Sorry for making a comment, but I wanted to add that the PIANIST in this performance was also Kenes Duisekeev's student. So he too is grieving, and it can be heard so clearly in his playing. Stunning. I saw a comment on another video for this performance, something like: "Dimash built a monument with this song, only not by his hands". All the many Kazakhs who were personally touched by the loss of this great teacher can see this as their eternal monument for Duisekeev, I hope. Dimash commented on his Instagram when he uploaded the new video: "Maestro Adilzhan Tolykpayev and I sang the song ‘Karagym-ay’ by our teacher, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Kenes Duisekeev” - so the performance was emotional for both of them, I think. As a 83 year old father of 2 daughters and son...this brought me to tears. Not the first time with Dimash...and with his passion and sincere quest for vocal expression I will cry again with his songs. What a performance. Of all the songs he has sung, this one hit the hardest. It was raw and vulnerable. Everything he was feeling I felt. No Tricks. No Acrobats vocally. Just a song that needed to be expressed, feelings that needed to be let out. I mean, do you applaud it or just sit and reflect? Had I been in an audience and he sang this, I think at the end I would turn to the person next to me and hug them.
Interview with Karagym-Ay song composer, Kenes Duisenkeev, pronounced Kenes DoosenkEEv. In 2016, my 70th anniversary was celebrated right here in Astana. It was decided that it would take place in the concert hall Kazakhstan. Then Dimash Kudaibergen came to me and said, "Kenes aga," how do you look at it when I perform the song Karagym-Ay?! In fact, I already invited another singer to perform this song. But I didn't want to disappoint the boy. I thought he was a talented boy who had just gotten to his feet, so I didn't say no, but said, prepare yourself for the performance. In two days, a rehearsal will take place in the concert hall Kazakhstan, on the day of the concert day, you will come and i will hear your performance. Dimash finished performing, I didn't notice when I got up and called Dimash. Come here dear, come here and I hugged him. I hugged him and said, God gave you not only a voice but also a heart and, most importantly, wisdom. I didn't think a young boy who wasn't even 20 could understand the philosophical depth of this song. In fact, he realized all my thoughts on this song. instagram.com/p/CGiDdnCArPA/?igshid=14s02s38e7t1d

That must have been a translation error, Dimash had to be 21 or 22 in 2016. But even at 26, many men are still wasting a lot of time with drunken friends, doing stupid things...Dimash must be the deepest 26yo on the planet! 😉

@@FretsOnFire hi nice to see you again, yes could have been an error, but still he was young to be understanding the complexity of the emotions in this song. Yes Dimash is very deep, very emotional and very wise. He is an old soul, wise beyond his years. He doesn't drink at all, and can't have cold drinks. So when he goes out with his friends he orders a Coke and asks for some hot water in it. He suffers for his art ❤❤❤❤

@@FluffysMum Haha...I don't drink it just to avoid the ridiculous amount of sugar! Nothing to do with my art! 😉 Always nice to see you too...yeah, even now at 26 you would never expect such depth from a singer - in fact, I've barely heard it from any singers at any age! So amazing. I was very profoundly affected & influenced by Bruce Lee since childhood, and I often think of Dimash as the Bruce Lee of vocals, because they both completely revolutionized their arts at very young ages. But Bruce was both cocky & somewhat humble at times (cocky can help when you're a fighter, lol), whereas Dimash is completely humble, but somehow still completely confident. Amazing! 😇

@@FretsOnFire yes that sounds more likely. Dimash was devastated when his Professor died, he was very close to him. So the grief here is very real, I don't know how he didn't fall apart performing thus song that meant so much to Kenes ❤
Dimash was nervous when he had Maestro Kenes as his Professor at university as he was in awe of him but has said that it became like having a cup of tea with his grandfather! He paid special tribute to him at his graduation. I’m sure that his Professor would love this version of his song. Plymouth UK 🇬🇧

His heart filled with sorrow, so hard to get his voice out. I started to cry when his first word came out nothing but pure breath for a second just like it is so painful to sing and then his softer voice start singing. I felt his pain inside of my soul. Not many singers can feel into your soul but Dimash does it every time yet I keep listening his musics every day. I love both versions.

IMO second version brought Dimash to an exact emotional maturity and heart- felt pain of real loss of his mentor, that his mentor meant to put into song composing it. Song's and personality evoliution at its best.

'I have erected a monument for myself, without hands' are lines of the greatest russian poet Alexandr Pushkin. Everyone who speaks Russian knows his poetry and his work is part of every day language.
in this new version he sounds pretty insistent, he is part of the pain and sorrow, what's to say, it's a masterpiece ...

The early version has more love and hope. The more recent is filled with love and heartbreaking grief. It amazes me how Dimash can sing so beautifully while sounding a on the edge of sobbing
Dimash shows such respect and admiration for Kenes Duisenkeev. Dimash reaches into his heart and shares with us the loss. So emotional!!!
As I mentioned when listening to the new version. Dimash is a pro when singing others sadness and sorrow. This time it’s his sorrow. The loss of his mentor and teacher is very sad for him. You see and feel his hurt.
I cry every time I hear this song, it’s amazing what a pianist and Dimash touches my soul. Thank you 😊. This is also the saddest I’ve ever seen him so it’s just so sad
Dimash has put so much emotions to this song..i am telling you his vocal teacher will be veryyyy proud of him from Above🥺
Dimash in mourning is heart wrenching. He is so vulnerable in this performance. I just want to hug him and tell him it will get easier. 💜😢

I would like to think his mentor was looking down on him as well.
This was crushing for Dimash, a eulogy for a much-beloved mentor. Dimash, a first born son was raised by his grandparents who instilled him with passion and love. The elderly are deeply loved in his homeland, not only for their wisdom but the knowledge they bring forward. Thank you so much for the thoughtful care you brought to this story. My work was mostly in the jazz and pop genre, but I got close to the theater and operatic field where the story drives everything. Dimash approaches all of his compositions from that point of view and it shows brightly. This was very different, I say, with tears flowing.
My beloved, this is what true beauty is. You didn’t even need to dream of being that beautiful. People are only guests in this world, this life is so short. My beloved, while deer's wander in the steppe, who is waiting for you on your path? Why is this sorrow that I feel? Who will be your destiny in the future? My beloved, the life is passing by but life makes no sense without love. All the wealth saved up in your life can never have the same worth as a day of your love. My beloved, your glance awakens the fire of my soul, what a beautiful eyes you have.
Elizabeth, I loved this song when I heard it way, way back and was so pleased you did both. I just love his Kazakh music. The recent one made me bawl from the first note out his mouth. It immediately brought to mind my recent loses and I felt like he was singing it for all of us to all the lost 'apples of our eyes'. Your compassion and empathy also makes you a truly wonderful coach, reactor and human. Thank you.
This song is unique and so struggling itself...Dimash bow to this song he is worshipping almost this song and the story...this attitude so humble from him without any ego presents us a pure song like a gentle white flower ...
Can't wait! I love this performance. It blesses my ears and my soul. Dimash turns pain and sorrow into transcendent beauty.
What i really admire about Dimash is not only his crazy vocal abilities it's the way he can convey emotions in any style or language he sings

Dimash 😥 Those eyes, the cries, his voice, the pianist who is so in tune with Dimash and the song and the loss, that hopelessly sad exhale at 19:12... Qaraqym ai in itself is so potent in its meaning, that we simply won't find a lovelier or more fitting tribute than the one Dimash gives his teacher . I've watched this (2nd version) countless times and I'm NOT the crying type. I'm NOT. My parrot has a new habit: nibbling at my tears.
When I first heard this version, I cried like a baby. I made the mistake of reading about the song first, which made it even more special.

Oh my! I heard you but I can’t barely see you. Tears kept flowing uncontrollably. The good thing about your reaction is that even though you pause you are not breaking the momentum in fact you are adding to it by explaining how it is done. People talked about high note and longest note. Dimash has a reason to do that, if he wanted to became a special singer, he has to do his own signature. No one can transition smoothing like him when go upper registered and control breathtaking when go back low register. His capable and perfection it hard to convince and make people don't like heavy voice or high note refused to believe his voice come from a human being. those people with narrow minding and lack knowledge. They didn't know how hard him studied , practiced, and training, plus the nature give from GOD to become the professionals.

This song is amazing. I want to buy this version.
The story of the song "Karagym ay" / "My dear". Lyrics written by Sariev Shomishbay. Music written by Duysekeev Kenes. Poet Sariev dedicates these poems to his daughter, who is getting married. In the poems, the poet conveys his feelings about how the life of his daughter will turn out with her chosen one. Father shares thoughts on the meaning of life with his daughter. In his opinion, the main meaning of life is Love. Without love, life is empty. The poet asked a friend, composer Duisekeev, to write music for his poems. The composer remembered his only sister who died when she was 19 years old. She didn't get married. That's why the song also feels the pinching sadness of the failed love. /// Dimash performed the song "Karagym-ay" on April 9, 2016 at a concert dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the composer Kenes Duisekeev. The composer was surprised by how Dimash was able to understand and convey the deep meaning of the song, despite his young age (Dimash was 21 at the time.). After the performance of the song, the composer applauded Dimash with the words BRAVO!!!" /// Composer Kenes Duysekeev was Dimash's teacher at the university. He died on July 9, 2020 from Covid-19. Thanks so much for your awesome reactions, you actually understand what about DIMASH that draws us all into his performances and I watch all your reactions and am subscribed and appreciate that you LOVE DIMASH and can tell he is as awesome as he IS. Малачина красавица видно в музы́ке разбираетесь некак некоторые морды корчат а сами не в зуб ногой спасибо вам
Dimash has been singing in public since he was five. He may have been young at the time the first song was recorded but he was not only skilled but experienced.
Love it😢
I read about Dimash's first appearance that he didn't even know the exact background of the song, but that the coponist was more than touched by the way Dimash had sung it because he had the feeling of the song perfectly.
This comparison shows him transforming into a real artist. Since his career mostly started after the Singer in 2017, he is now a lot more experienced and mature. He's improved both as a singer and as a performer over the past 3-4 years and you could definitely see and hear his pain in the second version. It's heartbreaking to see. 😢 Especially after his post not a long time ago about how much he worries, sometimes i feel like he carries so much on his shoulders, maybe more than he should. It's not just Kenes Duisekeev and his other mentor who sadly passed away the same week, but the whole world suffering... And this performance and his emotions represent this so well. His tributes are really the most beautiful, we've already seen that in his two performances of SOS dedicated to Denis Ten. This version of Qaragym Ai makes my heart ache for all the people that i don't even know... The 2016 one is beautiful too, but this is just another level emotionally❤️💔
I know the video is about the song but every time you make a video I can't but think you're actually the most beautiful person I've ever seen in my life. Everything from those gorgeous hair, eyes and smile to your lovely personality. Makes me speechless every time.

Thank you for your wonderful reaction, Elizabeth. You are always so well prepared and completely enhance our understanding and our appreciation of this wonderful artist that Dimash is.
Dear Elizabeth! You are a seriously professional. Many people waiting for your reactions, thanks a lot❤️❤️❤️
How beautiful, how utterly, totally beautiful is this 2020 version. The earlier one is very lovely, but this one is so full of pain and devastation and yearning and deep, deep sadness. And such a beautiful reaction dear Elizabeth, so in tune not just with the technical aspects, but also with the emotional strength and truth of this performance - thank you!
The second performance's feeling gets me everytime i listen to it 😭😭😭 Thank you Elizabeth! Beautiful reaction/analysis again ❤❤❤
Elizabeth, this so far is your most heart felt reaction to "Dimash" I have seen. To say I am a Fan is an understatement. I am moved at the depth of your soulful evaluation and your true emotion. You're beautiful to the core. Thank you!
Great analysis Elizabeth...ya seem you got sad news that your energy was more reflective, relaxed, less bouncy, excited & brisk. Its life, we all have those days. Still a great review expressive reaction, smiles. Sad story losing a maestro. He slows it down Dimash and gives it more vibrato...he makes it more meloncholic...in the 2nd. Echoes of the love of tired swans and love is lika a dream. Good job. Time for a hubby hug...thanks Elizabeth..look forward to more as always
I'm amazed at how Dimash was able to limit both tempo and range yet unleash such a depth of emotion. Like a poet, I suppose: few words, much meaning. The deliberate withholding of his "acrobatics" lets him (and us!) focus on just how much such emotion can draw our focus to one wrenching thought. Superb and sublime. Also, I may not be the only one to notice this, but especially when this performance is compared with the early one, you can see how mature Dimash has become; his face is becoming that of a man. (But not only because he is now 26; the way he shares this grief with us adds a richness to his appearance.)
Piękna piosenka .Dimash umie dostarczyć emocji 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Wonderful reaction and analysis! I loved that you've made a research on the background of the song and reacted to both performances. The first is beautiful but the latest is absolutely amazing! Only Dimash can top Dimash.
Beautiful and heartbreakingly sad.
Hi Elizabeth, I Loved both performances and your reaction! I do prefer the newer version as Dimash is more aware of his voice and brings out the emotional connection he had between himself and his former professor and mentor (a sort of requiem). It's sad that Maestro Duisekeev will never hear this completely new interpretation of this performance but I believe he is smiling from Heaven!!! Thank You again, Elizabeth, for another Excellent Reaction & Analysis!!!
You can actually see the tears in his eyes . . . .
Dimash shows the HUMAN BEING he is,letting all his feelings in each note.Your rection is sublime,Thanks. And kisses.I admire you
Dimash is so emotional, I love this song, Dimash is the best one to sing it, thanks for your reaction.
Thank you so much for reaction It's so beautiful and beautiful
