0:22 no, this is not from a talent show, but a singing competition for professional singers, only, where they invited Dimash as a wild card. He was the youngest to ever take part in the competition, 22 years old in 2017. The audience is made up of 500 musical influencers and were instructed to give him a warm welcome the first time he performed with SOS, starting the whole show that year. Through out the competition the audience and other competitors were very loving and supportive to Dimash. Please, always watch the videos to the very end. Here you missed the part where they tell, that his father flue there to surprise him, but didn`t want for him to know he was there before the performance so he wouldn`t feel extra pressure. His father is a singer/song writer and producer, his mother is an opera singer. Dimash came second that year. Yes, hard to believe, but he wasn`t Chinese, so.. After that they changed the rules and Jessie J won the next year.

👍👍👏👏🌷🌷💕💕 Singer wasn’t just a talent show. It was a singing contest designed for established award-winning Chinese singers. Dimash was invited as a wild card since he was almost totally unknown in China. SOS was his first episode performance, following which he not only acquired 2.4 million followers on Weibo literally overnight, but was suddenly flooded with offers. His father was indeed a singer, and worked at the time with the ministry of culture in Kazakhstan. Dimash was then 22, and overwhelmed by this turn in his career. His father requested a leave, and tried to get on the next available flight to Changsha. So at the time of the recording, he wasn’t aware that his father had just arrived from the airport. We can see his father overjoyed by the crowd reaction to his son’s performance, pumping his fist in the air, smiling ear to ear… when the audience went wild. For back in Kazakhstan, the Soviet atmosphere still prevailed and people would just clap quietly. Some established musical figures/ singers would even criticize Dimash, telling him to cut showing off, etc and just sing normally. After the point where you stopped the video, we see father and son walking out and Dimash asking his father, Did I sing well? Did I? Eventually Dimash came second in the show, which caused a lot of controversy at the time. But he stated that he already won in the sense that he acquired millions of fans, dozens of contract, many awards, etc and a runaway fame. Thank you for the reaction! ❤👍

It's a pleasure watching your Dimash reactions, you pause just enough to make some comments but not too much that we loose the flow of the song. Dimash has lots of songs where he doesn't use the "vocal pyrotechnics" revealing a silky smooth mid range that would still put him in the top amongst pop singers. His song If I Never Breathe Again is a perfect example of this. As this was a competition in a foreign country he had to go all out and give it everything he had, in fact as the youngest competitor in the history of the show and the only one who wasn't an already established artist he had a lot to prove, he didn't win but came in a very close second with the narrowest of gaps between him and the winner. It's a shame you didn't watch to the end as you would have seen how even Dimash has his insecurities and asked his father twice if he'd sung well.

Opera 2 was the very first song I heard sung by Dimash. I listened to the original by Vitas, and I was very impressed. Then I saw that there was a younger artist who also sang it and I wondered who else can sing this song. Then I heard something that I didn't think was possible. It was similar to falsetto but at the same time it was so rich and warm. It was hard to believe that it was a young man who could have such a beautiful and strong falsetto. I had to repeat it again and again and since that day, five years ago, Dimash has been my daily medicine

Thank you so much for reacting to this version with his father in the audience but it's too bad you didn't see it to the end😢. Oper2 was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017 in China. The song is in Russian. A language he speaks fluently. The original was from the famous Russian singer named Vitas. I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 20 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. Indescribably beautiful and emotional. During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰. I love this video because he still seemed so innocent. Just a boy and he didn't seem as serious as he sometimes is these days. He still looked carefree. I think what's happening today in the world worries him a lot. I also recommend Adagio, the 6th performance, from The Singer competition and he also plays the piano there. A really beautiful song❤️. A song that Lara Fabian (a Belgian-Canadian singer) has already sung and also written the lyrics for. Dimash has always been a great admirer of Lara. But Dimash takes this song to another level. Every time, I see this performance I forget to breathe and then burst into tears. The emotions that Dimash sends out with this performance literally hit me physically every time🤯. And you can see that I’m not the only one. It speaks for itself that this performance leads to such emotions as that of this woman from the jury and even makes jury members cry. I love his outfit with his blue suit and white shoes. If you watch several videos of him, you will see that he often falls on his knees during many of his performances. So a Dear gave him knee pads as a gift. I don’t think he wore them on stage though. Although he has certainly gotten one or two bruises😂. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lWSGo7OyqZOef9Y.html What I love about the Chinese competitors is that they don’t behave like competitors. Everyone wishes everyone luck. Everyone watches the other’s performance. Clap, sing along. In my opinion, no one begrudges the success of another. They might not have taken Dimash seriously at first, but that quickly changed after SOS (his first performance on this show). Through ist honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today. You may want to see, or even react to videos that were filmed behind the scenes of the competition. They are very interesting if you want to get to know Dimash from a different, more private side. And they’re pretty funny as he doesn’t take himself too seriously and he’s always joking. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lWSGo7OyqZOef9Y.html Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

WHERE DO I BEGIN… Lets start on the vocal capability and range. So Dimash has understood the art of muscle coordination in the phonation area of the voice. He is a Tenor (meaning his voice tends more toward the middle and top of the voice vs the bottom like say a Baritone) so with that explaination he has a natural advantage to sing high and easy up to probably Bb4/C#5 or anything like that, basically opera tenor high notes, meaning he could of just strengthen this area and become a really good opera tenor. NOW this is what makes Dimash fasinating to analyze. He can sing from a strong E2 - C6 in his full voice. Of course the sound coming out is different as he goes higher and higher but not only can he do this but he can sing dynamically in these places. Meaning he has muscle coordination in his lowest notes and highest notes. WHICH IS UNHEARD OF, but more then this, his production of his sounds aka his Dynamics range to the extremes of the human voice. He can sing airy (which is not special) but he knows how to sing so lightly in his phonation he can engage the cords with little to no pressure in anywhere of that range, that is just as light as breathing (which is how one is suppose to sing) now he can go to the extremes in strength all the way to the intensity, size and body of the most iconic Opera singers (saddly most opera singer dont know how to produce freedom in a note that loud so they push and it ruins the sound coming out). NOW LASTLY…. his falsetto! I would LOVE to hear him sing some of Handel’s more strenuous castrato roles. I think if he could learn the language and the style, people at the Metropolitan Opera would go ape shit over him. I would. I haven’t heard a vocal talent like that since Joan Sutherland. So to recap. Dimash has a vocal range in full voice of E2 - C6, in falsetto from C4 - D8 and he can sing dynamically at the extremes of human sound from breath, and breath like cord abduction to the strongest, most intense sound the human voice can create. Lastly, he can control all of this. Which was or is the best singer who ever lived, in terms of technique, vocal range and power? I’d say Dimash. He’s literally called best singer in the world by vocal coaches and he also has the biggest range ever with almost 7 octaves (E1) - F#1 - A1 - C6 - F#6- D8), and he’s i.a. a trained bel canto singer, which is the most powerful singing technique there is (most volume, most resonance, most overtones etc) I’m 83 years old and have of course heard lots of singers in my lifetime. I can say without reservation that he has the most versatile, wide-range voice I have ever heard. He also is very emotional and dramatic in his music interpretations which makes his performance all the more interesting.

bullshit. his full voice range is F2 to B4 at best. after that, everything up to F6 is falsetto, past that everything he produces are whistle notes. his low notes are quite weak too. he doesn't sing bel canto. his technique is much more of a mix of classical and pop. His technique and voice is incredible, but let's not make claims that simply are not true.

I would finish the video. Dimash had been in China at that point on his own (just a KZ translator) without family. Dimash's father secretly flew there to support him and stayed hidden until that moment you saw the surprise on his face after finishing the song. When heading back stage you'll see Dimash ask his father "did I do well? And also state he was homesick" I absolutely love his relationship with his family. He was 22 yrs old here and will turn 29 this May. But yes while growing up still quite young to have done all he has. I love seeing you doing more Dimash and going "back in time" its great to see these again. ❤❤❤❤❤

It's not a talent show but a reality show where invited vocalists compete in a friendly manner. The chosen professional vocalists are all at the top of their game. Dimash was the youngest ever to be on Singer in 2017 at age 22. He was invited as a wildcard, being the only one without Chinese heritage. He was only expecting to reach week 3, but he made it to the final. He really wanted to show his countries music and culture, which he did beautifully when he sang Daididau on yes, week 3. Unfortunately, as he was the only foreigner despite becoming a huge star in China because of his appearance on this show, and he was vert young, he didn't win. He came an extremely close second. After this, the rules were changed, which allowed Jessie Jay from the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 win the following season in 2018. Dimash was invited back to perform as a guest on this show every year since his win. Only Covid stopped him going on the last ever show in 2020. This show, when shown on KZread, made him the worldwide sensation that he is today. Right now, he is living in LA to expand his career path and has been working with many top show business people such as Walter Afanasiev and David Foster, to name just two. He is also in the process of his new world tour, Stranger, starting it off with a magnificent stadium show in Almaty Kazakhstan. Might I suggest you react to his newest self composed song, El Amor en Ti, it's on his official KZread channel as well as the total masterpiece, The Story of One Sky music video which he composed, wrote the screenplay for his idea for the video, wrote the script and worked very closely with the director. It was nominated for an award in a London Film Festival. Soin to be Doctor Dimash PhD is on top form at the moment ❤ kzread.info/dash/bejne/fmuEr65yhcaxp6g.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y4SnzNmsaZqsn6Q.html Also you might find interesting this video of 13/14 year old Dimash singing the Story of Kebek Batyr, he had only been singing for 10 years here 😂 kzread.info/dash/bejne/kWWGj61tpK3Lo7w.html

Not opera… kidding… is the wind 🤣 That was the second song in the competition "Singer 2017". The organizers of the competition asked Dimash to sing this "simple song”. The song is about a guy who built a house and now lives all alone and sad in it ...listening to the howling of the wind outside ... This song belongs to the Ukrainian- Russian vocal clown Vitas. However, they forgot to ask Vitas. The people who hold the rights sued Chinese TV... unfortunately too late. The Chinese had already put it online and so it is on the Internet forever. Vitas (Vitaly Vladasovich Grachev, *1979 Latvian SSR is a Ukrainian- Russian pop singer who mainly sings in Russian. He is also a composer, actor and fashion designer. He claimed that by the age of 12 he had composed at least 1,000 songs.🤣 * Original video: Vitas - Opera #2 - kzread.info/dash/bejne/amGlvKZviKu8c6Q.html (on KZread videos all performances by Vitas are electronically edited) You should watch the full version with nice scenes at the end, feel free to join us, your viewers. The Dears can't get enough of Dimash: At the last moment Dimash saw his father in front of the stage. Dimash was alone in China for a long time and was very homesick... His father's surprise came at just the right time.: kzread.info/dash/bejne/moSep7eogMqTkco.html (subtitle) * Dimash sings Opera 2 in a funny TV show (2015 or 2016) (subtitle) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/oYassaukqq2vmdo.html That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door. “Opera #2” was the 2. song in the competition. The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to KZread ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won). Thank you Dears for helping to complete the comment.

You mentioned the orchestra. This singing competition is far and above any in the US. Full orchestra, backup singers, lighting and each singer had a “partner” accompanying them. Dimash had an interpreter with him at all times. He didn’t speak any Chinese. You can see, Dimash’s support was right there off the stage. That was the case with everyone. A very popular Chinese singer, Sandy Lam, won first place. They didn’t win anything except exposure to millions of people. The other singers were professional singers. Dimash, of course, was not. Over night, after he sang SOS, his life changed. He was the first to sing in the first round. He won that round. He was over the moon! He won a few more rounds. They thought he would be there for just a few rounds…he stayed to the end. I came upon him on KZread. He sang Adagio and I wondered who he was. I’ve been watching him since then, 2017. In my long life, I’ve never heard anyone like him. I’m very happy I’m here to witness this young man. Bev

Yes, Dimash’s Dad and his Mom are very famous singers in Kazakhstan and his Dad is also a renowned Music Producer in Europe/Asia. His Mom sings Opera and his Dad sings Pop. He actually sings like both of them, (but better)! You should react to Dimash singing with his Mom and Dad. Also he has sung with his younger sister (now 21), she is a great singer too, but she decided to study medicine rather than music. Dimash’s young brother (16 years old) is a multi-instrumentalist and just composed Dimash’s latest song called Together and the MV has just been released. Dimash’s brother and sister are both in the video. It’s an amazing song!

Yep 22yrs old. Invited to take part against other well established proffessionals. 1st time away from home, no English, no Chinese. Hence dad being there was a lovely surprise for him. He already has a well established reputation in his own sphere of music at this point, having won lots n lots of competitions and had been invited to be on a judges panel. He just was not much known beyond his own country Russia n other nearby countries. No he cudnt win, foreigners were not allowed. He came 2nd. They changed the rule the following year. The gift from this competition, was that the Chinese sooo loved him as a person and recognised his hugh talent, and spread the word of him world wide. They still to this day revere him, and travel to all his concerts wherever they are held in the world. In regard of your closing comments - here he was given the songs he had to sing, and the language he had to use. So he sang in Chinese and English for the very 1st time. He was already composing music and writing lyrics. Eg he composed at 17 yes old the music for war and peace. There is s vid on utube of him singing it. And ofcourse his voice matured as he got older, and he never stoos his training of his voice where ever he is or whatever he is doing. Not sure if u knew all that from what u were saying.

There are many songs where Dimash does not utilize his range. They are full of emotion. I look forward to you reacting to the video of The Story of One Sky. I love your singing voice and especially loved The Prayer duet, along with a few other songs. 🎵❤️ Dimash's parents are both singers. You can search on KZread him singing with them, a beautiful song.

I really enjoy your reactions to Dimash! This song was introduced by a singer named Vitas..who can also brush past the stars with his voice. He cannot, however, excel beyond Dimash, whose voice flutters quite effortless about the galaxy He didn't know his Dad was going to be there that night. Yes his Dad is a singer as well, also a music producer. This was I AM Singer 2017 in China. Dimash was supposed to be just a kind of 'filler' who would make a few appearances and then leave. LOL! His poor fellow contestants didn't stand a chance, though very talented indeed! In the video of the show, as they walk down the hall Dimash keeps asking his Dad if he "Did OKAY" Ha.

Hola Kevin. No te vas a arrepentir. Pura vida 🇨🇷❤️🇰🇿

Great reaction, like always. It's one of his more playful performances. Lots of his early songs are presented quite seriously or with much gravitas, at least that was my impression, not a lot of smiling/winking, playing around. So, in that regard, Opera 2 will always be special.

Be gentle?😆 # 1st Soooo... you stopped this one just a little early. As most Dears will explain, aside from his mind blowing vocals, the most touching thing here was his reunion with his father who had flown in unannounced, to be there. Yes, Dimash was around 23 here and hadn't expected to be in China for as long as he was as he made his way ever higher through the competition. I think in the end he was away from his family - whom he is very close to - for something like 3-4+ months, and he was quite homesick. His parents are both well known singers in Kazakhstan and have busy careers in the fields of Arts and Culture. As they go back stage you can see Dimash ask his father - twice - 'Did I sing well?" 😵‍💫 # 2nd No, don't wait to see the Under One Sky Mini-Movie { not music video} . View it ASAP. In this instance the Soundtrack and Dimash's vocals; astounding as they are, come Second - are ALL Tailored in support of the visuals and that's why it's a rare eg. of the Live version being far different to the original. # No, he DIDN'T Win the 2017 Singer competition, and quite a few million Chinese Dears, who fell completely in love with 'their little Kazakh Brother, right from the first few notes of his first performance of SOS are STILL Raging Mad about that decision! { But that's a whole other story!} 😊

His parents and singing and music teachers noticed he had perfect pitched prior to the age of 5.

Great job Ken Money Grip! Luv your analysis; I learn so much....... Luv this performance - it was Dimash's 2nd performance after 650M Chinese watched his SOS performance on their version of Twitter / Facebook & his celebrity exploded.... he is the only amateur performer, the rest are well known established Pro's.... he opens up a bit thanking the audience but shuts it down IMMEDIATELY when he sees Dad..... you should have watched the end b/c he had no idea his father was there & he keeps asking his father backstage if his performance was good - imagine the humility....... Also you get a reference to just how big Dimash is as he's got to be a full foot taller than his dad at 6'3'' (192CM)........ btw I LUV your enthusiasm & especially the Ferrari metaphor!

He did his professional debut at Singer 2017. He sang SOS in French in episode 1. In Episode 2, he sings Opera 2 in Russian, which he grew up speaking along with Kazakh. The original artist, Vitas, sang the song 20 years before, and did only one key change. Dimash sang in 6 languages st Singer 2017. He does sing in 13 languages. He came in 2nd at this competition--he was 22 years old. He is an awesome performer! I am not sure either where this studio is, maybe in Changsha. The studio has room for 500 audience members, who did all of the voting. Great show, first quarter of each year 2013 to 2020. He will be 29 years old in late May, 2023.

This performance is from the 2017 Singer (formerly I am Singer) competition for professional singers. Dimash was invited to participate in this competition which had previously been open only to Chinese professional singers. Dimash did not win the whole competition, probably because he is not Chinese but Kazakh; he came in second. But he did win wide aclaim and opened the door to international fame through TV broadcasts received in many neighboring countries and eventually to more far-flung countries and to the western world, happily for me and many others. In spite of increasing ads, gotta bless youtube for the rich store of cultural expressions and artists; love it. Also bless Dimash's fans, whom he calls his Dears and part of his family, for spreading the word and giving good information about him. By now they are probably in every country! (or should be)

For the first couple of weeks Dimash was alone in China. His first performance, SOS, he had jet lag and a bit of a cold. For this, he didn't know his father was there to visit and support his son. Dimash's mother is an opera singer and his father is involved in music. Dimash must be very special indeed for Igor Krutoy to come out of retirement to work with and compose for/with Dimash.

Used to living traditionally, the extended family under one roof, and alone in China for months, couldn't speak the language, his only company. a coach and an interpreter, his mother said in an interview, his calls became increasingly despondent. They decided his Father would fly over, sit in the audience and surprise him. The crew knowing, would cut to him, the last his arm pump in the air at the song's conclusion. Dimash stood there and then saw him, bounded off the stage in 2 leaps and grabbed him and twirled him around in a bear hug., seen in the longer video. She said he didn't return and to this day, he never travels without a family member or close personal fried. They all spell each other off, she related Asked when it was her turn what she does all day while he rehearses. Shop ! and grinned. Then blushed, no ! no ! Waving her hands. Stopped, looked down at her lap, then into the camera dead serious...well..maybe a little..the audience and I were hysterical ! Waving her arms No ! for the children ! arms going, we're laughing harder with each wave and No ! She is as funny as she is beautiful. Not a dishonest bone in her body..! Dimash said if he knew his Dad was in the audience, he never would have been so cheeky !

Ja er war da noch sehr jung und das erste mal länger von zuhause weg und er bekam so schlimmes Heimweh, dass seine Familie erkannte, er braucht Hilfe. Die Überraschung seines Vaters war da echt gelungen. He once said if he had known his father was in the audience he wouldn't have been so cheeky.

Thank you. This is from 2017 'I Am Singer' in China. Dimash came in 2nd. He is the only one that was not Chinese, being from Kazakhstan. He was the youngest and he was a 'wild card' singer brought on. The rest were seasoned well known Chinese singers. This is so fun. Dimash is having fun and enjoying being a bit 'cheeky' :D He did not know that his Dad was in the audience and had come to surprise him. Dimash saw him at the end and ran off and hugged him and picked him up. Dimash asked his Dad 'Did I do well?" :) We all get giddy btw! :D

I would have liked you to watch the entire video. The surprise reunion with his dad was so endearing and provides more insight to Dimash, the person.
