Dylan Moran has a way of using phrases that make sense but nobody would ever say and in them is pure comic genius like "Why can't you be backlit like him!?" or "You only know there's food because one of the drinks is chewy" and i don't know anyone else who does this so incredibly well

It's a kind of play on what's said in Ireland. If you hear an Irish person say "the neck of ya" or "some neck you've got" it's meant to be bold or brazen. Essentially a bit like when you hear an English person say someone's cheeky but with an added extra. It's why anyone who fraudulently wins an insurance claim has "a brass neck." I don't know if I've helped or not but I hope I have.

"As a child, you eat a cake and convert it into extra miles to run. You've been around for a while, and now you convert it into extra pallbearers." this is so good. A perfect punchline. You'd probably expect something like "sleep" or "weight" or "fewer years to live", but Dylan puts it into one word. That is comedic genius.

sooo missed him - thank you for this! You need to know him to know the importance of cakes :D. Also - Brian Cox - wonderful take :); I never know what that man says because of the way he speaks and in that sense I don't understand his popularity, but I'm happy for it. We need more people interested in learning about the world based on actual facts.

Try it with the subtitles on. I gave them a go for you and they're pretty accurate. Lol.

Ah. Just reread what you wrote. Were you quoting Brian Cox or were you saying you yourself didn't understand him?

@@nikiTricoteuse yes I was referring to the fact that I have a hard time understanding what Dr. Cox says because of the way he speaks 😉

@@leahtigers771 Thanks. TBH I'd never heard of Brian Cox until l saw this - I'm in Aotearoa so l do have some excuse. 😁 lnterestingly he has tour dates booked here for early next year. Will definitely try and track down some of his videos in the meantime though as, it sounds like he talks on subjects I'd be interested in. Also, nothing wrong with a bit of eye candy.

@@leahtigers771 Just watched a Jonathan Ross interview with him and l think l see what you mean. I also found him quite hard to understand. I was expecting a strong accent or something but, he seems to talk quietly and quite quickly and doesn't project his voice very well. Don't know if it was just because he was sitting being interviewed. Funny interview though.

Dylan Moran is a guy who, no matter how messy his hair is, it looks right on him.
