Thank god you saved one weanling. She is blessed to be with you.I cannot believe the 'backyard breeders' in Manitoba, that's animal abuse to pull the foals off their mums just 2 days before putting them on a 21 hour truck trip, then the terrifying noisy, rushed auction. It's horrific.All money driven, no real care or understanding of horse psychology.Those poor foals.I pray everyone of them found a safe home, but I doubt it.Thanks for saving this one.

Yes, I worry that she is helping to encourage this by buying.... yet if she doesn't, buy all those others there will. So I am happy that by her doing this and putting her videos up for all to see... then LOTS of people will learn how baby horses need more time and more one-on-one human interaction -- that we shouldn't be just breeding and dumping them into auctions. WE ALL need to see the difference with our own eyes.

I always worry when you start bidding but congratulations you got a real beauty there. So now you have another horse to train another friend for Elsie and Kyle and you you will need to get her slightly halter broken the way Ezzy is I can hardly wait to see the two of them together. There will be sniffing at 😂 and running around chasing I could just hardly wait.

She is nice, I don’t think I have seen a bigger smile on Kyles face.

That made me cry! I think sweet girl needed you, someone who would be patient and kind to her. I can't wait to see her progress.

She's bay roan, not red roan (although AQHA used to register bay roans as red roans). Did you catch what she bid for her? $3000?

This gave me tears. Not least of all, because of the process of the weaning from their Mum. Quite brutal. I'm delighted you got the baby Kyle wanted. She's very pretty. Gunna enjoy the next phase.

Over 50 years ago I bought a weanling colt from a breeder, paying for an extra month of board so that he would be weaned for a month before coming to my home in a different city and elevation. He ended up very sick, with an illness that only had one drug that would cure it and it had to be sent from out of state to the vet. He was so sick that I almost had to put him down. I found out later, from others that volunteered at this breeding facility, that he was NOT weaned at all until the day he was put into the trailer to come to my house. To say that I was angry was an understatement. My vet thought that stress was what caused his illness. I spent more on vet bills than I did on the foal. Never again!

2nd comment (I'm sorry). First, I sobbed when you won the bid. I'm a Grandmother and your channel brings back so many good memories. Years ago, we rescued a foal at 3/4 months old and named him 'Rowdy'. Our mare 'adopted' him instantly alongside her foal. Both grew huge and confident ❤ I started Rowdy under saddle, sold him, and then retrieved him from the buyer after a couple months. (That's another story 😢). LSS: A trusted friend of mine who worked with local young people (lessons, local shows) always had an interest in our rescue horse. He was kind, tall, and elegant. Her clients purchased many of our horses and it was always a positive experience. Here is the sweet end of this story: I gifted her with our rescue horse (then a 7 yr old) and she showed him in the open circuit. He was amazing and consistently placed in the top 3! Many young people gained loving and positive experiences with him. He was the most popular horse in her barn and pretty amazing he was a rescue that no one appreciated. Whether you rescue or invest, horses can bring loads of JOY and love. I love your channel: thank you.

OMG, you both made your choice for a beautiful roan filly. I know one thing, she will become a true buddy with Ezzy within a month or less. I wish for Belle to really mother her well. And Begheera. Three great Moms coming up, including Shae. I have to admit my heart broke to see so many young foals just off the nipple and put through so much stress in 24 hours. In my education of horses and their foals, I had experience with, most were weaned by 6 months and handled with halters and leading and hoof handling by 4 months to ready the handling and weaning. I have heard of 4 and 5 month weaning programs, but nothing can replace a mothers’ teaching and natural antibodies as much. I m old school of course. So this will be quite the journey for the Family of Free Spirit Equestrian! But I m a true supporter for as long as I can be and will help this team and farm as best I can.
