUR HORSES AND LITTLE GRACIE WHO IS A VERY GAME LITTLE PONY, WAS HAVING A REALLY BAD DAY. WHEN OUR HORSES ARE HAVING A BAD DAY, BETTER TO PUT THEM UP AND SHOW RESPECT FOR THEIR TRY. NOW VIOLET THAT LITTLE FJORD😁, SHE SURE HAS AN AMAZING DISPOSITION. PLEASE ANY NEW EVENTS YOU WANT TO ENTER, TAKE THE TIME GET ON GOOGLE SEE WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR A CLASS OR AN EVENT. WITH SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE AT OUR FINGER TIPS. HAVING FUN IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT AS LONG AS OUR HORSES ARE ENJOYING OR AT LEAST NOT STRESSED OUT. Susan

That was all just too much for Gracie to handle. She was stressed out, and pretty much shut down. Nothing deliberate, of course, but she was overwhelmed. It would have been best to pull out out of the rest of the classes. Kudos to Julia for not giving up. She is one tenacious young lady!!! Thank goodness she didn’t get hurt, as that was my fear as soon as I saw Gracie’s discomfort in the first class. Again, kudos to Julia!!❤❤
Good Evening Jenn Scott Kate Julia. And Laura Sam Gabby Sophie. Hey Julia I thought you did good with Grace. Every she was behaving well And congrats on your wins and Kate you did wicked awesome with Stevie. And she was so awesome too. And congrats on your wins. And Sophie you did wicked awesome with Storm. Especially in your Weston classes And congrats to you on your wins with Storm too. All my 💕🥰❤️🤗💖❤️ to all.

Thank you so much!
If Julia had a headache after her fall on possibly head back of neck please please please go check her out for concussion, fairs are not as much serious on this than rated shows but I had a bad fall at one show and the group around me wanted me to get checked before going back on the horse.

Oh so sorry I did not see the note at the end of video , all good then thank you so much for taking this seriously
Funny to see how gracie is cantering much faster than the big horses 😅 Probably the environment caused this disaster, but maybe she has a problem with something like the saddle, although i think it was most the sound. But even with all this your girls have fun, and that's the most important thing.😊
I am so proud of how brave Julia did with Gracie especially considering that she doesn’t get to do a lot of prep. Julia won with championship her bravery.
Gracie was scared. It's ok though. Fairs are challenging. Your husband always looks angry.
If you're buying a new helmet, don't buy the same, better another brand like kask, kep italia, charles owen, samshield or many other international brands. 😊
Yup when I fell back in 07 I was lucky my helmet saved my life leaving me with 12 staples back of my head and a messed up helmet

Omg, that’s absolutely terrifying. Thank goodness you had a helmet on. I can’t imagine how difficult of a recovery that must have been for you. That’s what always worries me about riders not wearing helmets… no matter how skilled of a rider or a horse, it takes a split second for something to happen and it could mean the difference between surviving a head impact or not. Thank you for sharing your story because it might save a life.

I know wearing helmets can sometimes be an unpopular opinion in the equestrian community, but your story is like so many others, and if you hadn’t been wearing it that day, the outcome may have been very different. I think it is great that you are willing to share your story of trauma in order to spread awareness and help save someone else’s life. I don’t blame you for not riding anymore, but that is not something you should ever feel bad about. Remember, you don’t need to ride to still be apart of the equestrian community or to share your love of horses. You still belong, and I hope watching our videos and others like ours helps you to remember that. ❤️
Gracie looked like she was in fast motion, her little legs were moving. Julia did a great job,as did Kate.
Not so long ago all that craziness from her horse would’ve really freaked Julia out. Her confidence in herself has come such a long way! Part of what makes horse shows challenging is the unpredictability of the environment. That was an especially unusual environment with the midway and all anyway, then add in the wind and everything flapping around and frankly I think they all did really well considering. I’ve ridden plenty of horses that would have been way worse in that environment.

Yes, they’ve done so well together and Gracie has really boosted her confidence over the last several months of riding together. It was unfortunate that this was likely their last show together but they had such a wonderful season of riding. Julia and Gracie loved riding together.
