Hi Paul, Welcome back. I've been following all your videos for the last 2 months and I am a big admirer of your work. My story is not one that is going to change your life. But your story has certainly changed mine. I grew up kind of like you sailing since I was a kid, so I know what you are feeling when you tell your stories. It's like I'm there with you and my brother. So, back to changing my life you have encouraged me to quit giving up on my dreams of sailing. At almost 66 yrs old, I am using my background as a boat builder to design my own 5.20 M dingy cruiser. SO, thank you so much and congratulations on your 1 million viewers. @@SailingKateLouise I've been putting in 2-3 hours a day on this and love it... well... I think it might be a bit of an effort on the push and draw, and I may upgrade majorly in the near future. But if I may recommend a great tune, that I've played for many years on fiddle and found it works perfectly on concertina: "The Orange in Bloom (the Sherborne Waltz)"! It's a classic morris waltz, and it's super easy on the Wren (all middle row) and sounds great!

Yes they are great . It's a shame I couldn't get any Lyre bird sounds as they are incredible. They mimic other bird calls and one sounds like a machine gun or video game. But they are very shy, so you don't see them very often and they are the size of a chicken. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul

Those Sailboats are for differently abled sailors and are a class used in the Paralympics. They are a scaled down 12 metre America's Cup Yacht built to a 2.4 metre rule. Once upon a time there were a couple of rental fleets around Perth and they were a lot of fun for even a novice sailor.

I used to train disabled dailors in my former club in Denmark in 2.4 meter yachts. When not assisting I used to take a ride myself. I use to say the sail like driving bumper cars. They just can cope with anything 🙂

Hi Phiillip yes the Anglo Concertina is great fun and one day I will master it. I ve never played and instrument before , but I'm enjoying the journey. It's actually a Wren made by Mcneely and Co in Ireland.. Its their beginner model, they sell many all around the world, but I got mine from someone(in NSW) who bought it from Ireland but lost interest. Many youtube videos on Mcneely Concertinas but they hit the sales pretty hard. Thanks for watching and have a great Christmas , cheers Paul

  • @SailingKateLouise

Hi there is a neat canvas hatch cover overhead that clips on and also a vertical a veritcal one that also clips on with a built in window with mozzie net. So you can close off the cabin from the weather is necessary but in Australia that can get quite hot in summer. I tend to put the boom tent up as that offers more shade and if raining more space in the cockpit for cooking etc. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul

Well done with the Concertina. I've played Melodeon since the early 1970's so I share your pain. It just takes time, lots of time and practice every day. Especially when you are beginning. I used to reckon it takes 2 days to loose what you learned today if you don't practice it the following day. Keep the bellows as closed as you can. If you extend the bellows too far you loose the accuracy when you change bellows direction. The air button is your friend. You can prove this to yourself. Try playing a scale fairly quickly with the bellows as closed as you can, and then try it with the bellows extended more than half way out. All that bellows waggling around reduces your control. Good luck with it - check out kzread.info/dash/bejne/inyA18l9ZabPeLw.html. Best wishes ..Dave

Concertina is fine! And it suits the peaceful nautical surroundings. I have an antique banjo-mandolin that can do permanent eardrum damage with prolonged exposure. It's only useful for clearing out party guests at the end of the night.
