In today’s video today we cover how to cut more complex shapes on your CNC using Easel by Inventables. You can follow this step by step tutorial and Carve your first Valet or Catch All Tray!
In this video we explore duplicating the master workpiece design and how the copies can be edited using different bits to create different effects versus the default effects created using a single design workpiece with multiple bits. By keeping out work zeros identical we are able to perform multiple toolpaths to create some pretty traffic results on a very low budget software. As a fan of low or no post processing I'll be using the double blue tape and CA glue method to hold down the workpiece and this works wonderfully for these trays. If you need to reorder your CA Glue, there's a discount code below from Starbond and this helps to support our Channel and we really appreciate it whenever you use our links! These trays sell very well on Etsy and local Markets; one of our local Farmers Markets happens to be in a Petsmart parking lot and these sell out very quickly at that location. cnc dog tray

    Sure thing, I'm going to carve another one out tonight, different design, but I'll record the part after exporting the gcode on. So setting position in openbuilds for all of the carves. Check back on Tuesday for it to be posted. Then, on Friday I'll be going over how to make personalized American flags using Easel and Openbuilds, this process will get perfectly crisp cut stars every time!

    Hello Seth, I saw you on the fb group and I don't understand the stepover for smooth pocket. please help. I'm using easel and my xcarve for a dish tray catch all. I'm using a dish bit 1/2 diameter

  • @SethCNC

    @SethCNC

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Annie 👋 with a dish bit there's typically a flat bottom portion you'd need to determine what amount is flat as a percentage of the overall width and then use a stepover that is a number a little smaller than that percentage. For instance this bit www.toolstoday.com/v-5662-45982.html?glCountry=US&glCurrency=USD&ne_ppc_id=10371521939&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3v6SBhCsARIsACyrRAnALl1o5CoxtiwQNKXeEhNHUtflpznnqcLK0qMTZo7RoA8BHh0CKYwaAqD4EALw_wcB from amana is 3/4" diameter, has a 1/4" radius (on 2 sides) making the flat portion only 1/4". So i would need to use a stepover less than 33% or else this bit will leave scallops. Scallops: lh6.googleusercontent.com/proxy/ihY7XnI02hVYLsJzc5knU-c--raw4esLXkFTvfZqk2XSHMP9t29q86zH6JJVh9R1LjVQPc8fuQpeP0C2UaV5XRY-9ZA5zMQq

    I am brand new to xcarve and cnc for that matter. Is there a book on Easel. From what little I've learned, it seems to be very limited drawing software. But since there isn't a instruction book with it, it could very well be my lack of knowledge not the software that is limited.

    Hi Ryan, easel is fairly compatable with most 3 axis cnc machines, however easel does not generate the code needed to operate a laser cnc. I recommend Lightburn software. Lasergrbl will also work but it is missing features that lightburn includes.

    Good video overall. But we didn't see the finished product. As others mentioned it's hard to hear you properly. I don't know whether you are too close to the microphone, bad equipment, etc. It was bearable to listen to at 75% speed.

    I ended up not getting video of the carve. But did take a few photos during and put them together as a kinda sideshow here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/g6yizJqTn7rbfMY.html Regarding the audio quality I did realize that when I use the extension cable with her mic, it introduces so much noise that I can't filter out 🤦‍♂️ so I stopped using the extension. And I'm also trying to go a bit slower in newer tutorials. Thank you for the information, I do appreciate it 👍

    Hi Jeff! I don't think I've failed miserably, but if I've failed you personally, thats unfortunate and I hope to do better as I figure out this whole recording and editing thing. I do jump through some steps quite quickly and as I make new videos I'm trying to slow down while still not making excessively long videos, which sometimes means not recording some of my pretty neat projects. This video wasn't necessarily intended for the first day cnc owner. Most brand new CNCers are carving flat signs and those have been covered by tons of other videos, I wanted to share something different and a little more advanced, which may have led me to go through the steps quite quickly anticipating that most viewers would have a decent handle on most of these steps used separately and that I was simply combining already known processes together. And maybe, for some viewers, I was wrong in this assumption but now you've got me thinking about adding to the title a technical level to my video titles, like beginner/intermediate/advanced. If you have a specific topic for a video you would like to see I am certainly open to suggestions. 👍

    @@SethCNC I agree that the pace of any technical video tends to go pretty fast. If you made this video at my pace it would be an hour or longer because I am just learning Easel and CNC. Having said that, I know my skills are lacking and I regularly pause or back up a video so I can catch up on my own screen if I am following along. The video is great, thanks for sharing
